Introducingthe newSargent STINGER 310 series modularalarmsystem.
Basedon newtechnologyandatwoyeardesignprocess,theStinger310 incorporates ideas and
feedbackfromusers andexperts throughoutthecaravanandsecurityindustries.
Designedtobemodular,thesystemcanbeexpandedbyaforthcomingrange of wiredandwireless
accessories.
Toensure your STINGER310 systemisoperatedcorrectly,please readallsectionsof these
instructionsbeforeattemptingtouse thealarm. Ifyouare unsure ofany content, pleasecontactyour
supplier inthe firstinstance or the manufacturer direct.
Each STINGER310 issuppliedwithtwokeyfobstyle radiocontrollers,whichareusedto
operate the alarmsystem.Eachkeyfobhas four buttons whichcanbe usedas follows;
LEDTorch button
Pressandholdthe buttontouse the torchfornighttime convenience
Arm/ Disarmbutton
Pressandreleasethe button toarmthe alarm(one beep)
Pressandreleasethe button todisarmthe alarm(twoshortbeeps)
Toarmthe alarmwithoutthe PIRmovementsensor (ifyouleave pets inside etc)press and
holdthe armbuttonandrelease after youhear one beepfollowedbytwobeeps
AwningLightbutton
Pressandreleasethe button toturntheawning lightonor off
(note:awning lightcontrol is anoptional featurenotpresentinall caravanmodels)
ProgrammingModebutton
Pressandholdthebuttonfor10secondstoaccessthe3programmingmodes,whichare
indicatedbyseries of long beeps,as follows:
Operation-usingthe keyfob
Presstheprogrammodebutton againtoexitprogrammingmode,whichisindicatedbyoneextra long
beep.

Onelongbeep-Tiltsensoradjustment
Pressthearm/disarmbutton toselect therequired setting. 1beep=lowsensitivity forwindy conditions. 2beeps=standard
sensitivity (default). 3beeps=High sensitivity. Presstheprogrammodebutton tomovetothenextsetting.
Two longbeeps-Beepervolumeadjustment
Pressthearm/disarmbutton tocycle through the7available volume levels. When youarehappywith theselected volume,
presstheprogrammodebuttontomovetothenextsetting.
Threelongbeeps-PIR movement sensoradjustment
Pressthearm/disarmbutton toselect therequired setting/pulsecount.1beep =high sensitivity forhotenvironments.
2beeps=standardsensitivity (default).3beeps=lowsensitivity forhostile /cold environments.

The STINGER310 comes completewitha120°Passive Infra Red(PIR)internal movementsensor
thatdetectsbodymovementwithinthevehicle.WiththesystemdisarmedagreenLEDwithinthePIR
will indicate movementdetection.
Operation-the PIR internalmovementsensor
Ifyou are leavingpetswithinthevehicle thesystemshouldbearmedwithout
thePIRsensoractive (see keyfobarm/disarmsection)topreventyourpet
fromtriggering the alarm.
Pleasebeawarethatextremes oftemperaturecanaffecttheoperation ofthe
PIR.Withtemperaturesabove 30degCthePIR’sabilitytodetectahuman
bodyisreduced,andtherefore thesensitivitycanbeadjustedtoimprove
detection.Withtemperatures belowzerothePIR’ssensitivitywillincrease,
andtherefore the sensitivitycanbereducedtoeliminatefalse triggering.
Pleaseensure roof lightblindsareclosedifsunlightcouldshinedirectlyonto
thePIR.Ifheatingventsare locatednearthePIR please ensure these are
closedtopreventcolddraughts affecting thePIR.
The STINGER310 incorporates anewelectronic tiltandmotionsensorwithautomatic calibration
andeasysensitivityadjustmentfromthekeyfob.Thisfeature provides excellenttiltdetectionwithno
moving parts.
Operation-the tiltsensor
Thetiltsensorworksautomaticallyanddoesnotneedadjustmentfornormal
useevenifyouparkon asteepincline.Thesensitivityofthesensorcanbe
adjustedas describedinthe keyfobprogramming section.
Operation -awninglight
Whenthe STINGER310 alarmsystemisarmedordisarmedtheawninglightwill beactivatedfora
periodofoneminutetoprovideilluminationwhilstenteringorexitingthecaravan. Theawninglight
canbeturnedoff duringthisperiodbypressingtheawninglightbutton onthekeyfobifrequired.
(note:awninglightcontrol is anoptional feature notpresentinall caravanmodels)
The awninglightcanbe turnedonor offatany timebypressing andreleasing the awning lightbutton.
Operation -marker/taillights
Whenthe STINGER310 alarmsystemisarmedordisarmedthemarker /taillightswill flashto
indicatethe armedor disarmedstate ofthe alarm.
Oneflashindicatesarmedandtwoflashesindicates disarmed.These flashesmatchthearm/disarm
beeps describedearlier.
Whenthe alarmistriggeredthe marker / tail lights willflashfor 2minutes.
(note:marker /taillightcontrolisanoptional feature notpresentinallcaravanmodels,andwill only
operate whena leisure batteryis fitted)

