1. Before Using Your VCR

If channel 3 is already occupied for broadcasting,

1) Set your TV to channel 4.

2) Insert a pre-recorded tape into this unit.

3) Press [PLAY BB]once to start playback.

4) After a few seconds, press [PLAY BB] on the unit for 3 seconds.

•

The RF output channel will change to channel 4 from channel 3 and

you will see a playback picture.

•

When a picture does not appear on the TV screen, repeat step 4).

5) Press [CCSTOP] to stop playback.

Select this connection when you want to view or record a

scrambled channel.

With this connection, channels cannot

be changed on the VCR.You can view or record ONLY the

channels you have selected on the cable box or the satellite

box.

•While you are recording, only the recorded channel can

be viewed.

o select channels of the cable box or satellite box

1) Turn on the unit by pressing [POWER], then press

[VCR/TV]. The “POWER”and the “VCR/TV”lights on

the front panel will appear, then press

[CHANNEL ] to select channel 3 or 4 (the

same channel as the output channel of the cable box

or satellite box).

•If you use the channel 4, you need to change the

unit’s RF output to channel 4. Refer to “RF Output

Channel”.

2) On the TV, select channel 3 or 4 (the same channel as

you have selected at step 1).

3) On the cable box or satellite box, select the channel

you want to view or record.

Select this connection when you want to change channels

on the unit. With this connection, you may watch one

channel while recording another.

•You may not view or record a scrambled channel.

1) On the cable box, select channel 3 or 4 (the same

channel as the VCR’s RF output channel.)

•Refer to “RF Output Channel”.

2) On the TV, select the same channel as the output

channel (3 or 4) of the cable box.

3) Turn on the unit by pressing [POWER], then press

[VCR/TV]. The “POWER”and “VCR/TV”lights on the

front panel will appear, then select the channel you

want to view or record.

o play back a tape

Follow the steps 1) to 2) above, then play back a tape.

•Refer to “Playback”on page 4.

To view one channel while recording another

While you are recording on the unit, press [VCR/TV].

2)On the cable box, select the channel you want to view.

You can use the AUDIO OUT jacks and

VIDEO OUT jack on the back of the

unit if your TV has Audio/Video Input

jacks. In this case, you need to set the

TV to external Line Input Mode. Please

refer to your TV’s owner’s manual.

Hint

•The RF output channel may not

change when you adjust track-

ing during playback. In this

case, stop the playback, and

start the playback again. After

VCR for 3 seconds again.

2. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

1. Read Instructions- All the safety and operating

instructions should be read before the appliance

is operated.

2. Retain Instructions- The safety and operating

instructions should be retained for future refer-

ence.

3. Heed Warnings- All warnings on the appliance

and in the operating instructions should be

adhered to.

4. Follow Instructions- All operating and use

instructions should be followed.

5. Cleaning- Unplug this video product from the

wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid

cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth

for cleaning.

EXCEPTION: A product that is meant for unin-

terrupted service and, that for some specific

reason, such as the possibility of the loss of an

authorization code for a CATV converter, is not

intended to be unplugged by the user for clean-

ing or any other purpose, may exclude the refer-

ence to unplugging the appliance in the clean-

ing description otherwise required in item 5.

6. Attachments- Do not use attachments not rec-

ommended by the video product manufacturer

as they may cause hazards.

7. Water and Moisture- Do not use this video

product near water, for example, near a bath

tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a

wet basement, or near a swimming pool, and

the like.

8. Accessories- Do not place this video product

on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or

table. The video product may fall, causing seri-

ous injury to a child or adult, and serious dam-

age to the appliance. Use only with a cart,

stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by

the manufacturer, or sold with the video product.

Any mounting of the appliance should follow the

manufacturer's instructions and should use a

mounting accessory recommend-

ed by the manufacturer. An appli-

ance and cart combination should

be moved with care. Quick stops,

excessive force, and uneven sur-

faces may cause the appliance

and cart combination to overturn.

