General 1
Safety note
Checks and adjustments which must be performed with radiationswitched on are identi-
fied with the radiation symbol . Radiation protection must be worn during these types
of adjustments.
Protective conductor test 1
Perform the protective conductor test according to TI 236 / ARTD - 002.731.17... after
completing all service work and reattaching all covers. The protective conductor resis-
tance must not exceed 0.2 ohms.

When performing service work and tests, observe the product-
specific safety information contained in the system documenta-
tion as well as the safety information contained in Register 2 of
the TI folder.

The option is functional only if the system is upgraded with soft-
ware Update (UI SP 013 / 01).

Unpacking / assembling the ultrasound system 1
•TheSONOLINEPrimadoesnotrequireanyspecialinstallationinstructions.Allyou need
todo isunpacktheunitas describedin the "unpacking procedure"affixedtothe outside
oftheunit and attahtheaccessories.
Mechanical modifications on LITHOSTAR Multiline 1
Preparation 1
•TurnthesystemOn.
•Movethe Multilineto position"0".
•Movethe W driveto the gel position.
•Raisethetabletop to the upper endposition.
•Movethe unitall the way back to the end position(in X direction).
•Removethe right side panel from theunit.
•Remove the inner righthand cover from the coupling system (1/Fig.1).
•Disconnect theinternal probeplug X20.
Observe ESD regulations to avoid damage.

Mounting the probe holder
•Placethetemplateon the right side cover as shown in figure2 and secure it with
adhesivetape.
•Attachablade suitablefor wood tothejigsawand cutoutthesectionmarked(2/Fig.2).
•Deburrthe cutting line.

•Holdthemounting panel to the right
support(Fig.3) andmark the mounting
holes.Watchforthecorrectplacementof
theanglepiece (3/Fig.3).
•Movetheunit to thestartingposition;
releasethe buttonwhen the system stops
intheX direction.
•Coverthedrillingareatopreventdrill
chipsfromfallingintothe unit. •Holdthe mounting paneltothe supporton theright(Fig.3).Besuretocorrectlyplace
theanglepiece(3/Fig.3).
•Drill a6 mm holes. •Attachthe mountingpanel(4/Fig.3) with
2screwsM4 x 12,and 2 washers.
•Removeanydrillchips.
•Movethe unitto thestartingposition;
releasethebuttonwhen thesystemstops
inX direction.
•Attachthemountingpanel (4/Fig.3) with
2screws M4x12,2 washers,and 2 lock
nuts.

•Remove theplastic plugfrom the front
mountingholeof the probe holder (Fig.5).
•Coverthedrillingsidetopreventdrillchips
fromfallingintothe unit. •Installthe probe cable insidetheprobe holder(Fig.6).
•Drill a ∅6mm hole.
•Removeany drillchips.
•Placeanyexcessivecablelength inside
theholder.

•When moving theW drive out,check that theprobe holder doesnot contactboard D7.
Ifyes,repositionthe probeholderso that it clearsboard D7.
•Raisethetabletop to its highestposition.
•Movethe unit back tothe end position (X direction).
•Reattachtheinnerright-handcover to thecouplingsystem(1/Fig.1).
•Reattachtherightside panel.
•Screwthe cable ties tothesupportbracket(Fig.7) usingwashersand lock nuts.
•Usecable ties to secure thecable(Fig. 7).
•Installthe probecableinsidethe probe
holder(Fig.6).
•Placeanyexcessivecablelength inside
theholder.
•Attachtheprobeholder
- front:panel screwand threadedplate.
- back:contactwasherandlocknut.
•Attachthe probeholder
- front:panel screw.
- back:contactwasherand locknut.
Avoid damaging the cables when moving the W drive forward.

Attaching the corrugated hose to the unit 1
•Connectthe Sonolineprotectiveconductorto the stud onthe cable holder (Fig.9).
•Attachthescrewmount for the power cable:
- Loosenthescrew (A/Fig.9)and thenretightenthe clamp.
•Connectthe SONOLINE powersupplycable:
•Routethe video cable andthe fiberoptic cable to the controlcabinet.
•Removethe EMC coverfromN11 in frontofboardsD7 d/c, ifexisting.

thecorrugatedhose. ReplacetheFastonconnectorwiththethe pin-
shaped(male)connector andthe cable conduit.
- Connectboth adapter plugs together(from the corrugatedhose - from
thepowersupply)

•Installthe additionalboard D7 in the control frame. PositionD7 E(motor output stage for
conerotation).
•RemounttheEMC cover.
•Removethe lower shockwavehead cover.
•Remove thejumper from switch S42 (cone drive), if existing, or remove jumperX42 on
boardW2 inthecone drive (Fig.10).
•Reattachthecover.
•Connectthefiberopticcable toboard D6 (observethe colorcode).
•Attach the adhesive clamps to positions 22 and 6 on the right side of the control cabinet.
•Securethefiberopticcableto theadhesiveclamps.
•Connecttheplug from thetable-side operatingpanel to theultrasoundsystem.
•Insertthe inlineprobeinthestoragecompartmentand connect it.
•Connectthecorrugatedtubingtothe SONOLINE, ifrequired.
Ifthecorrugatedtubing has a plug, a wallsupportbracketisrequired.

•Changethe followingparameters:

•Makea backup copyofthe parameterfile.
•IfswitchS42 (safety switchforconerotation)is activated, error0011 willbe displayedon
thehostboardD1.
Ifthishappends,bypassS42 orinsertjumperX42 on boardW2 in thecone drive and
rotatethe conewiththe NBF US to "0°"(Fig.9). When doing this,the probe must be
locatedinthecone drive.
•Perform afunction check for the ultrasound system accordingto the instructions
"InstallationSONOLINE PrimaU3.LH300.031....".
•Checkthe isocenter(seeinstructionsRXL2-120.91....).
•Checkthe shock waverelease.
•AlsocheckECG andrespiration triggerfunctions,where existing.Enterthe required
information in the"TechnicalInfo"menuon the servicePC (seepage13).
•Fillin theupdate completionform (referto page 11) and send a copy to Erlangen.
•To setthe date, time and name ofthe clinic,refer to the SONOLINE Adara Operating
Instructions, Chapiter 4 System setup "General system settings".
•Completetheoperatinginstructionsfor theLITHOSTAR Multiline.
•Filethetechnicaldocumentssuppliedin the system binder.
•Performtheprotectiveconductortest.
