1. IDENTIFICATION
The mower identification plate is affixed permanently to the body of the mower shown
on Fig. 1.

The identification plate contains:
 full name of the manufacturer,
 mower serial number,
 mower model,
 date of manufacture,
 weight,
 version number,
 quality control mark,
 the CE symbol signifies that the mower
conforms to the 2006/42/WE Directive
and harmonized standards,
 the MADE IN POLAND sign,
 barcode.
ATTENTION:
Detailed information about the mower can be obtained from
the manufacturer or distributor of the machine.
2. INTRODUCTION
 This instruction should be regarded as part of the basic equipment of the mower.
When the mower is turned over to a different user it should be in working condition and
accompanied by this instruction manual and all other basic equipment it should posses.
 Before operating this mower the user should first completely read the instructions in this
manual and should be familiar with general safety rules.
 The mower has been manufactured in accordance with all safety norms.
 Adhering to the instruction manual guarantees the user full safety during operation.
 In the event of any doubts regarding starting and operation of the mower please contact
the manufacturer.
 The instruction manual is an integral part of the equipment of the mower.
GENERAL WARNING
During the operation of the mower please observe all the warnings and
safety rules which are marked with this sign in the instruction manual.
WARNING:
It is forbidden to operate the mower without previously reading
the instruction manual, and for it to be used by persons not authorized to
drive farm tractors, especially children.

3. MOWER'S INTENDED USE
The rear flail mower mounted on a pantograph is intended for mowing road shoulders, lots,
greens, ditches and such, for breaking up branches of moderate thickets (up to 8 cm), weeds and
such, and in agriculture for mulching corn, tobacco stubble and not too high grasses under good
conditions in flat slightly hilly areas.
Flail mowers Kangu are designed to mow road sides and to maintenance of green areas
(orchards, vineyards).
WARNING:
It is forbidden to use the mower for purposes other than those listed in this
instruction. Using the mower for other purposes will be classified as use not
according with the intended use and could exclude the manufacturer from
responsibility from any resulting damages. The mower should be used,
serviced and repaired only by persons familiar with its characteristics and
with safety regulations. Unauthorized modification of the mower may release
the manufacturer from responsibility for any resulting malfunctions or
damages.
Mower KBRP 160 and Kangu 190 cooperates with tractors featuring 3-point linkage Cat. II with
power from 70 HP.
Mower KBRP 200 cooperates with tractors featuring 3-point linkage Cat. II with power from
80 HP.
Mower Kangu 140 cooperates with tractors featuring 3-point linkage Cat. II with power from
50 HP.

The rear flail mower mounted on a pantograph consists of the suspension system (1) to which
the pantograph arm (2)is connected and which links the cutting unit with the suspension frame.
The miter gear (8), located on the outside of the carrier frame, is connected to the belt drive (3),
forming the carrier body. Installed inside of the carrier body is the flail-cutting shaft (7)and
the coping shaft (6). Power to the cutting shaft (7) is transferred from the ATS (4) to the miter
gear (8)and then to the belt drive (3). The belt drive transfers power directly to the flail shaft (7).
The cutting unit (7) consists of a thick-walled shaft on which the cutting blades are installed.
The mounting of
the cutting blades works as a safeguard which protects the working elements from
overloading or damage. During operation when the resistance force of the obstacle is greater than
the centrifugal force of the blade, the blade tilts backwards and passes over the obstacle.

3.3. Equipment and spare parts
The mowers are sold with the following standard equipment:
 warranty card,
 operating manual and spare parts catalogue,
 flail blades 2 pcs.,
 the articulated telescopic shaft,
 hydraulic hardware meaning:
- hydraulic hoses 4 pcs.
- valve 1 pc.
- connector 1 pc.
- plug EURO (or PL) 1 pc.
 spray paint (150 ml).
Additional equipment (purchased separately):
 warning lights including lamp units and reflectors,

ATTENTION:
The frequency of lubrication of the articulated telescoping shaft, according to
its manual, should be carefully adhered to. Lubrication points on Fig. 4
should be lubricated every 50 hours. The articulated telescoping shaft should
also be lubricated before and after longer periods of disuse.
It is possible to use shafts with similar technical parameters from different manufacturers
after consulting SaMASZ.

