Vacuum bag sealer
Dear Customer,
Before using the appliance, read the
following instructions carefully and keep
this manual for future reference. The
appliance must only be used by persons
familiar with these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
Make sure that the supply voltage
corresponds with the voltage marked
on the rating label of the appliance. This
product complies with all binding CE
labelling directives.

Important safety instructions
∙In order to avoid hazards,
repairs to this electrical
appliance or its power
cord must be carried out
by our customer service.
If repairs are needed,
please send the appliance
to our customer service
department (see appendix).
∙Before cleaning the
appliance, ensure it is
disconnected from the
power supply and has
cooled down completely.
∙To avoid the risk of electric
shock, do not clean the
appliance with liquids or
immerse it.
∙This appliance may be
used by children (at least
8 years of age) and by
persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lacking
experience and knowledge,

provided they have been
given supervision or
instruction concerning the
use of the appliance and
fully understand all dangers
and safety precautions
involved.
∙Children must not be
permitted to play with the
appliance.
∙Children must not be
permitted to carry out any
cleaning or maintenance
work on the appliance
unless they are supervised.
∙The appliance and its
power cord must be kept
well away from children
under 8 at all times.
∙Caution: Keep any packaging materials
well away from children – such materials
are a potential source of danger, e.g. of
suffocation.
∙Every time the appliance is used, the
main body including the power cord as
well as any attachment tted should
be checked thoroughly for any defects.
Should the appliance, for instance, have
been dropped onto a hard surface, or if
excessive force has been used to pull
the power cord, it must no longer be
used: even invisible damage may have
adverse effects on the operational safety
of the appliance.
∙Warning: Do not touch the sealing bar
or silicone gasket. There is a danger of
burns.
∙Do not attempt to remove liquid of any
kind by means of the suction function.
Should this occur, press the
button immediately.
∙Always remove the plug from the wall
socket
-in case of any malfunction,
-after use, and also
-before cleaning the appliance.
∙When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord;
always grip the plug itself.
∙Do not allow the housing or the power
cord to touch hot surfaces such as
hotplates, or come into contact with any
open heat sources.
∙No responsibility is accepted if damage
results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
∙This appliance is intended for domestic
or similar applications, such as
- in shops, ofces and other similar
working environments,
- in agricultural working environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc.
and similar establishments,
- in bed-and breakfast type
environments.

Intermittent operation
The appliance is designed for intermittent
operation only, ie it must be allowed to cool
down for around 30 seconds after each
cycle, before it can be used again. Also,
to prevent overheating, it must be allowed
to cool down for two minutes after a total
operating time of 10 minutes.
Use with bags
Preparing the bags
∙Put the prepared food into a bag,
ensuring that the bag opening remains
absolutely clean and dry.
Hint: For easy, clean lling of the
bags, turn down the rim around the
opening a few cm. After lling, unroll
the rim again.
∙Fill the bags only up to max. 5 cm below
the opening.
∙If necessary, the food may be dabbed
with a kitchen towel rst to remove any
residual liquid from the outside.
Preparing for sealing
∙Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
∙Push down on both front corners of the
cover to release it.
∙Lift up the cover.
Air extraction and sealing:
∙ Place the lled bag with its open end
connecting with the attachment points
inside the vacuum chamber. Ensure that
the suction opening is not blocked by
the bag. The bag opening must be clean
and free of any wrinkles or creases
where it touches the sealing bar.
∙Fold the cover down.
∙Push the outer corners of the cover
rmly down until it is heard locking into
place on both sides.
∙Press the button.
∙The vacuum created by the pump
ensures that the cover is rmly closed
and proper pressure is achieved.
∙The LED lights up.
∙Ensure that the vacuum pump does not
suck in any liquid. But if it does, press
the button immediately.
∙Once all the air is extracted, the bag
opening is automatically sealed. The
LED comes on.
Sealing only:
∙ Place the lled bag with its open end
onto the sealing bar (not the attachment
points). The bag opening must be clean
and free of any wrinkles or creases.
∙Fold the cover down.
∙Push the outer corners of the cover
rmly down until it is heard locking into
place on both sides.
∙Press the button.
∙The vacuum created by the pump
ensures that the cover is rmly closed
and proper pressure is achieved.
∙Once the pressure is right, the bag
opening is automatically sealed. The
LED comes on.
∙Once each current process is complete,
the indicator lights goes out.

