A detailed description of the category of the SCOTT speed pedelec is given
in the chapter “Intended use of your SCOTT speed pedelec”.
SAFETY INSTRUCTION
Note that SCOTT speed pedelecs are not bicycles but two-wheeled mopeds. This
results in far-reaching consequences as to obligations, such as carrying a driving
licence, wearing a helmet and compulsory insurances etc.
These operating instructions are not intended to help you assemble a SCOTT
speed pedelec from individual components, to repair it or to make a partly
assembled SCOTT speed pedelec ready for use.

future reference and hand it over to the respective user, in case you sell, lend or
otherwise pass on your SCOTT speed pedelec.

When performing the adjusting and servicing described in detail, always be
aware that the instructions and information only refer to this SCOTT speed
pedelec.
Keep in mind that your SCOTT speed pedelec is a type-approved speed
pedelec. Its assembly must practically remain unchanged.
The information included here is not applicable to other pedelecs, speed
pedelecs or e-bike types. Due to the variety of designs and model changes
the routines described may require complementary information. It is essen-
tial to also observe the manuals of the component manufacturers on the
SCOTT web page.
Be aware that these instructions may require further explanation, depending
on the experience and/or skills of the person doing the work. For some jobs
you may require additional (special) tools or supplementary instructions.
This manual cannot teach you the skills of a bicycle or motorbike mechanic.
If you have the slightest doubt, ask your SCOTT dealer.
Before you set off, let us point out a few things to you that are very im-
portant to every bicycle and speed pedelec rider: Never ride without an
adequate and approved protection helmet and glasses (e) and take care
to always wear suitable, bright clothing. As a minimum you should wear
straight cut trousers or use trouser clips (f) and shoes fitting the mounted
pedal system. Always ride on public roads and observe the traffic rules so
considerate as not to endanger yourself or others.
This manual cannot teach you riding a speed pedelec. Be aware that riding a
speed pedelec is a potentially dangerous activity, especially on public roads.
You should therefore be able to always stay in control of your SCOTT speed
pedelec. Be aware from the moment you set off that you ride at clearly higher
speed. Always keep this fact in mind and ride anticipatory and considerately!
Like any sport, riding a speed pedelec involves the risk of injury. When you
set off on a SCOTT speed pedelec you should be aware of this risk and
accept it. Always keep in mind that on a SCOTT speed pedelec you have
no safety devices around you like you have in a car (e.g. bodywork, ABS or
airbag). Therefore, always ride carefully and respect the other traffic partici-
pants.
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Dear SCOTT customer,
In purchasing this SCOTT speed pedelec (a-c) you have chosen a product
of high quality. Each component of your new SCOTT speed pedelec was
designed, manufactured and assembled with great care and expertise. Your
SCOTT dealer finished the assembly of the speed pedelec and carried out a
functional check to guarantee proper operation and many enjoyable riding
experiences with complete peace of mind from the very first metres enjoy-
ing the tailwind due to the auxiliary drive.
Note that SCOTT speed pedelecs are not bicycles but two-wheeled mopeds.
This results in far-reaching consequences as to obligations, such as carrying
a driving licence, wearing a helmet and compulsory insurances etc.
This manual contains a wealth of information on the proper operation and
the permitted range of use of your SCOTT speed pedelec as well as a lot of
things worth knowing about speed pedelec technology, its maintenance and
care. Read this manual thoroughly. We are sure that even if you have been
riding bicycle or pedelec all your life you will find it worthwhile. It has been
in particular the speed pedelec technology that has led to a rapid further
development of bicycles in recent years (d). Therefore, before setting off on
your new SCOTT speed pedelec for the first time you should read at least
the chapters “Tests before your first ride”, “Intended use of your SCOTT
speed pedelec” and “Useful facts for riding a SCOTT speed pedelec”.
To ensure fun and safety during cycling, be sure to carry out the functional
check described in the chapter “Tests before every ride” before setting off
on your SCOTT speed pedelec.
Even a manual as big as an encyclopaedia could not describe any possible
combination of speed pedelec models and components or parts on the mar-
ket. Therefore, this manual together with the system instructions of the drive
manufacturer BOSCH and the translation of the detailed original SCOTT
operating instructions trekking and trekking pedelec focus on your newly
purchased SCOTT speed pedelec and standard components and provide
useful information and warnings.

