Faceplate optiset E basic
These operating instructions describe
all functions and operating proce-
dures.
Those operations you can use is de-
pend on the individual class of service
of your telephone and on the configu-
ration of your system.
When cleaning your telephone, do
not use abrasive cleaning agents or
chemicals that attack plastic.
Your service technician can customize
the default assignment to meet your
preferences and requirements follow-
ing order placement.

Hicom 150 E Office and optiset E
You can use your telephone to access the functions of the
Hicom®150 E Office communication system (Release 2.0 and 2.2) via func-
tion keys and codes.
Symbols
Symbol Meaning
Lift the handset (off-hook).
Speak.
Replace the handset (on-hook).
Dial the station number or code.
Press the specified keys.
You hear a tone.
A long tone (positive confirmation tone) con-
firms that you have successfully activated a
function or procedure.
A short tone (negative confirmation tone) indi-
cates that the function or procedure was re-
jected.

Answering Calls
Your telephone rings
Handsfree Answer
You can hear an alerting tone and an an-
nouncement from a colleague (=speaker call).
You can answer the caller (=handsfree an-
swer).
Making Calls
Lift the handset.
Speak.
Lift the handset.
Speak.
Lift the handset.
Internal: Dial the station number.
External: Dial the external code and external
number.
You can also make calls without lifting
the handset. When you dial the first
digit, open listening is activated auto-
matically. When the other party an-
swers, lift the handset. If the other
party does not answer or is busy,
press the Speaker or Release key.

Reserve Trunk
Function Keys
You can use the fixed function keys on your
optiset E basic to activate the following func-
tions without having to enter codes.
Consultation Hold
Initiating consultation hold (you are
conducting a call)
Ending consultation hold
Lift the handset.
Dial the external code and external number.
If configured, you can wait five seconds, until
the busy signal stops, when an external line is
busy and thus reserve this line for yourself.
Then replace the handset.
Once the line is free, your telephone will ring.
When you lift the handset, you hear the exter-
nal dial tone. Now dial the external number.
Press the Consultation key.
Dial the number of the other party (internal/
external dialing

Conduct a consultation call (the first call is on

Call Transfer
You are engaged in a call and would like to
transfer it to another party

announce and transfer it to a group of
users with a speaker call (Release 2.2 and
later)

Dial the telephone number of the other party

internal party answers or wait until after the
other internal/external party answers.

Dial the group’s station number and an-
nounce the call..
After a member of the group answers:
replace the handset to transfer the call.

Press the Redial key.
The last external number called is redialed.

You hear a bleep tone during a call
To return to the first call
Lift the handset.
Dial the internal station number.
If the party is busy, wait approximately five
seconds. The party is then called.
Replace the handset (the current call is dis-
connected). Your telephone rings.