3.3.1. Flail knives applicable in mowers KBRP and Kangu
In order to provide proper operation of mower flails need to be repalced once they are worn.
Corresponding symbol of flail knife can be found in mower's catalogue of parts.
Knives which can be mounted in Samasz mowers are provided in table below.

4. SAFETY RULES AND WARNINGS
4.1. General rules
 The front axle of the driving tractor should be adequately loaded to maintain balance.
If necessary use front wheel weights.
 All manipulation of the hydraulic hoist control lever should be made only from the driving seat,
operating the hoist while outside the tractor is forbidden.
In tractors with electro-hydraulic control system (EHR) the hoist is operated with a button
outside the cabin of the tractor. During operation please remain especially cautious.

 Operating the mower with damage covers is forbidden.
 Mowing can only be started after the power take-off reaches a nominal speed of 540 rpm.
 The power take-off cannot exceed speeds of 550 rpm.
 There should be a safe distance between the mower and people, a minimum of 50 m. Utmost
care should be maintained while working in the vicinity of roads and streets (there is a danger of
hard objects being thrown).
 Any servicing or adjusting of the mower must be done only after the engine and waiting until
the flail shaft has stopped.
 The condition of blade mounting bolts must be periodically checked (loose bolts and worn
openings in the mounting brackets). Any damaged or worn bolts must be replaced.
WARNING:
Any maintenance or repair of the mower must be done with the tractor
engine off, the cutting unit resting on the ground and all rotating parts at rest.
 During any repair being performed while the mower is lifted on the TPH, the mower should be
secured with a support or a chain so that it does not fall.
 The condition of bolts and other connectors should be periodically checked. Operation of
the mower with damaged connectors is unnaceptable.
 During operation of the mower the Regulation of the Farm Ministry and Food Economy from
12-01-1998 dealing with safety and hygiene during the operation of tractors, machinery, tools
and equipment used for farming (Dz. U. nr 12/98 poz. 51), should be observed.
 The tractor used with the mower should be equipped with a driver's cabin.
 The mower cannot be used if the tractor has not been properly balanced.
 Never start the mower if it is in the up position.
 Never start the mower if people or animals are in the proximity of the mower.
 Never lift the tarpaulin apron before the rotating parts of the mower come to a complete stop.
The tractor engine must be turned off.
 Observe all safety signs, warnings or warning signs placed on the mower.
 Before turning on the tractor make sure that all drives are disengaged and the hydraulic control
lever is in neutral.
 Do not leave a running tractor without supervision. Before leaving the tractor turn off the engine
and remove the key from ignition.
 It is forbidden to operate the mower in reverse.
 Never climb on top of the mower.
 Lifting the mower on the hitch of the tractor while the drive is engaged and the discs are
spinning is forbidden.
 Acceptable ground incline while operating or transporting the mower is 8°.
 Do not get between the tractor and the mower before the equipment has been secured through
the engagement of the parking brake of the tractor.
 All inspections of the condition of the mower and any adjustments should be done while
the mower is opened and lowered to the ground.
 In case of repairs or adjustments which must be done under the mower it must be secured from
falling using a proper support.