INTENDED USE OF YOUR SCOTT SPEED PEDELEC
Your SCOTT speed pedelec (d-f) was designed by our engineers for a specific
use. Be sure to use your SCOTT speed pedelec only according to its intended
use, as it may otherwise not withstand the stress and could fail and cause an
accident with unforeseeable consequences! Any improper use will invalidate
the warranty.
Your SCOTT speed pedelec is designed to be used according to category 2.1.
Category 2.1 city, trekking and urban bikes
SCOTT city, trekking and urban bikes are designed for riding exclusively on
hard-surface terrain, i.e. on tarred roads and lanes or finely gravelled field
tracks. The tyres must remain in constant contact with the ground.
These bicycles are not suitable for off-road, cyclo-cross or mountain bike use
or jumps and competitive use of any kind whatsoever.
SAFETY INSTRUCTION
Your SCOTT speed pedelec belongs to this category. You find more information in
the detailed translation of the original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and
trekking pedelec on the SCOTT web page.
Your SCOTT speed pedelec is designed for a maximum permissible total
weight of 130kg including rider, luggage and SCOTT speed pedelec. The
maximum permissible total weight must not be exceeded.
SCOTT speed pedelecs are visually bicycles, but in legal terms two-wheeled
mopeds; their auxiliary motor provides assistance up to max. 45kmh/28
mph as long as you continue pedalling. Without pedalling your SCOTT speed
pedelec provides assistance to a maximum speed of 20 kmh /12.4 mph.
The starting or push assistance provides assistance when you push your
SCOTT speed pedelec or when doing a hill start, even without pedalling, up to
a speed of 20 kmh /12.4 mph.
Never ride under the influence of drugs, medication, alcohol or when you are
tired. Always keep both hands on the handlebar.
Observe the legal regulations concerning cycling with speed pedelecs off
the roads. These regulations differ in each country. Respect nature when rid-
ing through the forest and in the open countryside. Ride your speed pedelec
exclusively on hard-surface lanes and roads signposted for speed pedelecs
(a).
Always bear in mind that you travel rapidly and quietly. Do not startle pe-
destrians or other cyclists. If necessary, make yourself heard in time and by
applying the horn (b) or the brakes to avoid accidents. Familiarize yourself
with your SCOTT speed pedelec.
First, we would like to familiarize you with the various components of your
SCOTT speed pedelec. Unfold the cover of the translation of these origi-
nal operating instructions. There you will find two exemplary SCOTT speed
pedelecs showing all the essential components (c).
WARNING
For your own safety, never do any care and maintenance work or adjusting on
your speed pedelec unless you feel absolutely sure about it. If you are in doubt or
if you have any questions, contact your SCOTT dealer.
WARNING
Do not hitch yourself to a car on your SCOTT speed pedelec. Do not ride free-
hand. Only take your feet off the pedals if required by the condition of the road.
Also observe that your are only allowed to ride with headphones as long as the
acoustic perception is not affected.

USEFUL FACTS FOR RIDING A SCOTT SPEED PEDELEC
Basically, a SCOTT speed pedelec (a) is a pedelec, only a significantly faster
one – up to 45km/h/28 mph. Practise the handling of the powerful and fast
SCOTT speed pedelec and always ride with foresight.
You find more information in the chapter “Riding a SCOTT speed pedelec”.
SAFETY INSTRUCTION
The SCOTT speed pedelec (vehicle class L1e-B) is classified as motor vehicle. This
entails a number of regulations according to which your SCOTT speed pedelec
must be equipped (b+c). These regulations are listed in the “Overview speed
pedelecs – legal regulations".
WARNING
Your SCOTT speed pedelec is not approved for mounting child seats, child trailers
and transport trailers.
WARNING
Be aware that the brakes of your SCOTT speed pedelec are always more effective
than the drive. If you face any problems with your drive (e.g. because it pushes
you forward in front of a bend), slow down your SCOTT speed pedelec carefully.
WARNING
Pulling the brake lever (d) of the rear brake stops the motor. Emergency stop!
WARNING
For your own safety, always ride your SCOTT speed pedelec with the light
switched on, as required, wear bright clothing as well as a suitable helmet acc. to
ECE 2205 or acc. to the standard NTA 8776 and glasses.
