II. Operation
Filter System Start-Up Procedure:
Priorto turning on the flow to the inlet service, please make the following checks:
1. Check inside filter unit to be surebasket and filterbag (ifapplicable)arein housing and do not
require cleaning or replacement. Ifnecessary install a clean filter basket and bag (ifapplicable).
2. Check that filterunit coveris securely fastened to housing. You are now ready to open the flow
to theinlet serviceline. Slowly open the inlet service line approximately 25%ofnormal
operational flow (open slowly as not to displace filterbag insidethehousing). After filter unit is
pressurized and vented, slowly open outlet servicelineunit valve until completely open.
Completeopening ofinlet servicelineuntil desired flow rateis reached.
Once the desired service flow has been established, thefilterwill operate efficiently until dirty. However, underno
circumstances should more than 15 PSIDifferential Pressure through thefilterbeobtained. Operating thefilterunit
with ahigh differential may cause filter bags to ruptureand/or cause damageto filter systemand downstream
equipment.
To prevent excessivedrop through thefilter unit, regularinspection ofthefilter media is required. Monitoring of
differential pressurethrough the housing can be utilized as ameans ofdetermining whetherornot thefiltermedia
needs cleaning or replacement.
Filter Media Cleaning/Replacement Procedure (Side ofduplexnot in service):
Theduplexsystemfeatures continuous filtering capabilities. When it becomes necessary to clean or replace filter
mediaduring continuous operating conditions, follow theprocedureoutlined below:
1. Open balancing valve, ifapplicable,to equalizepressurein both housings.
2. Unlock mechanical valveactuator assembly by removing thelynch pin.
3. Slowly move the mechanical valve actuator lever 90Eto divert theflow to the clean filtervessel.
4. Replace lynch pin to prevent accidental switching offluid flow to filter being serviced.
5. Close balancing valve,ifapplicable.
6. Relieve the pressurefromthefiltervessel being serviced.
WARNING
CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE
Relieve Pressure in accordance
with Manufacturer's instructions
before opening Filter Vessel.
FAILURE TODOSOMAY RESULT
IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY.
7. Drain housing sufficiently to access filter basket.
8. Removecoverby loosening thecover eyenuts. Theeyenuts in theslotted corners should be
loosened sufficiently to swing free. Loosen the third eyenut sufficiently to allow the top cover
and closure assembly to swing away fromthetop oftheunit.
9. Removefilterbasket and clean thoroughly, removethefilter bag (ifapplicable) and throw away.
(Cleaning and reusing the filter bag is not recommended.)