9. Ventilation- Slots and openings in the cabinet

are provided for ventilation and to ensure reli-

able operation of the video product and to pro-

tect it from overheating, and these openings

must not be blocked or covered. The openings

should never be blocked by placing the video

product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar sur-

face. This video product should not be placed in

a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack

unless proper ventilation is provided or the man-

ufacturer's instructions have been adhered to.

10. Power Sources- This video product should be

operated only from the type of power source

indicated on the marking label. If you are not

sure of the type of power supply to your home,

consult your appliance dealer or local power

company. For products intended to operate from

battery power, or other sources, refer to the

operating instructions.

11. Grounding or Polarization- This video product

is equipped with a polarized alternating-current

line plug (a plug having one blade wider than

the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet

only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are

unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try

reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to

fit, contact your electrician to replace your obso-

lete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of

the polarized plug.

12. Power Cord Protection- Power supply cords

should be routed so that they are not likely to be

walked on or pinched by items placed upon or

against them, paying particular attention to

cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and

the point where they exit from the appliance.

13. Outdoor Antenna Grounding- If an outside

antenna or cable system is connected to the

video product, be sure the antenna or cable sys-

tem is grounded so as to provide some protec-

tion against voltage surges and built-up static

charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical

Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70, provides information

with regard to proper grounding of the mast and

supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in

wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of

grounding conductors, location of antenna-dis-

charge unit, connection to grounding electrodes,

and requirements for the grounding electrode.

14. Lightning- For added protection for this video

product during a lightning storm, or when it is

left unattended and unused for long periods of

time, unplug it from the wall outlet and discon-

nect the antenna or cable system. This will pre-

vent damage to the video product due to light-

ning and power-line surges.

15. Power Lines- An outside antenna system

should not be located in the vicinity of overhead

power lines or other electric light or power cir-

cuits, or where it can fall into such power lines

or circuits. When installing an outside antenna

system, extreme care should be taken to keep

from touching such power lines or circuits as

contact with them might be fatal.

16. Overloading- Do not overload wall outlets,

extension cords, or integral convenience recep-

tacles as this can result in a risk of fire or elec-

tric shock.

17. Object and Liquid Entry- Never push objects

of any kind into this video product through any

openings as they may touch dangerous voltage

points or short-out parts that could result in a

fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any

kind on the video product.

18. Servicing- Do not attempt to service this video

product yourself as opening or removing covers

may expose you to dangerous voltage or other

hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service

personnel.

19. Damage Requiring Service- Unplug this video

product from the wall outlet and refer servicing

to qualified service personnel under the follow-

ing conditions:

a. When the power-supply cord or plug is dam-

aged.

b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen

into the video product.

c. If the video product has been exposed to rain or

water.

d. If the video product does not operate normally

by following the operating instructions. Adjust

only those controls that are covered by the

operating instructions as an improper adjust-

ment of other controls may result in damage

and will often require extensive work by a quali-

fied technician to restore the video product to its

normal operation.

e. If the video product has been dropped or dam-

aged in any way.

f. When the video product exhibits a distinct

change in performance-this indicates a need for

service.

20. Replacement Parts- When replacement parts

are required, be sure the service technician has

used replacement parts specified by the manu-

facturer or have the same characteristics as the

original part. Unauthorized substitutions may

result in fire, electric shock or other hazards.

21. Safety Check- Upon completion of any service

or repairs to this video product, ask the service

technician to perform safety checks to determine

that the video product is in proper operating

condition.

22. Heat- This video product should be situated

away from heat sources such as radiators, heat

registers, stoves, or other products (including

amplifiers) that produce heat.

To Select a Channel

You can select a channel by using

the Number buttons on the remote

control.

Notes for using the Number

buttons:

•

When selecting cable channels which

are higher than 99, enter channel

numbers as a three-digit number. (For

example: 117, press [1], [1], [7])

•You must precede single-digit

channel numbers with a zero (For

example: 02, 03, 04 and so on).