WARNING
If a component needs to be replaced, make it a rule to only use original spare
parts. Wearing parts from other manufacturers are not permitted. In the case of
SCOTT speed pedelecs be sure to only mount original spare parts (e+f), other-
wise the vehicle type approval and the insurance cover will expire. You find more
information in the chapter “Service and maintenance” as well as in the “Guide-
lines for the parts replacement of speed e-bikes/pedelecs” in the present original
SCOTT operating instructions, see pp. 54+55.

2. The rechargeable battery of your SCOTT speed pedelec must be charged
before you set off for the first time. Are you familiar with the handling
and mounting of the rechargeable battery? Before you set off for the first
time, check whether the battery is properly mounted, that it has engaged
audibly and that it is locked (e). You find more information about mount-
ing and removing your battery in the chapter “Mounting and removing the
battery of the SCOTT speed pedelec”.
You find more information in the respective chapter of the system instruc-
tions of the drive manufacturer BOSCH on the SCOTT web page. Ask your
SCOTT dealer to show you how to mount and remove the battery.
WARNING
We recommend that you charge your battery during the day and only in dry
rooms which have a smoke or a fire detector; but keep it off your bedroom. Place
the battery on a big, non-inflammable plate made of ceramics or glass during the
charging process!
WARNING
Charge your battery with the supplied charger only (f). Do not use the charger
of any other manufacturer, not even when the connector of the charger matches
your rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery can heat up, catch fire or
even explode!
WARNING
Do not park your SCOTT speed pedelec in the blazing sun.
WARNING
Load the battery at normal room temperatures from 15 to max. 25 degrees Celsius.
TESTS BEFORE YOUR FIRST RIDE
1. Have you ever ridden a speed pedelec (a)? Observe the particular riding
characteristics of this revolutionary hybrid drive concept (b). Set off for
your first ride by selecting the lowest level of drive assistance (c)! Slowly
approach the potential of your SCOTT speed pedelec in an area free of
traffic.
You find more information on this in the chapter “Intended use of your
SCOTT speed pedelec”, “Riding a SCOTT speed pedelec” and “Useful
facts for riding a SCOTT speed pedelec”.
WARNING
Do not hang any bags or other heavy or big objects (such as umbrellas) on the
handlebar of your SCOTT speed pedelec. Risk of falling!
CAUTION
The weight distribution on SCOTT speed pedelecs differs significantly from the
weight distribution on bicycles without drive. A SCOTT speed pedelec is signif-
icantly heavier than a bicycle without drive. For this reason parking, pushing,
lifting and carrying the SCOTT speed pedelec is more difficult. Bear this in mind
when loading your speed pedelec into a car and unloading it or when mounting it
on a bicycle carrier system (d).
WARNING
Be sure to keep in mind that your SCOTT speed pedelec is designed for use
according to category 2.1. The category specifies the grounds on which you are
allowed to ride on and the riding actions your SCOTT speed pedelec is designed
for. You find more information about the use in the chapter “Intended use of your
SCOTT speed pedelec”.
WARNING
Do not wear long skirts, flared trousers or ponchos and do not hang long strings,
bands or the like to your SCOTT speed pedelec during the ride. There is the risk of
them getting caught in the wheels or in the drive. Risk of falling!

6. Are saddle and handlebars properly adjusted? The saddle should be set
to a height from which you can just reach the pedal in its lowest position
with your heel (d). Check whether your toes reach to the floor when you
are sitting on the saddle.
Your SCOTT dealer will be pleased to help you if you are not happy with
your seating position. You find more information in the chapter “Adjust-
ing the SCOTT bike to the rider” in the translation of the detailed origi-
nal SCOTT operating instructions trekking and trekking pedelec on the
SCOTT web page.
7. If you equip your SCOTT speed pedelec with click-in or step-in pedals
(e) make sure they have the prescribed pedal reflectors including cor-
rect number of approval. Non-compliance will invalidate the vehicle type
approval. Have you ever tried cycling with the respective cycling shoes?
First practise locking one shoe onto a pedal and disengaging it while
standing on the other leg. Ask your SCOTT dealer to explain the ped-
als to you. You find more information in the chapter “Pedals and shoes”
in the translation of the detailed original SCOTT operating instructions
trekking and trekking pedelec and in the manuals of the component man-
ufacturers on the SCOTT web page.
