5
USER MANUAL
TRACTOR FRONT DISC MOWER
ALPINA / SAMBA F
❑Compliance with the guidelines of this User Manual will ensure full operating safety.
❑If you have any doubts about starting up and operating the mower, consult the manufacturer.
❑The User Manual is an indispensable part of every machine. It provides to the machine user an
explanation of the correct operation and use of the machine, and the potential operating hazards.
3. INTENDED USE OF THE MOWER
The ALPINA / SAMBA F light front disc mowers are intended for operation at small farms and
mowing of green fodder, including grass, alfalfa, and similar on permanently established grazing lands
(meadows) and crop fields clear of stones and rocks. The mower forms a loose swath of the cut
material. The mowers are excellent performers in mountainous or wet terrain where the mower and
tractor unit weight is critical. The optimum ground pressure of the mower deck is adjusted by unloading
the TPH linkage (if the tractor has a front TPH) or by installation of optional load floating springs.
The meadow or field to be mowed must be level and prepared for the process by rolling or other
applicable pretreatment.
The ALPINA / SAMBA F disc mower features the Lite Cut mower deck. Table 1 illustrates the
cutting height difference resulting from the mower deck tilt angle to the ground.
The ALPINA disc mowers can feature an optional side shift system, a feature best used in mountainous
terrain.
CAUTION!
Do not use the machine for purposes other than specified as the intended use
in this User Manual. Other purposes will be non-intended use of the machine and
may void the manufacturer's liability for all damage from non-intended use.
The machine must only be used, operated, and repaired by personnel familiar
with its detailed characteristics and safety procedures. The manufacturer shall
not be liable for any damage or loss resulting from unauthorized modifications
of the machine.
NOTE:
The ALPINA/SAMBA F disc mowers are resistant to damage from medium-sized
stones. If the mowed surface features many stones, the disc blades may require
reduced replacement intervals; in extreme conditions, the mower deck can be
damaged and it WILL NOT be eligible for free-of-charge warranty repair.
GENERAL WARNING
Follow the hazard warnings and the safety instructions indicated with this
symbol throughout the User Manual to operate the mower.

5.1. Hitching the mower to a tractor
CAUTION!
The ALPINA / SAMBA F mower can only be coupled to a tractor with a floating
TPH control system.
Before coupling the mower with the tractor, make sure that the sense of rotation of the mower
and tractor PTOs is the same. The standard version of this machine can be coupled with a tractor with
a front PTO which rotates counter-clockwise (looking at the tractor’s front). Otherwise, the sense of
rotation must be reversed. If the PTO is not reversible, remove the 1st intersecting axis gear from the
mower and reinstall it rotated by 180° (Fig. 10).
