Warnings and safety instructions
The RespiCare® Wellness chair can safely support people weighing up to 120 kg: when used by
heavier people there is a risk of damage to the RespiCare® Wellness.
When using an electrical appliance, you should always follow these basic precautions:
• Always unplug this unit from the power supply as soon as you have finished using it and
before cleaning it.
• Keep your hands and fingers away from the massage mechanism and rollers while they
are in operation. Touching the mechanism may cause the rollers to compress and injure
you.
• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service
representative or a qualified technician.
• An appliance should never be left unattended when connected to the AC power supply.
Unplug the unit from the power supply when not in use and before inserting or removing
parts.
• Do not cover this device with a blanket or pillow. Overheating may occur and cause fire,
electric shock or injury.
• Close supervision is necessary when this chair is used near or by children or persons with
disabilities. Keep children away from the extended footrest (or other similar parts).
• Use this chair for what it was designed for, as described in this guide.
• Use only accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
• Never use this product if the power cord or plug is damaged. If it does not function
properly, has been cut or damaged, or has been submerged, return this chair to a service
center for examination and repair.
• Do not transport this unit by pulling on the power cord. Do not use the power cord as a
handle.
• Always keep the power cord away from any heat source.
• Never insert any object into any opening.
• Do not use this chair outdoors.
• Do not operate in an area where aerosol (spray) products are used or where medical
oxygen is administered.
• To unplug, exit the software and remove the plug from the socket.

• Do not use this device on a wet surface or when any part of your body is in contact with a
plumbing or similar structure.
• Only connect this appliance to a properly grounded outlet. Refer to GROUNDING
INSTRUCTIONS.
• Do not use this chair if it makes a noise higher than normal.
• Do not stand on or in the unit. Use this unit only in a seated position.
• Use heating surfaces with care. Risk of serious burns. Do not use this device on a sensitive
skin area or if you suffer from poor blood circulation.
• This product may be dangerous if used by children or disabled persons without
supervision.
• Keep these instructions near the chair.
• Never attempt to repair this chair yourself.
• In the case of intensive use that may increase the wear and tear on the wheelchair, the
maintenance intervals should be adjusted accordingly.
Grounding instructions:
• To prevent electric shock, this chair must be connected to a grounded circuit.
In the event of malfunction or breakage, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock
by allowing electrical current to flow through the path of least resistance. This chair is
equipped with a power cord with a grounding conductor and plug. The plug must be
plugged into a properly installed and properly grounded outlet in accordance with
local codes and ordinances.
Caution:
Improper connection of the grounding conductor results in a risk of electric shock. Consult a
qualified electrician or technician if you are not sure that this chair is properly grounded.
Do not modify the plug supplied with the chair - if it does not fit into the outlet, have a
proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
This chair is suitable for a nominal current circuit of 100 to 240 volts. It is equipped with a
standard grounding plug adapted to your place of use.

If possible, do not use a multi-plug to connect this device to the power supply. When
using a multi-plug, connect only the chair and tablet charger to this socket and no other
devices.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing when using this product.
A relaxed posture is necessary in order to enjoy the benefits of this chair. Never put
pressure on any part of your body resting on the backrest while the rollers are in
motion.
If you experience abnormal discomfort while using this product, turn it off immediately,
stop using it, and consult your doctor. Do not pull on the power cord.
If you use this product after a long period of storage, check that it works properly
beforehand.
Always make sure that there are no obstacles behind the chair. Make sure there is
enough space to tilt the chair.