To Preset the Channel Again

1) Press [MENU] until the main menu appears.

2) Press [PLAY BB]or [CCSTOP] to select

“CHANNEL SET UP”, then press

[F.FWD gg].

3) Press [PLAY BB]or [CCSTOP] to select

“

AUTO SET UP

”, then press

[F.FWD gg]. After scanning, the tuner stops

on the lowest memorized channel.

To Change the On-Screen Language

1) Press [MENU] until the main menu appears.

Accidental erasure prevention

To prevent accidental recording on a record-

ed cassette, remove its record tab. To record

on it later, cover the hole with adhesive tape.

To cue or review picture during play-

back (Picture Search)

Press [F.FWD gg] or [hhREW].

•Press it again and the VCR will now

search in super high speed. (in the

LP/SLP modes only)

To freeze the picture on TV screen

during playback (Still mode)

Press [PAUSE/STILL]. Each time you

press the button, the picture will be for-

warded by one frame.

•If the picture begins to vibrate vertically

during the still mode, press

[CHANNEL ] to stabilize the picture.

•If the picture is distorted or rolling verti-

cally, adjust the vertical hold control on

your TV if equipped.

Counter Reset

Press [C.RESET/EXIT].

To play back in slow motion

Press [SLOW] during playback or the still

mode.

•If the noise bar appears on the TV

screen, you can reduce it by pressing

[CHANNEL ].

To temporarily stop recording

(Pause mode)

Press [PAUSE/STILL].

•During the rec pause mode, five

marks appear on the TV screen. Each

mark represents one minute.

•Press it again to resume recording.

Auto Rewind

When a tape reaches its end during play-

back, fast-forward, or recording (except

timer recording and One Touch Recording),

the tape will automatically rewind to the

beginning. After rewinding finishes, the unit

will eject the tape and turn itself to off.

•If channel 3 is already occupied for

broadcasting, see “RF Output Channel”section.

6. Other Operations

Hint

•Still/Slow/Pause mode will be automatically cancelled after 5 minutes to prevent damage to the tape and the

video head.

•To return to playback from the Picture Search/Still/Slow mode, press [PLAY BB].

1) Insert a pre-recorded tape into the playing VCR.

2) Insert a tape with its record tab into the recording VCR.

3) Press [SPEED] on the remote control of the recording VCR to select

the desired recording speed (“SP”or “SLP”).

4) Select the “L1”or “L2”position on the recording VCR.

•To use the input jacks on the back of this unit, press [0],[0],[1] on the

remote control or [CHANNEL ] to select “L1”position.

•To use the input jacks on the front of this unit, press [0],[0],[2] on the

remote control or [CHANNEL ] to select “L2”position.

5) Press [REC/OTR] on the recording VCR.

6) Begin playback of the tape in the playing VCR.

7) To stop recording, press [STOP/EJECT CC/ AA]on the recording VCR,

then stop playback of the tape in the playing VCR.

main menu.

3) Press [PLAY BB] or [CCSTOP] to

select “TIMER PROGRAM-

MING”, then press [F.FWD gg].

selected will appear on the TV

screen.

•Press [F.FWD gg]or

[hhREW] to go the digit you

want to change, then press

[PLAY BB] or [CCSTOP] to enter

correct numbers.

•You may cancel the entire pro-

gram by pressing [hhREW]

while the program number flash-

es.

5) Press [C.RESET/EXIT] to exit.

6) Press [POWER] to return to

timer stand-by mode.

•To go back one step, press

[hhREW]

(during the steps 3) to 9) ).

•If there is a power failure or the unit has been unplugged for more than 30 sec-

onds, the clock setting and all timer settings will be lost.

•If the tape runs out before the end time, the unit will switch to the Stop mode

immediately, eject the tape and the power will be turned off. The TIMER indicator

will flash.

•If a tape is not in the unit or does not have the record tab, the TIMER indicator

flashes and timer recording cannot be performed. Please insert a recordable tape.

