This manual introduces how to add a new print mode and how to
perform spot color printing using that mode.
The steps introduced here use spot color inks such as gloss and
white ink to create the desired e󰀨ect for the product.

Customizing Print Settings
Introduction
This manual introduces how to add a new print mode and how to perform spot color printing using that mode.
Adding a print mode is only possible in administrator mode. However, please note that adding print modes is not
covered by the warranty.
For information on how to log into administrator mode, refer to the IU-1000F Operating Instructions —
Administrator Mode Guide.

[1]: Gloss printing (matte nish) on the pattern
[2]: Pattern printing
[3]: White printing for improved color development
[4]: Primer printing between the ink and the media to promote ink adhesion
Procedure
A Create the print data and save it as a rasterized le.
1 Create the print data using Adobe Illustrator or some other drawing software.
Make four layers, and stack them in the order shown above.
Congure the settings for each layer ([1] to [4]) as follows.
Layer name Swatch (*1) Overprint Fill (*2)
Layer [1] Gloss Spot2 On
Layer [2] CMYK No On
Layer [3] White Spot1 On
Layer [4] Primer Spot3 O󰀨
*1: Specify a swatch for each object within a layer.
*2: "Overprint Fill" in the "Attributes" window
Create three new swatches, and congure the settings as follows.
Swatch Name Color Type
Swatch 1 Spot1 Spot color
Swatch 2 Spot2 Spot color
Swatch 3 Spot3 Spot color
2 Use RIP software such as SAi FlexiPRINT to rasterize the print data.
3 Save the rasterized print data as a le.

B Start Print Control and enter administrator mode.
C Open the le saved in A with Print Control, and double-click the added job.
The "Properties" window for the job appears.
D Click [Print Mode].
The "Print Edit mode" window appears.
E Create a new print mode.
1 Enter a new name in "Current Mode."
2 Click [New].
3 Click [Color Mode].
The "Color Mode Setting" window appears.

F Create a new color mode and congure the settings.
1 Enter a name for the new color mode.
2 Click [New].
3 Set "White" to "RIP Data."
4 Set "Gloss" to "RIP Data."
5 Set "Primer" to "RIP Data."
6 Select "More..." in "Layout."
The "Layer Settings" window appears.
G Congure and save the settings for the new layout.
1 Enter a name for the layout. (Example: Pr - Wh - 4C - Gl)
2 Click [New].
3 Set the number of layers to 4.
4 Congure the settings for each layer as shown in the gure.
5 Click [Save].
6 Click [Close].
The "Layer Settings" window closes, and the "Color Mode Setting" window appears.

H Select the layout created in G.
1 Select the newly created layout in the "Layout" pulldown list.
2 Click [Save].
3 Click [Close].
The "Color Mode Setting" window closes, and the "Print Edit mode" window appears.
I Select the color mode created in F.
1 Select the newly created color mode in the "Color Mode Setting" pulldown list.
2 Click [Save].
3 Click [Close].
The "Print Edit mode" window closes, and the "Properties" window appears.

J Select the print mode created in E and begin printing.
1 Select the newly created print mode in the "Print Mode" pulldown list.
2 Click [OK].
3 If the displayed media thickness is correct, click [Print].
4 If the maintenance station height is correct, click [Yes].
Printing starts.

Using Emboss to Make Patterns and Characters Stand Out
Using a gloss layer provides an uneven surface, creating an embossed product.
Because the gloss layer can result in a slightly yellowish color, the gloss layer should be placed under the pattern.
However, the color of the gloss can aect the color of the pattern, so a white layer must be printed between the
gloss and the pattern.

Procedure
A Create the print data and save it as a rasterized le.
1 Create the print data using Adobe Illustrator or some other drawing software.