About the RespiCare® Wellness
The RespiCare®Wellness chair is not a Medical Device
This is an equipment to practice ventilatory exercises for the purpose of promoting health
Specific exercises promote amplification of ventilation and respiratory awareness.
The person is installed in a forward-back seated position promoting good hemodynamics, without
straining the heart with evenly distributed support.
The active system of the RespiCare® Wellness chair drives progressive programmable para-spinal
thrusts.
The rhythm of the pushes and their pressure can be adjusted according to the objectives and the
desired progressiveness.
In addition to the mechanical action, a software pre-programmed and adjustable by the
practitioner, accompanies by voice and music the pushing rhythms.
The biomechanical effect of RespiCare® Wellness promotes the contraction of the external
intercostal muscles increasing the volume of the rib cage by lowering the diaphragm. The natural
descent of the viscera thus amplifies the volume of the rib cage and increases aspiratory volume.
This increase in tidal volume allows for greater respiratory gas exchange. Regular training in the
RespiCare® Wellness significantly increases lung capacity.

Installation
As the owner, you are the administrator of your RespiCare® Wellness and you can set up many
functions.
If your RespiCare® Wellness is intended for personal use, you can choose to leave everything
configurable.
On the other hand, if you want to put your RespiCare® Wellness in service which persons which
doesn’t know the product, you need to limit certain accesses and lock certain parameters to values
that you decide, for example, to impose the "Relaxation" exercise over a period of 10 minutes.
You can also set the default configuration, i.e. the one that will be offered by default to each new
user coming to the RespiCare® Wellness.
First time use of the RespiCare® Wellness
This manual will allow you to install your RespiCare® Wellness and quickly understand
how to use the program pre-installed on the tablet that controls your RespiCare®
Wellness, read it thoroughly before installation and before use to understand all its
features.

Installation of the RespiCare® Wellness
Make sure you install the RespiCare® Wellness in sufficient space for safe and comfortable use.
Installation Precautions
Make sure that the distance between the plug and the switch is less than 1.5m to avoid
damaging the power cable when the chair is tilting up and down.
Before use, be sure to store the cables in a safe place to prevent tangled wires or a
person from falling over the cables. When the chair begins its mechanical initialization
cycle to return to its original position, make sure that there are no animal children or
obstacles to prevent accidents.

Ground protection
It is recommended to have carpeting or to add a non-slip mat under the chair to protect the floor
and to install the anti-vibration foam base.
Moving the chair
• First of all, make sure that the chair is in the "sitting" position, with the back at 90°.
• Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
• Using the handles on the back of the chair, tilt the chair backwards until you find your
balance.
• The chair can then be moved on its wheels.

Turning on the RespiCare® Wellness
The RespiCare® Wellness consists of two independent components. The chair itself and a tactile
tablet placed in a holder at the end of the arm that is hinged to the armrest of the RespiCare®
Wellness.
This tablet is the central control of your RespiCare® Wellness. It is powered via a USB cable in the
holder.
Two keys are provided to open the front of the support panel surrounding the tablet. This allows
you to check that the tablet is connected to the USB cable and the audio JACK plug in the holder.
A main switch is located at the bottom of the side panel of the RespiCare® Wellness on the side of
the tablet. Turn on this switch. When turned on, the RespiCare® Wellness will automatically turn on
the tablet.
The RespiCare® Wellness has low standby power consumption but should be switched off during
long periods of inactivity. In this case, the tablet will automatically go into standby mode.
It will reactivate as soon as the RespiCare® Wellness is switched back on.
The tablet may be completely discharged after a long period of time without power from the
RespiCare® Wellness. The display remains black or shows a charging battery.
In this case, the tablet should be switched on with the supplied rigid rod through the small hole at
the top edge of the holder surrounding the tablet or open the holder to gain direct access to the
tablet.
Launching the RespiCare®Wellness application
By default, the application will launch when RespiCare® Wellness is started and the screen will
display the "Product Overview" described later in this chapter.
If this is not the case, the “RespiCare®” application must be started manually.
To do this, click on the application icon on the tablet desktop.

If you do not see the "RespiCare®" program icon, click on the small set of squares at the bottom
right of the screen to display all the applications available on your tablet.

