Makesuretherearenobatteriesinstalledinthe
compartment.
PlugthejackoftheAC-DCadapterintothesocketof
theSmartCharger.ThenplugtheAC-DCadapterintoa
wallsocket(seeKEYSANDFEATURES).
Openthelidbypressingthebuttonthatisinfrontofthe
lid.
Pullbackoneofthemetalcontactplatesandinsertyour
1.2V
Ni-CdorNi-MH(AAA,AA,CorD size)batteryinto
aslot,makingsurethatthebatteryisplacedsothatthe
"+"
symbolonthebatteryisinthesamepositionasthe
"+"
symbolinsidethecompartment.Ifyouwishto
rechargea 1.2Vprismaticbattery
instead,
firstinsertthe
prismaticadapterintotheslot(seesection
1.2).
Then
insertthe1.2Vprismaticbattery.Again,makesurethat
thepositionof
the"+"
symbolonthebatterymatches
withthatof
the"+"
symbolinsidethecompartment.
ClosethelidandwatchtheLCDastheSmartCharger
evaluatesyourbatterytotestitsrechargingneeds.
Chargingwillthenbeginautomatically.Ifthebatteryis
notsuitableforrecharging,theBadBatterysymbol$
willappearontheLCD.Openthelid,removethebad
batteryandthentryanotherbattery!
Ifyouareina hurrytousethebatteryyouarecharging,
youmayremoveanduseitassoonasyouseethe

energyleftwillbeindicatedbythenumberofbarsilluminatedonthe
Energysymboldisplay.Thegreaterthenumberofenergybars
displayed,
thehigherthelevelofenergyleft.Ifthebatteryisnot
suitableforrecharging,theBadBatterysymbol

attempttorechargethebatteryinthiscase.
Note: It is recommended that you test only one battery at a time in
order to gain an accurate representation ofeach individual battery's
voltage and level ofenergy left as displayed by the Energy bars.

Insertuptotwoprismaticbatteriesorup
tofourAAA,AA,C,orD batteriesintotheslots,
matchingthe

insidethecompartment.The
batteriesinsertedmustbeofthesametypeand
capacity.Thenclosethelid(theSmartCharger
willnotbegincharginguntilthelidisclosed).
TheLoadingsymbolwilldisappearandtheSmartChargerwill
beginanalyzingthebatteries.TheBatteryAnalyzersymbolwill
cycleduringthistimeandtheoutlineoftheEnergysymbolwilllight
up.Ifthebatteryisfoundtobeunsuitableforrecharging,theBad
Batterysymbolwillappear,andyoushouldremovethebattery.
Warning: Inserting batteries of a different
size,
brand,
capacity or type may lead to overcharging
or
a reduction in
the
battery's
