Ventilation

lnitial Scan
When your radio is switched on from Standby for the first time it
will scan the DAB band, searching for usable stations. These will be
stored alpha-numerically. The initial scan will take a few minutes.
During the scan the scan progress will be shown on a bargraph and
the number of stations found will be displayed.

Note: lf no stations are found, switch the radio off and riove it to
a location with a stronger signal. You may also move the aerial
around. When you switch the radio back on it will automatically
repeat the scan process.

station informatlon. lf there are no DAB
stations in your area you can set the clock
manually. Refer to the'Setting the Time and

Secondary Services
An X symbol after a station name indicates secondary services are
available. These secondary services are related to the primary station
and are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
Turn the TUNE/SELECT dial until you find the service you want, then
press the dial to select it. When the secondary service ends, the unit
will play the content from the primary station.
Volume Control
. Turn the VOLUME/STANDBY control to adjust the volume level.
The volume level will display briefly at the bottom of the screen.

You can store up to 1 0 ofyour favourite stations as presets.
. Presetting a Station
. Tune to the station you want to save. Press MODE/MENU.

TUNE/SELECT will over-write the location with the new station.

Displaying a Station Name

PROCEDURE
1. Press tf," tUOOg/mgNU control to enter the main
menu,
2. Rotate the TUNE/SEIECT control to select a main
menu option (these are the boxes on the left).
3. Press the TUNE/SELECT control to confirm and enter
the menu option.
4. Execute the procedure and press TUNE/SELECT to
confirm.
The DISPLAY and ORDER menu options have choices
(submenus).
5. Rotate the TUNE/SELECT control to select each
submenu.
6. Press the TUNE/SEIECT control to confirm the chosen
menu option.
When changing between some features in the submenus,
there moy be a deloy before the new selection is displayed.
This is normal and not a cause for concern.

Full scan
You can perform a full scan at any time to scan for new DAB stations.
The stations will be added to your station list.
Press MODE/MENU. The display will show"RECALll'
Rotate TUNE/SELECT until the word "FULL SCAN" displays.
Press TUNE/SELECT again.
During the scan, the scan progress will be
shown on a bargraph and the number of
stations found will be disPlaYed.
When the scan finishes, the radio will play the first station in the
sequence. Existing presets are unaffected.
DRC (Dynamic Range Control)
DRC will compress the sound, making quiet sounds louder. Enable
DRC when listening at very low levels.

The Prune function enables you to delete all unavailable stations
from the Station List. This may be necessary if yo, ,Jru to another

DAB Mode Menu
Altering the Display Mode
I lris function alters what is displayed on the bottom line of the
'.( r(.en. Some display modes depend on what the station broadcasts
different stations display different information.
I . Press MODE/MENU. The display will show "RECALL'
.r. Rotate TUNE/SELECT until the word "DlSPLAY" displays.
i. Press TUNE/SELECT again.
4. Rotate TUNE/SELECT until the chosen display mode displays.
',. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm the new mode and exit.
The Display Modes are:
DATE: Only the Date is displayed
SCROLLING TEXT: The default option.
The informotion scrolls ond refreshes os the
station decides.
SIGNAL STRENGTH:
The signal strength is displayed.
PROGRAM TYPE:The type of programme broadcast by the station
by the station e.g. Music, News, etc.

acceptable reception quality.

reposition the radio and/or the aerial for a better result.

The BBC has its own ensemble, there are
ENSEMBLE:
commercial radio ensembles and so on.
This option tells you what ensemble the
tuned station is port of.
FREQUENCY:
This option displays the frequency ofthe
stotion.
SIGNAT QUALITY:
This option displays the Error Volue of the
signol. A high value is poor, ,,0,, is the best.

DAB stations don't suffer from noise but they are sensitive
to signal errors (dropouts etc.) especially if y:our radio is in
an unfavourable location.
Adjust the position of th'e radio and/or the aerial for the
lowest error value.
t)rganising the Station Order
Ilrr., function alters the order in which the stations display. The
,l,.l,rult display order is Alphanumeric. An alternative method is to
, rrr k,r the stations by ensemble. This keeps together all the stations
rr r , rne ensemble or cluster regardless of the station name.
- Irress MODE/MENU. The display will show "RECALll'
- Rotate TUNE/SELECT until the word "ORDER" displays.
. Press TUNE/SELECT again.
. llotate TUNE/SELECT to select ALPHABETICAL or ENSEMBLE.
lf you order your stations by Ensemble, when you tune
stations by rotating the TUNE control, all the stations in
one ensemble will display in sequence, followed by all
the stations in the next ensemble and so on. While this
is good for keeping say, all the BBC stations together,
other stations may not display in the order you expect!