The STINGER310 containsadual sounder unitthatprovides theloudalarmsirenandthevolume
adjustable beeper sound.
Whenthealarmistriggeredthesirenwillsoundfor2minutes.Followingthe2-minuteperiodthe
alarmwill thendeactivate for 15 seconds andthenrearm.
The alarmsirencanbe turnedoffatany pointbypressing the keyfobarm/disarmbutton.
Whenthealarmisdisarmedthebeeper will soundtwobeepstoconfirmthedisarm.Ifthealarmhas
beentriggeredduringthearmedperiodthebeeper will soundthree beepsifthePIRtriggeredthe
alarm,fourbeepsifthetiltsensorcausedthealarmandfive beepsifthePIRsecuritylooporaccessory
sensorcausedthealarm. Ifyou hearmultiple pips(shortbeeps)whenyou disarmthealarm,this
indicatedthatthe internalbackupbatteryis lowandtherefore shouldbe charged.
The beepervolumecanbe adjustedusingthe keyfobprogrammingfeature describedearlier.
Alarmsiren
The STINGER310 keyfobcontrollers use twolithium button cells (CR2032)ineachkeyfob.Please
note thatexcessive use of the LEDtorchwillreducethe life ofthe batteries considerably.
Toreplacethebatteries,firstlyremovethefourcrossheadscrewsfromtheundersideofthefob,then
pull apartthetwohalves ofthefob.Remove theusedbatteries from thelower halfofthecase,then
insertthenewbatteriesinthesamemanner,notingthatthebatterypositive(+)faces awayfromthe
greencircuitboard.Nowreassemble thefobcasingandrefitthescrews,takingcarenottoover
tighten.
Battery-keyfob
The STINGER310 systemunitusesaspecial 4.8voltNickel Metal Hydridebatterypackthatsupplies
backupbatterypower tothesystemshouldthesupplyfrom theleisurebatteryfailorbedisconnected.
Itisrecommendedthatthealarmsystemispermanentlyconnectedtoa12voltsupply.Whenfully
chargedthebatterywill provideapproximately6monthsstand-aloneoperation,dependingon
temperature conditions.Itis recommendedthatthis batterypackis replacedevery3years.
Ifthebatterybecomes dischargedthiswill beindicatedbyaflashingredLEDinthePIRandaperiodic
beepfromthe beeper.(note:see sectionbelowregarding beeps ondisarming)
Before placingyourcaravaninstorageplease ensure thecaravanhas hadafullychargedleisure
batteryfittedorthemainschargerswitchedon foratleast14 dayspriortostoragetoensurethethe
internal backupbatteryisfullycharged.Itisrecommendedthataleisure batteryremainsconnectedto
the caravanduring storage.
Always dispose of oldbatteries inaccordancewithlocal regulations.

The STINGER310 systemisinstalledbymany caravanmanufacturers as standardequipmentand
canalsobeinstalledbyspecialistdealers /installers.Ifyourequire installationinstructionsplease
contactour service desk(see sectionbelow).
Ifyou areaddingother electrical equipmenttoyourcaravan,suchas motormovers,vehicle trackersor
otherradiocontrolledequipment, please ensure thattheequipmentispositionedatleast500mmaway
fromthe Stinger 310 base unitandPIR.