Display screen:
This screen contains several pages of information.
You can move from one page to another using the
side arrows.
After a period of inactivity on the tablet, this screen
returns automatically, unless the administrator
restricts it.
These pages may not be in your language. In this
case, you should change the language.
Language selection screen:
Choose the desired language or click on the cross
at the top left to return to the previous screen.
To operate, the tablet must be connected to the
RespiCare® Wellness via Bluetooth. Therefore, the two
devices must be paired. (This may already be the case at
the factory).
This must be done the first time or if the "RespiCare®"
program is reinstalled on the tablet. The tablet will then
reconnect automatically each time it is switched on.
If the tablet is not connected to the RespiCare® Wellness,
the "Chair not available" screen will appear regularly for
a short period of time.

Connecting the RespiCare®Wellness via Bluetooth
To pair the tablet with RespiCare® Wellness
click on the SCALEO Medical logo at the top of
the "Start Exercising" screen for 2 seconds. The
" Administration " screen will appear.
In the next menus, the button
Is used to validate and go to the previous menu.
Select the tab « bluetooth » on the left of the
screen.
The list of the available bluetooth devices
appear on the right of the screen.
Look for the bluetooth name of your RespiCare®
Wellness, which is its Serial Number (SN)
printed on the label sticked at the bottom of
the back of your RespiCare® Wellness.
Click on the line corresponding to the name on
the sticker.
After a few seconds the tablet will make a
« request of Bluetooth pairing ».
Click on « OK ». « Connected » will appear on
the right of the selected line.

Select your breath exercise
The RespiCare® Wellness comes with several types of exercises. To select your exercise, click on the
button « exercises » at the bottom centre of the screen.
The screen « Exercises » appears.
The exercise « Cardiac Coherence » enables you to relax in a very short time.
Inhalation and exhalation last for 5 seconds. This rhythm enables you to reach a balanced state
called « heart coherence ».
The exercise « Oxygen Therapy» also enables you to relax. Yet thanks to longer inhalation duration,
it increases the oxygen level in the body.
Breathe in 6s- breathe out 4s.
The exercise « Sleep » can help users rest and sleep better.
It enables you to reach a phase of drowsiness or light sleep within a short time. Breathe in 4
seconds- Breathe out 6 seconds.
You can:
• Change the length of your exercise thanks to the thumbwheel at the bottom left of the
screen.
• Select the sleep duration thanks to the thumbwheel at the bottom right of the screen.
To select one of the proposed exercises, click on
the corresponding button.

Then, after the first part of the exercise, the chair will stop for the power nap in the comfortable
zero gravity position. You cannot select a sleep duration for the exercise « Oxygen Therapy ».
For every exercise, we recommend to start with 10 minutes duration.
For the “Sleep” mode, the recommended duration is 20 minutes.

Create your own exercises with « My session »
In the next menus, the button is used to validate and go to the previous menu.
Click on the button « Exercice practitioner»,
then click on the button « Edit » at the top
right of the screen.
The screen « my session » appears.
On this screen you can choose the time of each
breathing phase as well as the moment when
each function will operate during the exercise,
of the heating mode, the swing and the zero
gravity mode.
Once your parameters are chosen, click on the
button « Save» to come back to the
« Exercises » screen.
If you do not want to change the exixting
values, click on the button « Cancel »
Click on the X at the top left to come back to
the previous screen.

Choose the voice and the music
Launching of the breathing exercise
Once all your parameters are chosen, you can start your breathing exercise. Go to the screen
« launching of the exercises ».
Sit on the chair, connect the headset to the tablet, and follow the following instructions.
Click on the button « sounds » on the screen
« launching of the exercises. The screen « sounds »
appears.
The sounds of the RespiCare® Wellness are
composed of a voice which guides you (your
personal coach) and of background music.
Choose the voice and the music you like, then click
on the X on the top left to come back to the
previous screen.
Click on the central triangular button « Play ».
Click on « CANCEL » if one of the instructions is not
satisfied or understood, otherwise click on