•When all the Timer Recording are completed, the TIMER indicator flashes.

To play or eject the recorded tape, press [POWER] first, and then press

[PLAY

] or [

EJECT].

Press [STOP/EJECT

]on the unit.

Hint

•For best results during dubbing, use the VCR’s front panel controls whenever possible. The

remote control might affect the playing VCR’s operation.

•Always use video-quality shielded cables with RCA-type connectors. Standard audio cables are

not recommended.

•You can use a video disc player, satellite receiver, or other audio/video component with A/V outputs.

•“L1”or “L2”is found before the lowest memorized channel (example: CH02).

•"L2" input jacks are on the front of this unit.

Cabinet Cleaning

•Wipe the front panel and other exterior sur-

faces of the unit with a soft cloth immersed

in lukewarm water and wrung dry.

•Never use a solvent or alcohol. Do not spray

insecticide liquid near the unit. Such chemi-

cals may cause damage and discoloration to

the exposed surfaces.

Auto Head Cleaning

•Automatically cleans video heads as you insert or

remove a cassette, so you can see a clear picture.

•Playback picture may become blurred or interrupt-

ed while the TV program reception is clear. Dirt

accumulated on the video heads after long peri-

ods of use, or the usage of rental or worn tapes

can cause this problem. If a streaky or snowy pic-

ture appears during playback, the video heads in

your unit may need to be cleaned.

1. Please visit your local Audio/Video store and pur-

chase a good quality VHS Video Head Cleaner.

2. If a Video Head Cleaner does not solve the

problem, please call our help line mentioned left

to locate an Authorized Service Center.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

•Make sure the power plug is connected to an AC outlet.

•Make sure the power is turned on.

•Make sure the timer recording is set correctly.

•Make sure the power is off.

•Make sure the VCR clock is set correctly.

•Make sure the tape has a record tab. If needed, cover the hole with

adhesive tape.

•Press [CHANNEL ] to adjust tracking control for a better

•Change the RF output channel to CH4. Then select the same

on the unit disappears.

5. Limpieza- Desenchufe este aparato de vídeo de la

toma de corriente eléctrica antes de comenzar

cualquier tarea de limpieza. No use líquidos de

limpieza o aerosoles para tal tarea. Use una bayeta

húmeda para las tareas de limpieza.

EXCEPCIÓN: Un producto que estéespecificado

para proceder a un mantenimiento sin interrupción

de la actividad del aparato y, que por una razón

específica, como por ejemplo la posibilidad de

perdida de autorización de un convertidor CATV

(televisión cable), no se contemplase la

desconexión del aparato por el usuario para

proceder a tareas de limpieza u otros objetivos, en

este caso la referencia concerniente a la

descripción hecha sobre la desconexión para tareas

de limpieza requeridas en el punto 5 queda

excluida.

6. Accesorios- No haga uso de accesorios que no

estén recomendados por la fabricante del aparato

de vídeo ya que estos pueden ser causa de

peligros innecesarios.

7. Agua y Humedad- No use el aparato de vídeo

cerca de agua, por ejemplo, cerca de una bañera,

cuenco de agua para el lavado, fregador de la

cocina o un desagüe de una lavadora, en un bajo

con alto nivel de humedad, o cerca de una piscina y

elementos parecidos.

8. Soportes- No ubique este vídeo sobre un carro,

apal, trípode, soporte, o mesa que no sea lo

suficientemente sólida y estable.Ya que el aparato

de vídeo pudiera caerse produciendo serias heridas

a un niño o adulto, y serios daños en el aparato.

Use sólo carros, apales, trípodes, soportes, o

mesas recomendadas por el fabricante, o vendidos

junto con el vídeo. Cualquier montaje debe respetar

los pasos especificados por el fabricante en el

manual de instrucciones y con los accesorios de

montaje recomendados por el

fabricante. El aparato y el carro en

conjunto deben ser movidos con

cuidado. Paradas bruscas, una fuerza

excesiva, y superficies o suelos que

no sean lisos pueden ser causa del

vuelco del conjunto carro-vídeo al

suelo.

