4.1 Introduction
Introduction
This document was created under the usage of Soft Starter 3RW5 PCS 7 Library V9.0 SP2
and explains the basic principles of using this library. The Soft Starter 3RW5 PCS7 Library is
designed according to APL standards for both, blocks and faceplates. This library contains
two CFC templates to fulfill the configurations for 3RW52 and 3RW55 devices.
For reducing configuration time, module driver generation is supported by the library. By
using this driver generator it is ensured that all necessary interconnections will be handled
automatically and the device is ready to operate in SIMATIC PCS 7 environment.
Custom configuration can be done by the user as well. User manual and online help will give
detailed information about the blocks and their input and output pins.
This document will guide you through the necessary steps for using the template and the
module driver generator in a SIMATIC PCS 7 environment using a sample project. This
sample project uses minimum hardware, single station, PLC connected to one 3RW52 Soft
Starter via PROFINET and one 3RW55 Soft Starter via PROFIBUS.

5.2 Installation
Installation
The setup supports German and English. The Setup will guide you through the required
steps. Use "< Back" and "Next >" buttons to navigate through the screens during the
installation process. You can choose your language at the initial screen.
The Soft Starter 3RW5 PCS7 Library has two components:
●AS = Components for Automation System
●OS = Components for Operator Station

Open HW-Config to retrieve the input address of the Soft Starter device.
Note
Note it down or insert it in symbol table for later usage. Each address in the symbol table
should have a valid symbolic name.

Master data library
For using the library in a plant, it is recommended to store the Soft Starter template in the
Master data library. Since this would be beyond the scope of this document, we recommend
you to take a look in "Process Control System PCS 7 CFC for SIMATIC S7" Function

CFC Template
1. Open CFC-Editor by double clicking on the desired CFC-Object.
2. There are two ways to access 3RW5 teplates:
–Master data library
If the Soft Starter template was placed in the Master data library, you will find it in the
project library folder (Notation: ‘Project Name’+’_Lib’ e.g.: GS_SoSt_Lib). Expand the
Master data library node ("ProjName" + "_Lib" e.g.: GS_SoSt_Lib). You will find two
nodes:
- Blocks
- Templates

–3RW5 Soft Starter library
Else, select tab Libraries, located underneath the Catalog view. You will find the Soft
Starter templates in the Soft Starter 3RW5 PCS 7 Library (e.g.:
3RW5_PCS7_LibV90SP2).
Expand the 3RW5_PCS7_LibV90SP2 node. Now you will see two templates,
3RW52_Soft_Starter and 3RW55_Soft_Starter.

3. Drag the desired template object by pressing the left mouse button and drop the object in
the Chart view, as a reference, this getting started document shows both the templates.
The 3RW52_Soft_Starter and 3RW55_Soft_Starter template is now instantiated.
4. The input address of the Soft Starter 3RW52 / 3RW55 device at HW Config can be
assigned to the interconnectable chart I/O "PZDIn03", the interconnection type will be
DWORD and it should be connected with syntax "ID" as shown in the above screenshot.
(Input address of 3RW52 / 3RW55 Softstarter device) without opening the template.
Note
Manual interconnections
In the CFC, connect "
PZDIn03 (Input address of 3RW52 / 3RW55 Soft Starter device)".
There are two ways:

Via the already created symbolic name
•
Via direct input of the calculated address

Generate module drivers
1. Go to Chart > Compile > Chart as Program or hit Ctrl+B or click in the toolbar. The
Compile dialog opens.
2. Make sure that the option Generate module drivers is ticked on.
3. Confirm dialog with the OK-Button.
4. After compilation has finished, Logs dialog will be displayed. Confirm this dialog by the
Close button.
5. Updated interconnection can now be checked in the chart view by pressing F5