 When parts need replacing only original spare parts form the spare parts catalogue should be
used.
 Special attention should be paid to the cover-guards of the drive shafts. Never work with
damaged shaft guards.
 Hydraulic hoses should be periodically checked and in the event of damage or age should be
replaced. Hydraulic hoses should not be used for a period longer than 5 years.
 Never repair damaged hydraulic hoses with tape.
 While connecting hydraulic hoses to the hydraulic connectors on the tractor make sure
the hydraulic system of the tractor and the mower is not under pressure.
 When working with hydraulic systems wear safety glasses and work gloves. Hydraulic oil under
pressure (16 MPa) can penetrate the skin and cause an infection. In the event of such injury
immediately get medical care.
 The mower should be stored under cover and in a manner preventing any injury to people and
animals.
4.2. Transport
 Any changes in the position of the mower can only be done after making sure that there are no
people in the vicinity of the mower (be careful of children).
 During time of transport install on the mower the portable light board and the triangular safety
sign identifying a slow moving vehicle.
 When transporting the mower it should always be placed in the transporting position.
See point 5.2.
 Before the mower which is mounted on the tractor can be placed in the transporting position
please make sure that the power take-off is turned off and all rotating elements have come to
a complete stop.
 Driving speed should always be appropriate to road conditions.
 Maximum speed of 25 km/h must not be exceeded.
4.2.1. Placing the mower onto a transport vehicle
The carrier and the driver are responsible for safety during the transport of a mower.
All equipment and parts must be secured during transport.
The following rules should be observed when placing a mower onto a transport vehicle:
 the mower can be lifted only in places designated for this purpose and labeled with a hook
sign (Fig. 5),

 equipment having a higher lifting capacity than the weight of the mower, shown on
the identification plate, should be used to hoist the mower. This also concerns lines and chains
used to lift the mower,
 all folding elements should be secured in the transport position,
 while placing the mower onto a transport vehicle non involved persons must not be nearby,
 the mower should be immobilized on the loading platform of the transporting vehicle so that it
cannot move.
WARNING:
The person operating the hoist is responsible for maintaining a safe
environment during lifting of the mower.
4.3. Operating elements
 Before operating the mower check the condition of the flail blades.
 Worn or damaged flail blades should be immediately replaced.
4.4. The articulated telescopic shaft
 Before operating learn provisions found in bar manufacturer's manual placed on the bar.
 Use only articulated telescopic shafts recommended by the manufacturer of the mower.
 In order to operate safely use only fully technically fit, undamaged PTO shafts. Damaged PTO
shaft shall be repaired or replaced with new one.
 Before any operation make sure whether PTO rpm have proper rotational direction.
4.5. Residual risk
Despite the fact that the manufacturer of the mower, SaMASZ, in order to eliminate danger
assumes responsibility for the design and construction of its mowers, some elements of risk are
unavoidable during mower operation.
Major source of risk follows performance of these operations:
 operation of mower by minors as well as not being familiarized with operator's manual,
 operation of mower by persons under influence of alcohol or other abusive substances,
 not keeping caution while transportation and shifting of mower during operation,
 transport of persons remaining on the machine,
 presence of persons and animals within the mower operation range,
 performing operations related to servicing and adjustment with engine on.
1. The danger of getting caught and pulled in
This danger occurs during changing the positioning of the mower, or working on the mower
while the rotating elements are in operation and with the guards removed.
During operation, maintenance or adjustments to the mower always use protective gloves,
covered footwear, protective clothing without any loose elements, such as belts etc. Always observe
the warnings on the mower.
2. The danger of injury
This can occur during the replacement of working elements with sharp edges. During all
repairs and maintenance always wear protective gloves.
3. The danger of spurting hydraulic oil
During hydraulic hose connection and disconnection to and from the tractor make certain that
the hydraulic system of the tractor and the mower are not pressurized.
When dealing with a hydraulic system wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Regularly
check the hoses of the hydraulic system.