9. Ventilación- Las ranuras y aberturas en la

estructura del aparato han sido provistas para la

ventilación y para asegurar una fiable actividad de

operación del aparato de vídeo asícomo para

protegerlo de recalentamientos por lo que estas

aberturas no deben ser tapadas ni bloqueadas. Las

aperturas no deben ser nunca cerradas al ser

ubicado el aparato sobre una cama, sofá, alfombra

u otras superficies similares. Este aparato de vídeo

no debe ser ubicado en una estructura cerrada

como por ejemplo una librería o vitrina a menos que

esa librería o vitrina tenga provista por su fabricante

de la ventilación necesaria o las instrucciones del

manual del fabricante hayan sido respetadas.

10. Fuentes de Energía- Este aparato de vídeo debe

ser operado sólo desde una fuente de energía

indicada en el etiquetado. Si UD no estuviera

seguro del tipo de suministro eléctrico que existe en

su vivienda, consulte al distribuidor de su aparato o

compañía eléctrica local. Para productos para ser

usados mediante el uso de pilas u otras fuentes,

consulte el manual de instrucciones.

11. Conexión Tierra o Polarización- Este aparato de

vídeo esta equipado con un enchufe y cableado

polarizado de corriente alterna (un enchufe con una

clavija más ancha que la otra). Este enchufe puede

ser conectado a la toma de corriente sólo de una

manera. Esta es una medida de seguridad. Si UD

no pudiese conectar el enchufe en la fuente de

corriente completamente, intente enchufarlo en la

posición contraria. Si todavía no pudiera conseguir

enchufarlo, contacte a su electricista para que le

cambie el enchufe de la fuente de corriente que

pudiera estar deteriorado. No trate de enchufar el

aparato intentando saltarse la polarización de

seguridad prevista por el fabricante.

12. Protección del Cable de Corriente- Los cables de

corriente eléctrica deberán esta ubicados de tal

manera que no puedan ser pisados o enganchados

o pillados por ningún objeto, preste especial

atención el cableado cuya sección este justo en el

enchufe, en las partes de las conexiones y en las

salidas desde el aparato.

13. Conexión Tierra de una Antena Exterior- Si una

antena exterior o sistema de cable es conectado al

aparato de vídeo, asegúrese de que la antena o el

cableado tenga conexión tierra para conseguir de

esta manera una protección contra voltajes no

deseados y cargas estáticas. El artículo 810 del

Código de Electricidad Nacional ANSI/NFPA

número 70, proporciona información acerca de la

manera adecuada de conexiones a tierra de la

estructura del mástil y la estructura soporte, sobre

la unidad del cable del interior de cobre de antena,

tamaño de los conductores tierra, ubicación de la

unidad de descarga de la antena, conexión a los

electrodos tierra, y requerimientos de los electrodos

tierra. (Fig. A)

14. Tormentas- Para añadir una protección a este

aparato de vídeo durante tormentas (rayos, etc.) o

cuando es dejado desatendido y sin ser usado

durante largos periodos de tiempo, desenchúfelo de

la fuente de corriente eléctrica y desconéctelo de la

antena o sistema de cable. Esta medida de

prevención evitaráque se produzca cualquier daño

en el aparato durante tormentas y problemas de

sobretensión en el cableado.

15. Cables de Suministro Eléctrico- Un sistema de

antena de exteriores no debe ser ubicada cerca de

cables de corriente de alta tensión u otros circuitos

de corriente de iluminación o en las cercanías de

circuitos que pudieran entrar en contacto. Cuando

instale un sistema de antena de exteriores, debe

tener especial cuidado de ubicar la antena de tal

manera que no entre en contacto con líneas o

cables ce corriente eléctrica o circuitos ya que esta

posibilidad puede tener consecuencias fatales.

