As t e owner of a new earing system, you may once again
enjoy t e sounds of your environment, and conversation
wit your family and friends.
T ese instructions as well as guidance from your earing
instrument specialist will elp you understand ow your new
earing system works. In t is guide, you’ll find instructions
about t e insertion, removal and use of your INTUISTM ea-
ring system. T ere are also tips and information on proper
andling, cleaning, care and c anging of t e batteries. In
addition, a troubles ooting section is offered for your refe-
rence.
Your earing improvement wit a earing system depends
on t e fit of t e earing instruments, t e type and degree
of earing loss, and proper diagnostic testing. Of course, a
earing system cannot restore normal earing, and not
everyone will benefit equally.
More t an 80 percent of individuals wit a earing loss ave
a earing loss in bot ears. Studies s ow t at even w en a
earing loss is worse in one ear, most people wit a earing
loss in bot ears will benefit from wearing two instruments.
Remember, a earing system consists of finely-tuned devices
t at ave been specially designed and expertly adjusted for
your individual needs. Proper care and andling will ensure

Battery insertion and removal
Handling the battery
T e protective tab on your
battery s ould only be removed
w en you are ready to use t e
battery.
Inserting the battery
Open t e battery compartment
wit your fingernail as s own in
t e illustration.
Swivel open t e battery compart-
ment door, if not already open.
Place t e proper size battery so
t at t e "+” symbol on t e battery
matc es t e "+” marked on t e
battery compartment.
Three use ul tips:
• T e positive (+) side of t e battery is always t e
smoot side. You can recognize t e negative (-) side
by t e colored ring.
• Always keep spare batteries wit you
• If you t ink you cannot c ange t e battery by yourself,
ask someone to elp you: a family member, friend or
your earing instrument specialist.

Gently close t e battery compart-
ment by pressing t e bottom of
t e door upward wit your finger
tip. Do not force t e door s ut. If
it does not close easily, c eck to
see if t e battery was inserted
properly. W en t e battery door
is completely closed, your earing
instrument is ready for use.
Removing the battery
Normally t e battery drops out
w en t e compartment is comple-
tely open. If t e battery does not
come out, lig tly tap t e system or
pus t e battery out wit a pencil
as s own.
Low battery indicator
Your earing system may be programmed to inform you
w en t e battery s ould be replaced for best system perfor-
mance. You may ear an intermittent series of beeps and/or
experience low amplification power or volume. C ange t e
battery w en eit er of t ese occurs.

Caution:
Keep batteries and instruments away rom the reach o
children.
Batteries can be harm ul i swallowed.
I swallowed consult a physician or a hospital
immediately.
Change the batteries when any o the ollowing occur:
- volume becomes so ter or weak
- you hear a battery signal beep
Do NOT throw used batteries into household trash.
Return them to your hearing instrument specialist
or environmentally correct disposal.

Battery com artment door lock
Your instrument is equipped wit
a battery compartment door lock.
T ey are intended to prevent t e
unintentional removal of batteries
from t eir compartment.
To lock t e battery compartment,
open t e compartment door to t e
first stop. Pus t e slide to t e
rig t wit a suitable tool.
To unlock t e battery compart-
ment again, open t e compart-
ment door to t e first stop. Pus
t e slide to t e left wit a suitable
tool.
Your earing instrument specialist
can furt er instruct you on t e use
of t is feature, if necessary.

Inserting and removing
your INTUIS BTE
Make sure t at your earing
instrument is turned off. Hold t e
earmold between your t umb and
index finger and insert it carefully
into your ear canal. You may find
it elpful to pull your ear slig tly
upward or to t e back. Gently
work t e earmold into its proper
position by adjusting it until it is
firmly seated in your ear. Once
inserted, you s ould be able to
feel if t e earmold is placed
correctly. Next, place your earing
instrument be ind your ear and
turn it on.
Tip:
Practice inserting and removing
your earing instrument correctly.
An easy way to practice is to sit
down at a table. Place a mirror in
front of you and prop your elbows
on t e table so you can guide
your ands easily and safely. T is
will elp you stay relaxed and
comfortable w ile you practice.