Opening the cover
∙First press the button to
ventilate the unit. Then push down on
both front corners of the cover to release
it.
∙Lift up the cover and remove the bag.
Hint: Should any residual liquid be found
inside the sealed seam, wipe the seam
dry and let it go through another sealing
cycle. Caution: The bag opening must
be absolutely dry, to guarantee a seal
that is safe and airtight.
∙To interrupt the process, press the
button.
∙Disconnect the appliance from the
mains.
Using with a vacuum container
(Vacuum container not included)
Hint: Suitable vacuum containers
can be ordered conveniently on the
internet from our homepage http://www.
severin.de under the section „Service /
Ersatzteil-Shop“.
Preparing the container
∙Place the prepared food in a vacuum
container.
∙Replace the lid on the container.
∙Caution: The rim of the container
(seals, gaskets etc.) must be absolutely
clean, dry and free of fat or oil!
Preparing the air-extraction process
∙Connect the appliance to the mains.
∙Push down on both front corners of the
cover to release it.
∙Lift up the cover.
∙Slide the larger opening of the
connecting hose rmly onto the suction
outlet.
∙Fit the other end of the hose to the valve
on the vacuum container.
Air extraction:
∙Press the button.
∙The LED is lit while the air is
being extracted from the container.
∙Once the process is complete, the LED
goes out and the hose can be removed.
∙To interrupt the process, press the
button.
∙Disconnect the appliance from the
mains.
Opening the container
∙To open the vacuum container, push
down on the valve using a suitable
implement. Once air is admitted, the lid
can be taken off.

Cleaning and care
∙Before cleaning the appliance, always
remove the plug from the wall outlet.
∙To avoid the risk of electric shock, do
not clean the appliance with liquids or
immerse it.
∙The exterior of the housing may be
cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth.
∙To clean the vacuum chamber, sealing
bar or silicone gasket of any persistent
residues, allow the appliance to cool
down rst and then carefully remove the
residues with a damp cloth.
∙The vacuum container should be
cleaned after each use with warm soapy
water; dry thoroughly afterwards. Do
not use a dishwasher.
Replacement bags and foil rolls
Any regular vacuum foil bags or rolls with
a knobbed surface structure may be used
with this appliance. This type of surface
allows optimum air extraction. The width of
the bag/roll must not exceed 30 cm.
Suitable replacement bags/rolls are
available at household stores or may
be obtained through SEVERIN Service,
quoting article no. ZU 3607 (bags 20 x 30
cm) and ZU 3612 (bags 30 x 40 cm) and
ZU 3603 (lm roll).
Disposal
Devices marked with this symbol
must be disposed of separately
from your household waste, as
they contain valuable materials
which can be recycled. Proper disposal
protects the environment and human
health. Your local authority or retailer can
provide information on the matter.
Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against defects
in materials and workmanship for a period
of two years from the date of purchase.
Under this guarantee the manufacturer
undertakes to repair or replace any parts
found to be defective, providing the product
is returned to one of our authorised service
centres. This guarantee is only valid if the
appliance has been used in accordance
with the instructions, and provided that
it has not been modied, repaired or
interfered with by any unauthorised person,
or damaged through misuse.
This guarantee naturally does not cover
wear and tear, nor breakables such as
glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This
guarantee does not affect your statutory
rights, nor any legal rights you may have
as a consumer under applicable national
legislation governing the purchase of
goods. If the product fails to operate and
needs to be returned, pack it carefully,
enclosing your name and address and the
reason for return. If within the guarantee
period, please also provide the guarantee
card and proof of purchase.