16. Sobrecarga- Tenga cuidado de que no se

produzcan sobrecargas en las tomas de corriente

de su vivienda y en los cables extensores de

corriente ya que esto puede ser causa de un

incendio o descarga eléctrica.

17. Entrada de objetos o líquidos- No introduzca

nunca ningún objeto en las aberturas del aparato ya

que podría tocar componentes de voltaje peligrosos

partes peligrosas con lo que podría producirse un

incendio o descarga eléctrica. Tenga cuidado de no

derramar ningún tipo de líquido en este aparato de

vídeo.

18. Servicio (mantenimiento-reparación)- No intente

llevar a cabo labores de reparación o mantenimiento

mediante la apertura de este aparato.Ya que la

apertura de la estructura puede exponerle a

cantidades de voltaje peligrosas u otros peligros.

Para estas tareas póngase en contacto con

personal cualificado para dichos casos.

19. Daños que Requieren Reparación- Desenchufe el

aparato de vídeo de la toma (fuente) de corriente de

su vivienda y póngase en contacto con personal

cualificado ante las siguientes situaciones.

a. Cuando el cable de suministro de corriente eléctrica

o enchufe haya sufrido un daño.

b. Cuando se haya derramado un líquido en el interior

del aparato de vídeo u algún objeto.

c. Cuando haya entrado en contacto con la lluvia o

agua.

d. Cuando el vídeo no funcione correctamente una

vez se haya seguido las instrucciones de uso

adecuadamente. Ajuste solo los controles que estén

especificados en el manual de instrucciones ya que

el ajuste inadecuado de otros controles puede ser

causa de un daño (avería, etc.) y puede que sea

necesaria la labor de un técnico especializado para

reparar el vídeo o restablecer adecuadamente

dichos ajustes.

e. Cuando el vídeo se haya caído o averiado por

cualquier causa.

f. Cuando el aparato de vídeo muestra un

funcionamiento anormal es seguridad prevista por

el fabricante.

20. Recambios- Cuando recambios sean necesarios,

asegúrese de que el técnico a remplazado las

partes dañadas con recambios especificadas por el

fabricante o que estas tienen las mismas

características que las partes originales.

Sustituciones desautorizadas pueden ser causa de

un incendio, descargas eléctricas no deseadas o de

otros peligros.

21. Verificación de Seguridad- Una vez se haya

procedido a la reparación de las partes afectadas

del aparato de video, pídale al técnico que proceda

a efectuar las verificaciones de seguridad para

determinar que el aparato de vídeo funciona

correctamente.

22. Calor- Este aparato de vídeo debe ser ubicado lejos

de cualquier fuente de calor como por ejemplo

radiadores, estufas u otros objetos (incluyendo

amplificadores) que produzcan calor.

12. Mantenimiento

Limpieza del mueble

•Frote el panel delantero y otras superficies

exteriores de la unidad con un paño suave

empapado con agua tibia y estrujada.

•Nunca utilice un disolvente o alcohol. No

rocíe insecticida líquido cerca de la unidad.

Estos químicos pueden provocar daños y

decoloración de las superficies expuestas.

Limpieza automática de cabezas

•Limpia automáticamente las cabezas de video

cada vez que coloca o retira un casete para que

pueda ver una imagen nítida.

•La imagen reproducida puede verse borrosa o

cortarse a pesar de que la recepción de

programas de TV es nítida. La suciedad

acumulada en las cabezas de video después de

un largo período de uso o el uso de cintas de

alquiler o desgastadas puede provocar este

problema. Si aparece una imagen con rayas o

nieve durante la reproducción, las cabezas de

video de su unidad pueden requerir una limpieza.

Visite su tienda de audio/video local y compre

un Limpiador de Cabezas de Video VHS de

buena calidad.

2. Si un Limpiador de Cabezas de Video no

soluciona el problema, llame a nuestro teléfono

•Asegúrese que el VCR no estáen el modo de menús.

•Cambie el canal de salida RF al CA4. Seleccione el mismo canal en
