1. Installation Environment
Deciding on an Installation Site
Install in a quiet, stable location oering good operating conditions. An unsuitable location can cause accident,
re, faulty operation, or breakdown.
WARNING Install the machine in a location that is level, stable, and able to bear the
weight of the machine.
The total weight may reach over 241 kg (518 lbs). Installation in an unsuitable
location may cause a major accident, including tip over, fall, or collapse.
WARNING Never install out of doors or in any location where exposure to water or
high humidity may occur.
Current leakage may cause electrical shock, electrocution, or combustion and
re.
WARNING Never install close to any ammable object or in a gas-lled location.
Combustion or explosion may be a danger.
WARNING Install in a clean, brightly lit location.
Conduct operations in a clean, brightly lit location. Working in a location that
is dark or cluttered may lead to an accident, such as becoming caught in the
machine as the result of an inadvertent stumble.
WARNING Position so that the power plug is within immediate reach at all times.
This is to enable quick disconnection of the power plug in the event of an emer-
gency. Install the machine next to an electrical outlet. Also, provide enough
empty space to allow immediate access to the electrical outlet.
CAUTION Ensure adequate ventilation for the work area.
Failing to perform ventilation may result in a health hazard or danger of com-
bustion due to ink fumes.
Unsuitable Installation Sites
Locations subject to large uctuations in temperature or humidity
Locations subject to shaking or vibration
Locations where the oor is tilted, not level, or unstable
Dusty locations
Locations exposed to direct sunlight
Locations exposed to direct near air-conditioning or heating equipment
Locations exposed to water or moving air
Locations exposed to considerable electrical or magnetic noise, or other forms of electro-
magnetic energy

Temperature and Humidity
Maintain the specied temperature and humidity even when the machine is not in use. If temperatures are
too high or too low, it may cause malfunction.
Installation Space
The space shown in the gure is required in order to use this machine.
During operation: Temperature 18 to 25˚C (64.4 to 77 ˚F), relative humidity 35 to 65 % RH (no con-
densation)
During non-operation: Temperature 15 to 30˚C (59 to 86 ˚F), relative humidity 20 to 80% (no con-
densation)

Otherwise sudden movement of the machine may cause injury.

1. Assemble the stand.

Place the stand stay on the stand legs with the U-shaped brackets on the inside.

Tighten the bolts temporarily at the four locations on the top and the four locations on
the side as in and then .
When tightening the bolts fully, tighten them securely. Loose bolts may cause the stand to
wobble.

Install the casters onto the stand legs.
Install to the side with the most distance from the stand stay to the end.

2. Installing the feed adjusters.

Install the feed adjuster stays as in and then .
Only the bolts on the left side when looking at the front of the machine are tightened fully. The bolts on
the right side are tightened temporarily.

Install a feed adjuster to the front of the machine.
Take care to install the adjuster with the correct orientation.
* There are two adjusters. They are the same shape. It does not matter which is used.


Place the shafts on the stand.

Pass the shaft through the media holder (left) as in and then .
Pass the shaft through from the right when looking at the rear of the machine.

Move the media holder (left) to the left side of the shaft, and attach the retaining screw.
Tightening the retaining screw only lightly is sucient.

In the same manner, pass the shaft through the media holder (right) as in and then .

Install the shaft clamps to secure the shaft.
Make sure the media holder is not so close to the end of the shaft that it becomes pinched by the shaft

4. Install the drain bottle.

Remove the bottom plug.
Be careful as the uid used in the inspection may still remain when removing it.

Install the drain bottle.
Turn the bottle without applying excessive force.
Remove it only when you are disposing of collected ink.