WARNING:
Residual risk is the result of inappropriate behavior of the operator.
4. Prohibited activity
Please bear in mind the following bans during mower’s operation:
 never unblock the mower, make any regulations or repairs of the mower while it is in motion,
 never change the order of operation and maintenance activities described in operator’s manual,
 never operate the mower when it is not in working order or has damaged safety guards,
 never get your hands and legs close to rotating parts of the mower,
 during repair and maintenance of the mower always comply with the descriptions included in
operator’s manual. Always do these activities when the tractor’s drive is off,
 before you start any activities, focus your attentionon on them,
 never operate the mower under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or strong medicines,
 your clothes should not be too loose, or too tight. Too loose cloth parts may be pulled in by
the rotating parts of the mower,
 the mower cannot be operated by children or by handicaped people.
When describing residual risk, the mower is treated as a machine, that up to the moment of its
putting in motion it had been designed and manufactured according to technology level actual till
the day of mower’s manufacture.
CAUTION:
Residual risk occurs in case of not complying with described instructions and
bans.
In the event when avoiding or eliminating professional risk resulting from
exposure to noise is not possible through use of mass safety device or work
organization, the employer (farmer):
1) makes available personal hearing safety devices if the levels of noise in
working environment exceed 80 dB.
2) makes available personal hearing safety devices and ensures they are
properly used if the levels of noise in the working environment reach or
exceed 85 dB.
4.6. Warning signs and their meaning
ATTENTION:
all warning signs (labels) should be clean and legible,
in the event of loss or damage of the sign (label) they should be replaced,
signs (labels) can be purchased from the manufacturer.

4.7. Operation and construction of the hydraulic safety
The KBRP mowers have two mechanical types of protection (Fig. 7), protection (1) allows
the cutting unit to be lifted if an obstacle is encountered, protection (2) allows the cutting unit to tilt
back when an obstacle is encountered.
After encountering an obstacle the safety devices (1)and (2)cause the cutting unit to rotate on
the (3) and (4)pins which lifts the cutting unit. After passing the obstacle the mower automatically
returns to operating position.

5. OPERATING THE MOWER
5.1. Connecting the mower to the tractor
The mower should be connected to the tractor using the three point hitch as shown in Fig. 10.
It should be adjusted so that the sliding skid is parallel to the ground. After mounting the mower, its
position should be adjusted on level ground using the upper tie (1) and hangers (2) of the lower
arms of the tractor (Fig. 10).
WARNING:
When mounting the mower on the tractor position of the former should be
adjusted, so that PTO shaft (1) does not collide with any of the mower's parts as
provided on
Fig. 8 . Therefore adjust tractor’s 3-point linkage link right and left tilting and
displace cylinder’s eye (A) by unscrewing bolts and mounting them back in
position I, II or III (Fig. 9).

The hangers (2) of the lower arms of the tractor should be placed on the pins (3) (Błąd! Nie
można odnaleźć źródła odwołania.10) of the suspension frame of the mower. Connect the hydraulic
hoses to two sections of the tractor.
After connecting the mower to the tractor check the lengthwise balance and steering ability of
the tractor-mower unit. In order to achieve this entire unit must be weighed first, then drive onto
the scale only with the front axle of the tractor (the mower must be in the transport position,

lifted up). If the weight of the front axle of the tractor is at least 20 % of the entire weight of the unit
then steering ability has been preserved. If this is not the case the front axle should be additionally
weighed down.

5.2. Preparing the mower for transport
Preparing the rear flail mower mounted on the tractor for transport - movement on roads -
requires the following:
 mount the suspension frame on the lifting arms of the tractor,
 lift the mower on the lifting arms of the tractor using the hydraulic hoist so that the pins of
the uspension frame are at least 50 cm above the ground (Fig. 11),
 using the hydraulic actuator lift the cutting unit into a vertical position and then secure it with
a pin (S) (Fig. 12),
 please drive very slowly on very uneven roads otherwise it can result in damage to elements of
the suspension or to the actuator.

5.3. Connecting the articulated telescopic shaft (PTO)
The cover should be secured so that it does not spin by securing the holding chains to
a permanent part of the body of the tractor and the loop on the guard of the splined shaft of
the mower drive shaft.
ATTENTION:
If need be, shorten the PTO haft according to its operator’s manual given by
the shaft’s manufacturer ( Fig. 13 ).

