MC5-MS
Dual-Channel Stereo Condenser Microphone

2
Thank you for choosing Senal.
The Senal MC5-MS is a professional dual-channel stereo microphone that delivers broadcast-quality
sound in the studio or on location. This microphone is designed and engineered to improve and
enhance the audio of professional camcorders or other recording devices that have two-channel
XLR mic inputs and 48 V phantom power.
The MC5-MS features two unidirectional condenser capsules set in an XY pattern to capture a wide
stereo field of detailed and accurate sound. The microphone features two high-quality Neutrik®
XLR connectors for flawless signal transfer. Superb audio quality is enhanced by metal construction
that eliminates unwanted noise from vibrations, resonance, and RF interference. The MC5-MS is an
ideal microphone to capture dialog or ambient soundscapes but offers stereo and mono operation
for versatility in diverse production and broadcast recording scenarios. The microphone’s compact
length ensures that it won’t extend into the picture frame when you mount it on a camera.

Powering the Microphone
The MC5-MS microphone requires 48 V phantom power to operate. Phantom power is supplied by
most professional video cameras, mixing consoles, or recording devices.
Connect the XLR outputs to your device, and activate phantom power for both channels on your
source.
Mounting the Microphone
Attach the MC5-MS to a camcorder via the camcorder’s microphone mount or a shock mount (not
included). For mic-stand mounting, use a shock mount or standard microphone clip.
Important!
Make sure the microphone is in the correct orientation when it’s mounted. The word UP on the ring
at the base of the microphone should point up. Also make sure the microphone’s grille and ports
are not obstructed.

Recording Stereo / Mono
Recording with the MC5-MS
Two-channel stereo
1. Attach the XLR connectors to your camcorder, mixer, or recording device.
• Red—right channel
• White—left channel
2. Activate 48 V phantom power for both channels on your camcorder or device.
Mono
In mono mode, the microphone will only record sound to one channel.
Mono recording is convenient for using the MC5-MS to record background sound to one channel,
while the on-camera talent is using a hand-held or lavalier mic to record to the other channel.
For mono recording, turn off only the right channel’s phantom power. Continue to send phantom
power to the left channel.

Problem Solution
No sound is being
recorded.
Activate phantom power on your camcorder, mixer, or recording device.
Make sure the camcorder or mixer is turned on.
Your preamp gain may be turned all the way down. Gradually turn it up
until reaching a satisfactory input level.
Make sure the microphone is properly connected and that the
connections are secure.
The sound is
distorted.
Move the microphone away from the sound source.
The preamp gain may be too high. Gradually turn it down until reaching
a satisfactory input level.
Can’t record in
mono mode.
Make sure the phantom power for the right channel is turned off, and
the left channel is on.
If the problem persists, turn off phantom power to the right channel,
and disconnect the right channel XLR.
