SeaStation –GPS Anchoring System
The SeaStation GPS anchoring system is an option that can be added to any vessel that
currently has an Optimus 360 joystick control installed.
The SeaStation option gives you the ability to hold vessel position and heading via a
standalone GPS antenna.
SeaStar Solutions has applied the same smart algorithms to SeaStation as you have
experienced with Optimus 360 joystick control to reduce unnecessary shifting and
movement of the engines while providing superior position and heading functions for a
large selection of engine platforms.

SeaStation –Operator Acknowledgement
Every time the operator selects SeaStation by pressing the A or C buttons, or after the
joystick returns to neutral in “shadow mode”, the system enters the acknowledgment
process and the following message is displayed on the CANtrak. The operator must press
the “Engage” button on the CANtrak to accept responsibility that no one is in the water.
This will also be the position and/or heading that SeaStation will maintain. The decals
shown below MUST be installed at the exit locations of the vessel.
Shadow Mode
If the user moves the joystick while one of the three operating modes is engaged,
SeaStation is temporarily disabled and the user has full joystick control. When the joystick
returns to neutral, the acknowledgment prompt is displayed on the CANtrak and the
operator has 30 seconds to re-engage SeaStation before the prompt disappears.

SeaStation –Heading Adjustment
When HEADING MODE is active, the target heading can be adjusted without disengaging
SeaStation. Simply press the HEADING button on the display run screen and follow the
screen information.
Heading adjustment can be used to reduce engine activity when the system is in
POSITION and HEADING modes. Typically aligning the stern of the vessel with the wind
reduces engine RPM.
For large target heading changes (e.g. greater than 450) it is recommended that you
manually adjust the heading using the joystick then re-engage SeaStation.

Drift Warnings
If the vessel drifts too far from its target position or heading, the display will alarm:
The Cause of Drift Warnings is usually:
1) The boat is not positioned well relative to current conditions. Try aligning vessel to be more parallel
with wind and current.
2) Conditions are simply too strong for SeaStation. You may need to move to a more sheltered area.
In many cases, drift warnings can be prevented by using POSITION MODE on its own. It is more
difficult for SeaStation to hold position and heading at the same time. If heading is truly not required,
disengage this mode.
GPS-Compass Faults
1. Communication Fault –Seek Technical Support
2. Signal Fault –GPS-Compass has no signal or a poor quality signal. Make sure antenna is
mounted per SeaStar specifications, move to an area with better sky visibility, or give the system
more time to acquire satellites.

In order for SeaStation to operate you must have an EPSK1600 kit mounted on the vessel and
the component software of the Optimus 360 system must be at the following levels:

The GPS antenna for SeaStation connects directly to the private network of the Optimus
360 System via a CAN2 harness that is provided in the EPSK1600 kit along with additional
tees and terminators. Below are sample installations where the antenna is positioned 20’
from the 6-way hub on the private network and greater than 20’. Plan accordingly.