WARNING
If you equip your SCOTT speed pedelec with click-in or step-in pedals (e) make
sure they have the prescribed pedal reflectors including correct number of ap-
proval. Non-compliance will invalidate the vehicle type approval.
8.
If you purchased a SCOTT speed pedelec with suspension (f),
you should
ask your SCOTT dealer to adjust the suspension settings to your needs. Im-
properly adjusted suspension forks are liable to malfunction or damage to
the suspension components. In any case they will impair the performance
of your speed pedelec as well as your safety and joy during the ride.
You find more information in the chapter “Front suspension” in the trans-
lation of the detailed original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and
trekking pedelec and in the manuals of the component manufacturers on
the SCOTT web page.
3. The functions of your SCOTT speed pedelec are operated with the but-
tons of the control element on the handlebar (a). Are you familiar with
all functions and displays? Check whether you know the functions of all
buttons. You find more information on pages 6+7 in the present transla-
tion of the original SCOTT operating instructions and in the respective
chapters of the system instructions of the drive manufacturer BOSCH on
the SCOTT web page.
4. Are you familiar with the brake system? Check whether you can activate
the front wheel brake with the same brake lever you are used to. The right
brake lever of your SCOTT speed pedelec activates the front wheel brake
and the left brake lever activates the rear wheel brake. This is a legal re-
quirement for mopeds like your SCOTT speed pedelec.
Your new SCOTT speed pedelec (b) is equipped with modern brakes
which may be far more powerful than those you were used to so far. Be
sure to first practise using the brakes on a level, non-slip surface off public
roads!
Slowly approach higher brake performances and speeds. You find more
information in the chapter “Brakes” in the translation of the detailed origi-
nal SCOTT operating instructions trekking and trekking pedelec and in the
manuals of the component manufacturers on the SCOTT web page.
WARNING
Be aware that the brakes of your SCOTT speed pedelec are always more effective
than the drive. If you face any problems with your drive (e.g. because it pushes
you forward in front of a bend), slow down your SCOTT speed pedelec carefully.
WARNING
Pulling the brake lever (c) of the rear brake stops the motor. Emergency stop!
5.
Are you familiar with the type and functioning of the gears? Ask your
SCOTT dealer to explain the gear system to you and make yourself fa-
miliar with your new gears in an area free of traffic, if necessary. You find
more information in the chapter “Gears” in the translation of the detailed
original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and trekking pedelec and
in the
manuals of the component manufacturers
on the SCOTT web page.

TESTS BEFORE EVERY RIDE
Your SCOTT speed pedelec has undergone numerous tests during produc-
tion and a final check has been carried out by your SCOTT dealer.
Nevertheless, be sure to check the following points before every ride to
exclude any malfunctioning that may be due to the transport of your SCOTT
speed pedelec or to modifications a third person may have performed on
your speed pedelec during a standing time:
1. Are the quick-release levers (d), thru axles or the bolts of the front and
rear wheel, the seat post and other components properly closed?
You find more information in the chapters “Using quick-releases” and
“Thru axles on the SCOTT bike” in the translation of the detailed original
SCOTT operating instructions trekking and trekking pedelec and in the
manuals of the component manufacturers on the SCOTT web page.
2. Is the rechargeable battery tight in its holder (e) and properly locked up?
Never set off with a loose and unlocked battery. You find more informa-
tion in the chapter “Mounting and removing the battery of the SCOTT
speed pedelec” and in the respective sections of the system instructions
of the drive manufacturer BOSCH on the SCOTT web page.
3. Do the displays on the control element on the handlebar show all values
(f), see also p. 6+7 in the present translation of the original SCOTT oper-
ating instructions. Is there any error message or warning on the display?
Check the values are correct before every ride. Do not set off on your
SCOTT speed pedelec if the display shows a warning. You find more in-
formation in the respective chapter of the system instructions of the drive
manufacturer BOSCH on the SCOTT web page.
4. Are the connections of the rechargeable battery, the control element on
the handlebar and the drive properly connected? You find more infor-
mation in the respective chapter of the system instructions of the drive
manufacturer BOSCH on the SCOTT web page.
WARNING
When mounting your SCOTT speed pedelec, make sure not to step in the pedals
until you sit in the saddle and grip the handlebar tightly and that one pedal is
at the lowest position when you get on. The motor assistance might switch on
suddenly and result in an uncontrolled start of your SCOTT speed pedelec. Risk of
falling!