This function alters what is displayed on the bottom line of the
screen. Some display modes depend on what the station broadcasts
- different stations display different information.
. Press MODE/MENU. The display will show "tlECALL'
. Rotate TUNE/SELECT until the word "t)lSPl AY" displays.
. Press TUNE/SELECT again.
. Rotate TUNE/SELECT until the chosern display mode displays.
. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirrn tlrc rrcw rnode and exit.
The Display Modes are:
FREQUENCY: The Station Frequcrnt y is displayed
PS: This is an eight-character display that represents a stationl call
letters or station name. lf the inforrnation is available it will display. lf
the information is not availablc thc station frequency is displayed.
RADIO TEXT: if the radio station is broadcasting RDS text, this will
appear as scrolling text. lf the station is not broadcasting any text,
the message "NO TEXT" will display
PROGRAM TYPE: The type of programme broadcast by the station
by the station e.g. Music, News, etc. (This is dependent on whether
your chosen station is broadcasting this information).
DATE: The Calendar Date will display.
AUDIO INFO:This tells you the Audio rnode being broadcast.
Normally this will be "AUTO'! This means that the station will usually
broadcast in Stereo but occasionally broodcasts in Mono.
lf "MONO" is displayed this means that the station
usually broadcasts in Mono only, or that the "Mono"
option has been selected in the menu. (See Page 29)

This function allows you to programme the unit to switch to
standby mode by itself after a set time.
. Select the'Sleep'option from the menu.
. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
The sleep time disploy will open.
Turn the TUNE/SELECT dial to select the Sleep time you want

The display will show the clock time but the
sleep indicator will stay on to indicate that the
radio is in "Sleep" mode.

time expires, then set to Standby.

To check the time remaining before the rodio enters sleep mode:
1 . Select the'5leep'option from the menu.
2. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
The time remaining will display for a short period and then the screen
will revert to the previous display.

Setting the Alarm
Yorrr radio includes dual alarms. You can set either or both to wake
yotr ,rt set times.

Setting the AIarm:
. 5elect the Alarm'option from the menu.
. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
The Alarm Setup screen displays.

. Press the TUNE/SEIECT dial to confirm.
The Alarm Setup Screen opens:
. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select'On'
or'Off'. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
This enables or disables the selected alarm.
lf you select'Alarm Off ' the alarm will be disabled and the setup
will exit. lf you select'Alarm On' the setup will continue.

Alarm Repeat: Daily, Weekends, Weekdays
Selecting any of these options directly deploys the Volume screen.

Turn the TUNE/SELECT dial to set the preset station that will
play when the alarm sounds.
Choose any saved preset or select'Last' to play the last station you were
playing.

The Alarm Repeat screen will be displayed.
Set the Repeat Mode.The Alarm Volume displays:
Turn the TUNE/SELECT dial to set the Alarm volume.
Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm and exit.
Alarm 2 (as required) is set up following the same procedure.

Confirming the volume, sets the olarm and completes the setup. The
word "SAVED" will display ond the Alarm setup wizard will exit.

Activating the Alarm
. Press VOLUME/STANDBY (or use the Sleep
function) before you go to sleep.
lf the radio is on when the alarm operates, it will override
your radio programme.
When the alarm sounds you can:
1. Switch the alarm off by setting the radio to Standby.
2. Delay the Alarm by pressing the SNOOZE
button repeatedly.
You can set a snooze time
5-10-l 5 -30minutes.
During the SNOOZE period you can press the SNOOZE button
to see how much snooze time remains. You can also add more
time if you wish. After a few seconds the display reverts.
To disable the Alarm:
. 5elect'Alarm'from the menu. Press TUNE/SELECTto confirm.
. Select Alarm 1 or 2 as required
. Rotate the TUNE/SELECT control to select"OFF"
Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm and disable the alarm.
