Theduplexsystemis normally supplied with the inlet-outlet connections in a horizontal orientation (facing in
oppositedirections) as shown on thelast pageofthis manual. However,theinlet-outlet orientations can be varied
depending on yourapplication.
Theinlet servicelineshould beconnected to theinlet flangeorNPTcoupling located nearthetop ofthe units (above
basket level).
Theoutlet servicelineshould beconnected to the outlet flangeorNPTcoupling, located nearthemiddleorbottom
ofthe units (below basket level).
Therearetwo 1/4"NPTports,oneon theinlet teeand one on the outlet tee, oftheModel 6 DuplexFilterunit.
Additionally, there is one 1/4"NPTport in each cover ofthe Model 6 DuplexFilterunit. Theseports can remain
plugged or used forpressure gauges, orspecial fittings as yourapplication requires.
Some installations requireelectrical grounding ofall equipment,be sureto provideadequategrounding where
necessary.
Aftercompleting installation besure to double check connections forintegrity. YourModel 6 DuplexFilterunit has
been factory pressure tested leak free, therefore, any seepage problems usually occur fromimproper installation
connections.
You arenow ready to install thefilterbaskets and bags.(Your RosedaleModel 6 DuplexFilterunit consists oftwo
Rosedale Model 6 Filter units. They aredesigned forcontinual flow through oneunit whileservicing theother).

Insert bag into thebag basket making surefilterbag ring is firmly seated on top ofthebasket flange. Forbest
results, besure filter bag is installed fully extended to thebottomofthebasket.
Before replacing cover assembly, inspect cover seal gasket (replacing as necessary). Close cover and alternately
tighten the three clamp assemblies evenly to ensurealeak proofseal between the cover and housing body. The

II. Operation
Filter System Start-Up Procedure:
Priorto turning on the flow to the inlet service, please make the following checks:
1. Check inside filter unit to be surebasket and filterbag (ifapplicable)arein housing and do not
require cleaning or replacement. Ifnecessary install a clean filter basket and bag (ifapplicable).
2. Check that filterunit coveris securely fastened to housing. You are now ready to open the flow
to theinlet serviceline. Slowly open the inlet service line approximately 25%ofnormal
operational flow (open slowly as not to displace filterbag insidethehousing). After filter unit is
pressurized and vented, slowly open outlet servicelineunit valve until completely open.
Completeopening ofinlet servicelineuntil desired flow rateis reached.
Once the desired service flow has been established, thefilterwill operate efficiently until dirty. However, underno
circumstances should more than 15 PSIDifferential Pressure through thefilterbeobtained. Operating thefilterunit
with ahigh differential may cause filter bags to ruptureand/or cause damageto filter systemand downstream
equipment.
To prevent excessivedrop through thefilter unit, regularinspection ofthefilter media is required. Monitoring of
differential pressurethrough the housing can be utilized as ameans ofdetermining whetherornot thefiltermedia
needs cleaning or replacement.
Filter Media Cleaning/Replacement Procedure (Side ofduplexnot in service):
Theduplexsystemfeatures continuous filtering capabilities. When it becomes necessary to clean or replace filter
mediaduring continuous operating conditions, follow theprocedureoutlined below:
1. Open balancing valve, ifapplicable,to equalizepressurein both housings.
2. Unlock mechanical valveactuator assembly by removing thelynch pin.
3. Slowly move the mechanical valve actuator lever 90Eto divert theflow to the clean filtervessel.
4. Replace lynch pin to prevent accidental switching offluid flow to filter being serviced.
5. Close balancing valve,ifapplicable.
6. Relieve the pressurefromthefiltervessel being serviced.