When shortening PTO shaft pay particular attention to precise adjustment of its length. Too
long a shaft will be damaged when operating the mower.
Well adjusted length of PTO enables the mower to be compacted (causing no damage to the
shaft) to position provided on Fig. 14, where there still be clearance between tube and fork of min.
250 mm (Fig. 15).
Eventually examine whether there still is clearance between tube and fork by positioning the
mower as on Fig. 16 (maximally lifted 3-point linkage and cutterbar faced rightwards).

WARNING:
Operate machinery only with the articulated telescopic shafts designated for
use with that machinery. Before starting work check if all the covers (tractor,
machinery and shaft) are in place and functioning. Damage or lost elements
must be replaced with original spares. Check weather the articulated
telescopic shaft is properly installed. Never get close to rotating parts it could
result in injury or death. During servicing of the shaft or the machine the
engine and the power take-off of the tractor must be turned off. Before
operating any machinery carefully read the operating manuals of the shaft
and the machine.
5.4. Changing the mower position from transport into operating position
 remove the safety pin,
 lower the mower on the lifting arms of the tractor so that the bolts of the suspension frame are
approximately 50 cm above ground (Fig. 11),
 make sure that the space where the mower will be opened is unobstructed and free of people,
 using the lever of the external hydraulic system of the tractor lower the cutting unit so that as it
gets closer to the ground it slows down.
5.5. Preparing the mower for operation
Before starting work please observe the above-mentioned instructions. Upon completion of
these tasks the mower is considered ready for operation and the following can be done:
 in order to control mower gently adjust cylinder's choke valve as desired (Fig. 17),
 gently lower the cutting unit until the coping shaft makes contact with the ground,
 slowly turn on the rear PTO (PTO rmp should be 540) until the flail shaft reaches nominal
speed,
 put the tractor in gear and commence mowing.

5.6. Operation
5.6.1. General information about mowing
 In an urban setting, to ensure that the mower works without breaking, it is recommended that
a pilot, who will mark all obstacles, should walk in front of the mower.
 While crossing roads, on pedestrian crossings or other permanent obstacles the mower must
always be raised using the actuator (5) (Fig. 2).
 In real life the user should use so called "common sense". In regards with this during intense
usage the cost of necessary service checks should be taken into account - see Warranty
conditions point 11.
 After driving onto single bushes with diameters up to about 2 cm. the tractor should be
momentarily stopped until the mower can shred the bush completely and then slowly, in spurts,
move forward so that the cutting unit does not get clogged.
WARNING:
For thick and high vegetation, stumps etc. use heavier machinery.

The KBRP mowers are ideal for mowing road shoulders, drop-offs, greens
(tilt up to -60°; +90°) Fig. 19.
6. MOUNTING AND SETTINGS
6.1. Setting mowing height
In order to level the mower please do the following: with the nut of the upper suspension
system connector adjust the setting of the cutting unit to the desired mowing height. Extending
the connector (1) (Fig. 10) increases mowing height and shortening it decreases it. To set required
mowing height please do the following: factory set mowing height is approximately 3 cm
(Fig. 21 - pos. I). Mowing height of 5, 7.5 and 8 cm. respectively (Fig. 22 - pos. II;
Fig. 23 - pos. III; Fig. 24 - pos. IV) can be obtained by removing the bolts securing
the coping shaft. Assembly should be done in accordance with Fig. 21-Fig. 24.

6.2. Maintenance
6.2.1. Inspecting the tautness of the belts of the belt drive
The tautness of the belts in the belt drive should be periodically inspected. In order to inspect
the tautness of the belts remove the cover (1) and manually check the tautness (Fig. 25). If the belts
yield by more than 2 cm, they should be tightened using bolt (2). In the event when adjustment
using the bolt cannot reduce the yield to less than 2 cm all belts should be replaced.