CAUTION
Make particularly sure there is enough space between your crotch
(a) and the top
tube so that you do not hurt yourself, if you have to get off quickly.
WARNING
Note that both braking effect and tyre grip can be reduced drastically in wet con-
ditions. Look well ahead when riding on wet roads and on loose ground and ride
anticipatorily and clearly slower than you would in dry conditions.
WARNING
A lack of practice when using click-in pedals or too much spring tension in the
mechanism can lead to a very firm connection, from which you cannot quickly
step out! Risk of falling!
NOTICE
SCOTT speed pedelecs are equipped with a kickstand (b). Nevertheless, when
parking your SCOTT speed pedelec, make sure it stands safe and secure and is
not at risk of toppling over or being knocked over. If your SCOTT speed pedelec
topples over it might get damaged.
WARNING
Your SCOTT speed pedelec is not approved for mounting child seats (c), child
trailers and transport trailers.
SAFETY INSTRUCTION
Check with your insurer that the speed pedelec as well as the storekeeping and
the charging of lithium-ion batteries are covered by your household and fire
insurance. Read the daily press to keep yourself informed about current legislative
changes.

You find more information in the chapter “Brakes” in the translation of
the detailed original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and trekking
pedelec and in the manuals of the component manufacturers on the
SCOTT web page.
9. Let your SCOTT speed pedelec bounce on the ground from a small
height (d). If there is any rattling, check where it comes from. Check the
bearings, the bolts and the proper seat of the battery, if necessary.
10.
Check the lighting. You will not be seen or you will be seen too late by
other road users. For riding on public roads you always need a functioning
lighting system which is permanently switched on (e).
11. If you have a SCOTT speed pedelec with suspension, check it as follows:
Press down on your SCOTT speed pedelec and see whether the spring
elements retract and extend as usual.
You find more information in the chapter “Front suspension” in the trans-
lation of the detailed original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and
trekking pedelec and in the manuals of the component manufacturers on
the SCOTT web page.
12. Make sure the kickstand is fully raised before you set off. Risk of falling!
13. Do not forget to take a high quality folding (f), D- or chain lock with
you on your ride. The only way to effectively protect your SCOTT speed
pedelec against theft is to lock it to an immovable object.
WARNING
Do not use your SCOTT speed pedelec, if it fails one of these points! A defective
SCOTT speed pedelec can lead to serious accidents! If you are in doubt or if you
have any questions, contact your SCOTT dealer.
5. Is your battery fully charged? Remember to fully recharge the battery
after each longer ride (e.g. less than 50% state of charge). Modern lith-
ium-ion batteries do not have a memory effect. It will do no harm if you
park your SCOTT speed pedelec with a state of charge of less than 50%
temporarily (e.g. overnight). However, you should not wait until the battery
is fully discharged! You find more information in the respective chapter of
the system instructions of the drive manufacturer BOSCH on the SCOTT
web page.
6. Are the tyres in good condition and do they have sufficient pressure
(a)?
Note that a SCOTT speed pedelec weighs more than a conventional bicy-
cle and that your usual tyre pressure may be insufficient. A higher pressure
gives a better riding stability and reduces the risk of a puncture. The mini-
mum and maximum pressure (in bar or psi) is indicated on the sidewall of
each tyre.
You find more information in the chapter “Wheels and tyres” in the trans-
lation of the detailed original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and
trekking pedelec and in the manuals of the component manufacturers on
the SCOTT web page.
7. Spin the wheels to check whether the rims are true (b). In doing so watch
the gap between frame and rim or tyre. Untrue rims can be an indication
of tyres with ruptured sides, broken axles or spokes.
You find more information in the chapter “Wheels and tyres” in the trans-
lation of the detailed original SCOTT operating instructions trekking and
trekking pedelec and in the manuals of the component manufacturers on
the SCOTT web page.
8. Test the brakes by firmly pulling the brake levers towards the handlebar as
the speed pedelec is standing (c). You should not be able to pull the lever
all the way to the handlebar. Check the hydraulic brake cables for oil or
brake fluid leaks! Also check the thickness of the brake pads.
With the mounted disc brakes you should have a stable pressure point at
once. If you have to actuate the brake lever more than once to get a pos-
itive braking response, have the SCOTT speed pedelec checked by your
SCOTT dealer.

