tion and convenience.

Look on your vacuum cleaner and follow
all labeland markinginstructions.

Electricshock could occur if used
outdoorsor on wet surfaces.
Do not let children laywith the vacuum

Do not usethe vacuum cleanerto pick up

Keepthe vacuum cleaner on thefloor.
Only the hand-heldvacuum cleaners may be
set on furniture.

Do not usethe vacuumcleaner without
dustbagor filters inplace.
Do not use the power cord to pull or carry
the vacuum cleaner. Do not usethe power
cordas a handle. Do notshut an door on
the cord or pullthe cord around siarpedges
of corners. Keepthe cord away from heated
surfaces. Do not runthe vacuum cleaner
over the cord.

Do not usevacuum cleanerwith a
damagedcord or plug. Do not usevacuum
cleanerif working improperly,dropped,
damaged, leftoutdoorsor dropped Inwater.
First?sendto servicecenterfor check and
repalr.
Storethe vacuum cleaner indoors. Put
thevacuum cleaner away after useto
prevent tripping accidents.

Do not ull on the cord to unplugthe
vacuum ckaner. Graspthe plug instead.

Only use attachmentsand hoses
recommendedby the manufacturer. Usethe
vacuum cleaner only as stated inthis
manual.
Turn all controlsto 'OFF', before
unplugg~ngthe vacuum cleaner.

Do not use an extensioncordwith this
vacuum cleaner.
Do not touch the plug or the vacuum
cleanerwith wet hands.
Do not put any object intothe vacuum
cleanervent or other openings, Do notturn
the vacuum cleaneron if something is
blockin an openin Keepvents free of
thingstflat slow airyiow, such as dust, lint
and hair.

Do not pick up anythingthat is hot,
smokingor burning. Do not pick up
cigarettes,hot ashesor matches.
Unplugthe vacuum cleaner if you leave
the room. Unplugitwhen it is not in use and
beforeyou service it.
Always turn off the vacuum cleaner
beforeconnecting,or removingeither the
hoseor the motor~zednozzle.

Do not use hose if it is damaged, cut or
punctured. Do not pick up sharp objects
with the vacuum nozzleor hose. The hose
contamselectr~calwires.

Keep end of hose, wands and other

This cleaner contains a thermal protector
which will automaticallyshut off the

Snap together the two interlock-
ingwands.
Pushassembledwands into
power nozzle.
Presscord from power nozzle
into channels on back of wands.

Installhose.
a. Hold hose adapter end so
that button is at the top as
shown (A).
b. Line up adapterwith intake
hole on face of cleaner.
c. Depressbutton on hose
adapter and slide adapter in
to intake hole as shown
(B).
d. Releasebutton. Give hose
a slighttug to be sure it is
securely in place.

adapter into outlet near gripper
handle on top of POWER PAK
as shown
(C).

HOW TO OPERATE

Pull handle back intothe
operating position.
9.
Push power switch on POWER
PAK nozzle as shown (A).
10.
Selectcarpet or bare floor
cleaning.
a. For Carpet Cleaning
-
Push
power switch on the power A.
nozzle. Be sure brush roll is
rotatingfor effective cleaning
and grooming.
b. For Bare FloorCleaning
-
Pushpower switch on the
power nozzle. Be sure brush
roll stops rotating
USINGTHE ATTACHMENTS
Chose any of the handy
accessoriesto meet your
various cleaning needs. Then
simply push it firmly onto the
hose or wand end (A).
The hose can be usedalone or
with many combinationsof
wands and tools.
To removea tool or wand, pull
the two apart gently. You may
rotate the attachmentback and
forth a littleto makethe re-
moval easier.

CORD WRAP AND QUICK RELEASE
1.
The cord can be easily
wrapped aroundthe two cord
hooks provided underneaththe
POWER PAK.
2.
Turn the POWER PAK on end
as shown (A).
3.
Wrap the cord around one cord
hook andthen the other.
4.
To releasethe cord without
unwindingit, push inthe black
quick cord releasetab
(B).

