Lable Wires and Remove Old WallplateRemove Old Thermostat
1. Turn off power at heating/cooling system (or fuse/circuit-breaker panel).
2. Remove cover and thermostat.
Is there a sealed tube containing mercury?
If so, see inside front cover of this manual
for proper disposal instructions.

1. Use a screwdriver to disconnect wires one by one. As you disconnect each wire ,
wrap it with the label matching the letter on your old thermostat.
(Adhesive labels are supplied in your thermostat package.)
2. Remove the old wallplate only after all wires are labeled. Be careful not to let
loose wires fall into the wall opening.
Wrap supplied labels securely around each wire.
Do not let wires fall into wall opening!
Do not use wire color as a guide.
Use only letter on the labels to
identify wire types.

3. Grasp top and bottom of wallplate and pull to remove from thermostat.

New Thermostat Installation
1. Drill holes at pencil-marked locations:
2. Use hammer to tap
anchors into holes until
flush with wall.
3. Place wallplate over
anchors and insert screws.
Check level if desired,
then tighten screws.
4. Connect wires to terminal block
on base using appropriate wiring
schematic.
5. Carefully line the thermostat up
with the base and snap into place.

1. Match each labeled wire with
same letter on terminal.
(Use HEAT PUMP letters if

screw terminals, insert wires,
then tighten screws.

Front Panel 2 AA Batteries

Batteries Installation
Battery Location:
Batteries are optional (to provide backup power) if your thermostat was wired
to run on AC power when installed.
Battery replacement:
Install fresh batteries immediately when the “ ” warning begins flashing. Low Batt
The warning flashes about 60 days before batteries are depleted. Even if the
warning does not appear, you should replace batteries once a year, or before
leaving home for more than 1 month.
To replace batteries, set system to OFF, remove thermostat from wall and
install the batteries in the rear along thetop of the thermostat.
Alternate Wiring-For Heat Pumps Only
If labels do not match letters on the thermostat,
check the chart at right and connect to terminal
as shown here (see notes, below).

The thermostat is programmed with the energy saving settings shown in the
table below for all days of the week. If this program suits your needs, simply set
the thermostat clock and press the RUN button. The table below shows the factory
set heating and cooling schedule for all days of the week
1.In Heating, lower temperatures will save energy
2.In Cooling, higher temperatures will save energy
3.If you plan on using Auto Changeover, set the heating temperature below
the cooling set temperature for more than the value of pre-set dead ban
(See configuration menu item 5).