RIDING A SCOTT SPEED PEDELEC
Your SCOTT speed pedelec (c) can be used like a conventional bicycle. The
unique riding experience, however, starts when you actuate the drive system
(d). At that moment the assistance generated by the strong motor with its
high torque increases the stronger you pedal. Set off for your first ride by
selecting the lowest level of drive assistance (e). Gradually get used to the
additional propulsion. Slowly approach the potential of your SCOTT speed
pedelec in an area free of traffic.
WARNING
Practise typical riding situations, such as starting and braking as well as tight cor-
nering. This is where a SCOTT speed pedelec clearly differs from a conventional
bicycle without motor.
WARNING
Be aware that the brakes (f) of your SCOTT speed pedelec are always more
effective than the drive. If you face any problems with your drive (e.g. because it
pushes you forward in front of a bend), slow down your SCOTT speed pedelec
carefully.
WARNING
Pulling the brake lever of the rear brake stops the motor. Emergency stop!
RIDING WITH DRIVE ASSISTANCE
The system is switched on and off via the buttons of the control element on
the battery or on the handlebars. Furthermore, different assistance modes
can be selected, the remaining capacity of the rechargeable battery is
displayed and different functions of the cycle computer can be selected, if
necessary, also see p. 6+7.
When switched on via the on-board computer the system is only activat-
ed when you start pedalling making the drive assistance available. Sensors
measure your pedalling movements and control the fully-automated drive
assistance according to the selected assistance mode. The level of the
additional propulsion depends on the assistance mode, your speed and the
amount of force applied to the pedals.
WARNING
Improperly closed fastenings (a) can cause components of the SCOTT speed
pedelec to come loose and result in severe accidents!
CAUTION
Remove the rechargeable battery or the display before doing any work on your
SCOTT speed pedelec (e.g. care and maintenance as well as work on your drive
etc.). Activating the drive systems unintentionally bears the risk of injury!
WARNING
The drive is free of vibrations. During use your SCOTT speed pedelec is severe-
ly affected by the influences of the ground and the forces introduced into the
SCOTT speed pedelec by you. These dynamic loads result in wear and fatigue of
the different parts of your speed pedelec. Check your SCOTT speed pedelec reg-
ularly for wear marks, scratches, deformations, colour changes and any indication
of cracking (b), i.e. according to the “SCOTT service and maintenance schedule”
in the present translation of the original SCOTT operating instructions. Compo-
nents which have reached the end of their service life may break without previous
warning. Let your SCOTT dealer maintain and service your SCOTT speed pedelec
regularly; they can replace the parts in question, if necessary.

WARNING
Keep in mind that due to the higher drive power (d) at the rear wheel the risk of
falling increases with slippery road conditions (wetness, snow, gravel etc.). This
applies all the more when cornering. Risk of falling!
WARNING
Keep in mind that car drivers and other road users may underestimate your
speed. Be sure to always ride with the light switched on, as prescribed, and al-
ways wear bright clothing. Always ride on public roads with this fact in mind and
anticipate the misconduct of other road users. Risk of accident!
WARNING
Keep in mind that pedestrians do not hear you when you approach at high speed.
Therefore, ride particularly defensively and anticipating to avoid accidents. If nec-
essary, sound the horn (e) in time to warn others.
RANGE – USEFUL INFORMATION FOR A LONG RIDE
How long and how far you can benefit from the auxiliary drive depends
on several factors, i.e. the road conditions, the weight of the rider and any
additional load, the rider’s pedal force, the mode of assistance level, (head)
winds, frequent stops, temperature, weather conditions, topography, tyre
pressure etc.
The charge state of your rechargeable battery can be read from the display
of the control element (f) on the handlebar or also on the rechargeable bat-
tery itself.
To extend the range it is recommended that you ride with low or no assis-
tance at all on level or downhill trails and only select maximum drive assis-
tance with headwind, heavy additional loads and/or when climbing hills.
The assistance switches off when you reach a speed of more than
45kmh/28 mph. Without pedalling the system provides assistance up to a
speed of 20 kmh/12.4 mph.
Keep in mind that you may have to change your riding habits:
Do not mount by placing one foot on the pedal and trying to throw the
other leg over the saddle. The SCOTT speed pedelec would set off suddenly.