TO MOUNTTOOL
CADDY
Holdthe empty tool caddy with
the flat side facing the back of
the POWER PAK.
Notethe groove onthe caddy
andthe clip on the POWER
PAK as shown (A).
Slidethe caddy down over the
clip until it locks. The caddy is
now secure.
Place the dusting brush and
upholsterytool (exceptthe
crevice tool) in the round
pocketson top of the caddy
(B).
Pushon securely.
Slidethe crevicetool intothe
slots available under these two
tools. It will enter from boththe
right and left sides.
TO REMOVETHE TOOL
CADDY
Reach underneaththe tool
caddy.
Pullthe entire caddy up and off
of the cleaner.

INSTALLATIONAND REMOVAL OF
CONVENIENT SHOULDER STRAP
(Optional)
Squeezetogether the clip on
one end of the strap.
Insertthe clip into one of the
grooves (onefront, one back)
on the POWER PAK as shown
(A).
NOTE:
Clips may break if not
properly installed.

Dothe same steps for the
remainingclip and groove.
Your POWER PAK can now be
carried on your shoulderwhile
you clean above the floor as
shown
(B).

PAPER BAG REMOVALAND
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
UNPLUG CLEANER BEFORE
CHANGING PAPER BAG.
CLEANER MUST HAVE
PAPER BAG IN PLACE AT
ALL TIMES.
Checkto be sure your POWER
PAK has one paper bag in place
beforeyou begin vacuuming.
1.
Remove hose if it is in place
from the face of the cleaner.
2.
Depressdoor releasebutton to
open door and expose paper
bag (A).
If your POWER PAK has no paper
insert in place,follow these easy
bag installationsteps.
3.
Placea fresh paper bag into
the bag chamber with the
cardboard collar facing you (B).
4.
Be sure the paper bag is
placed back intothe chamber
so the cardboard collar is flush
with the front edge of the
POWER PAK.
5.
Snapthe bottom two corners of
the cardboard collar behindthe
two clips along the bottom edge
of the chamber. The new bag
is now secure.
6.
Closethe door and be sure it
snaps shut tightly.

If your paper bag is full and you'd
liketo replace it with a fresh bag,
follow instructions#1 and
#2
and
then begin at #7 (you can tell your
bag needs replacedwhen you
experience low performancewith
the POWER PAK).
7. After removingthe hose and
openingthe POWER PAK
door, simply grasp the card-
boardcollar and pull the full
paper bagtoward you as
shown(C).
8.
Carry the full bagto a waste
receptacleand disposeof it.
You may now follow steps#3-#6 in
section A to place a fresh bag in
your POWER PAK.
You may also want to purchase
paper bags now so you have them
when you needthem. Call your
local Royaldealer or retailerfor
information.

BELT OR BRUSH ROLL
REMOVALAND REPLACEMENT
NOTE:
Unplug cleaner before changing
belt or brushroll.
1.
To remove nozzleguard: turn
power nozzle over and insert
finger into openings near an
arrow as shown (A). Squeeze
clip and pull nozzleguard
toward you.
TO REMOVE BELT
1.
Be sure belt is off motor shaft.
2.
Lift and remove brush roll (B).
3.
Disposeof old belt.
TO REPLACE BELT
1.
Loop belt around motor shaft
(c).
2.
Slip brush rollthrough belt.
Place belt on raisedarea of
brush rollwithout bristles.
3.
Pullbrushtowards you and
insert into side holder
#I
and
then
#2
(D).
4.
Replacenozzleguard. Match
the front tabs to the slots on the
nozzlebase. Swingdown to
snap hooks. Pressfirmly on
entire nozzleguardto fit into
place
(E).
IMPORTANT:Be sure belt is not
twisted and brush roll rotates
smoothly.

Choosea convenient location
such as a broom closet in
which to store your
POWER
PAK.
Usingthe screws provided,
mountthe bracket on
a
wall as
shown
(A).
Hangthe attachmenton the
bracketas shown
(B).
You can
store the wands and remaining
tool on the hoseend while
hanging. If your closet does
not allow for this, simply stand
the remainingaccessories in a
corner.