Risk of falling!
Stop pedalling earlier than you are used to before riding a turn or bend. Oth-
erwise, there may be too much propulsion and your cornering speed may be
too high.
Do not let the strong motor tempt you to always ride in a high gear. Shift
gears frequently (a) as you are possibly used to from a conventional bike or
a pedelec25 to make your own share in your forward movement as efficient-
ly as possible. Your cadence should always be in a smooth flow. In other
words, you should pedal at more than 60 crank rotations per minute. Shift
already down before stopping.
Keep in mind that the other road users are not yet used to speed pedelecs
and their higher speeds. Ride with this fact in mind and anticipate possible
misconduct of other road users. Be aware that the speed you ride at will
be clearly faster than you are used to. Therefore, keep these facts in mind
and be ready to brake whenever an unclear or possibly dangerous situation
comes into your field of vision.
WARNING
Do a test ride in an unfrequented area to make yourself familiar with the riding
characteristics of your SCOTT speed pedelec and the possibly higher speed and
acceleration before riding on public roads. Risk of accident! Never ride without a
suitable (b) protective helmet!
WARNING
Do not step on the pedals before sitting in the saddle, select the lowest drive
assistance (c) and be always ready to brake when you set off. Risk of falling!

SAFETY INSTRUCTION
T
ips on how to exploit the battery’s capacity to the maximum are given in chapter
“Information for proper handling of the rechargeable battery” in the present trans-
lation of the original SCOTT operating instructions.
WARNING
If your battery runs empty during the ride, do not recharge the battery with any
charger, even if it is fitted with an identical connector type. Risk of explosion!
Make it a habit to charge your battery only with the supplied charger.
RIDING WITHOUT DRIVE ASSISTANCE
You can also use your SCOTT speed pedelec without drive assistance, i.e. like
a conventional bicycle.
Observe the following points when riding with the drive switched off or with
a discharged rechargeable battery:
Switch on the control element of your SCOTT speed pedelec at the handle-
bar, even when riding without drive assistance, to make use of your cycle
computer and activate the lighting system.
The lighting system (d) of the SCOTT speed pedelec is battery-powered. For
this reason the lighting works even with a discharged battery. It is, however,
recommended that you recharge the battery immediately after you have
returned.
After you have removed the battery of your SCOTT speed pedelec from the
down tube (e): Keep the connections of the rechargeable battery (f) free
of dirt and moisture. With the battery removed the display and in particular
the lighting system will, however, no longer work. In this case, do not use the
speed pedelec on public roads.
Furthermore, you can affect the range by
– checking the tyre pressure regularly, i.e. once a week with a pressure
gauge (a), and by adjusting it, if necessary
– shifting gears down in front of traffic lights and intersections or in gener-
al in cases of stops and by setting off in low gears
– shifting regularly (b), as you may be used to it from a bicycle without
drive or a pedelec25, i.e. by not only riding in high gears
– riding with these facts in mind and always looking ahead to avoid any
unnecessary stops
– reducing your additional load, i.e. riding without unnecessary luggage
– storing your battery in your home and installing it only shortly before you
set off on your SCOTT speed pedelec in cooler or cold weather
– not parking your SCOTT speed pedelec in the blazing sun
If, nevertheless, your battery has not enough capacity to reach your destina-
tion, you benefit from the decisive advantage of the hybrid concept of your
SCOTT speed pedelec: Without drive assistance you can ride your speed
pedelec like a conventional bicycle with an unlimited range and nearly with-
out compromising riding characteristics.
You find more information in the respective chapter of the system instruc-
tions of the drive manufacturer BOSCH on the SCOTT web page.
NOTICE
In general, the batteries (c) of SCOTT speed pedelecs have no memory effect.
It is recommended that you charge the battery after every long ride. Avoid any
deep discharge of the rechargeable battery, i.e. do not leave your SCOTT speed
pedelec unused with an empty battery for a longer period of time.
NOTICE
Fully discharge your rechargeable battery every three months and recharge it im-
mediately. This calibrates the capacity/range indicator and restores its accuracy.
NOTICE
Keep in mind that the battery of your SCOTT speed pedelec shows signs of wear
over the years. This results in a continuous reduction of the battery’s capacity and
in a reduced range compared to its state as new. After a certain period of time the
battery even needs to be replaced.
