Important: This jumper JP7 has to be set at the correct
position for this controller to work properly.

•Set JP7 to 1-2 (default setting) if there's a hard disk
drive connected to the Ultra ATA Connector.
•SetJP7to2-3iftheUltraATAConnectorisnotused.

Hardware Installation
General instructions for installing the card are provided
below. Since the design of computer cases and
motherboards vary, refer to your computer’s reference
manual for further information, if needed.
1. Turn OFF the power to your computer.
2. Unplugthepowercordandremoveyourcomputer's
cover.
3. Remove the slot bracket from an available PCI slot.
4. Carefully align the card to the selected PCI slot and
push the board down firmly, but gently, until it is
well seated.
5. Replace the slot bracket's holding screw to secure
the card.
DeviceConnection
If you plan to use the Ultra ATA channel, you will need
to purchase a 40-pin/80-wire Ultra ATA ribbon cable.
ConnectingtheSerialATAdrive
Note: Skip the following 5 steps if you are not installing
a Serial ATA drive at this time.
1. Install hard disk drive in chassis.
2. SetjumperJP7,referbackto JumperConfiguration
on page 2.
3. ConnecttheSerialATAharddiskdrivetothesystem
power supply using the Serial ATA power cable
adapter.
4. Connect one end of the Serial ATA cable to the hard
disk drive.
5. Attach the other end of the Serial ATA cable to the
Serial ATA connector on the board.

6. IfyouarenotconnectinganUltraATAharddriveat
this time, replace the PC's cover and plug-in the
power cord.
ConnectingtheUltraATAdrive
Note: Skip the following 5 steps if you are not installing
anUltraATAdriveatthistime. TheUltraATAconnector
only supports one Ultra ATA hard disk drive.
1. Set your Ultra ATA drive up as Single or Master.
2. Install the Ultra ATA drive in chassis.
3. SetjumperJP7,referbackto JumperConfiguration
on page 2.
4. Attach one connector of the Ultra ATA ribbon cable
to the board's Ultra ATA Connector and the other
connector to your Ultra ATA drive. Make sure pin
1 on the cable (indicated by the colored stripe)
matches pin 1 on the board's connector and your
IDE drive.

5. Connectthesystem'spowerconnectortothedrive's
power connector.
6. ReplacethePC'scoverafteralltheconnectionshave
been made and plug-in the power cord.
Software Installation
This section provides information on how to install the
SerialATA+Ultra ATA Combo drivers.
Windows98/98SEDriverInstallation
For New Windows 98/98SE Installation
1. Follow Microsoft procedures to install Windows 98
accordingly.
2. Once Windows has been installed, right click My
Computer and click Properties. Select Device
Manager tab.
3. Double click PCI Mass Storage Controller listed
under Other Devices.
4. Select Driver tab, then click Update Driver button.
5. Insert the driver diskette and click Next.
6. Select Search for a better driver... and click Next.
7. Check Floppy disk drives, clear the other boxes,
then click Next. Click Next again, then Finish.
8. Remove the driver diskette and restart Windows to
complete driver installation.
For Existing Windows 98/98SE Installation
1. Boot up Windows.
2. At the Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next.
3. SelectSearchforthebestdriverforyourdeviceand
click Next.

4. Insertthedriverdiskette,checkFloppydiskdrives,
clear the other boxes, then click Next.
5. Click Next and Finish.
6. Remove the driver diskette and restart Windows to
complete driver installation.
WindowsMEDriverInstallation
For New Windows ME Installation
1. Follow Microsoft procedures to install Windows
ME accordingly.
2. Once Windows has been installed, right click My
Computer, then click Properties. Select Device
Manager tab.
3. Double click PCI Mass Storage Controller listed
under Other Devices.
4. Select Driver tab, then click Update Driver button.
5. Insert the driver diskette, select Automatic search
forabetterdriver(Recommended),thenclickNext.
6. Click Finish, remove the driver diskette and restart
Windows to complete driver installation.
For Existing Windows ME Installation
1. Boot up Windows.
2. AttheAddNewHardwareWizard,insertthedriver
diskette.
3. Select Automatic search for a better driver
(Recommended), then click Next.
4. Click Finish.
5. Remove the driver diskette and restart Windows to
complete driver installation.

VerifyInstallationforWindows98/98SE/ME
1. Right-click My Computer, then click Properties.
Select Device Manager tab.
2. Double click SCSI Controllers, an entry, Silicon
Image SiI 3112... Controller should be listed.
3. Highlight Silicon Image SiI 3112... Controller and
click Properties. A message This device is working
properly is displayed in the dialog box. If an error
message is displayed, remove Silicon Image SiI
3112... Controller and restart your system.
WindowsNT4.0DriverInstallation
For New Windows NT4.0 Installation
1. Follow Microsoft procedures to install Windows
NT4.0 accordingly.
2. At the Windows NT Setup screen, press F6 to
specify and add the driver.
3. Press S, select Other, then press Enter.
4. Insert the driver diskette and press Enter.
5. SelectSiliconImageSiI3112...Controllerandpress
Enter.
6. Press Enter to continue and follow on-screen
instructions to complete the installation.
For Existing Windows NT4.0 Installation
Note: If the hard disk drive connected to your controller has a
boot partition, do not connect this drive until the controller's
driverhasbeencompletelyinstalledinWindowsNT. Followthe
instructions below to install the driver for the controller first,
then shut down your system and connect the hard disk drive.
1. Boot up Windows NT4.0.
2. Double click My Computer/Control Panel/SCSI
Adapters, then click the Drivers tab.

3. Click Add... then Have Disk....
4. Insert the driver diskette, type in A:, then click OK.
5. Highlight Silicon Image SiI 3112... Controller and
click OK.
6. ClickOK,removethedriverdisketteandrestartNT
to complete driver installation.
VerifyInstallationforWindowsNT4.0
1. Double click My Computer/Control Panel/SCSI
Adapters.
2. Silicon Image SiI 3112... Controller should be
displayed.
Windows2000DriverInstallation
For New Windows 2000 Installation
1. Follow Microsoft procedures to install Windows
2000 accordingly.
2. Restart your system when prompted during
Windows' installation.
3. At the Windows 2000 Setup screen, press F6 to
install the driver.
4. Insert the driver diskette. Press S, then press Enter.
5. SelectSiliconImageSiI3112...Controllerandpress
Enter.
6. Press Enter to continue and follow on-screen
instructions to complete the installation.
For Existing Windows 2000 Installation
Note: If the hard disk drive connected to your controller has a
boot partition, do not connect this drive until the controller's
driverhas been completely installed in Windows2000. Follow
theinstructionsbelowtoinstallthedriverforthecontrollerfirst,
then shut down your system and connect the hard disk drive.

1. Boot up Windows.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard, click Next.
3. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device
(recommended) and click Next.
4. Insertthedriverdiskette,checkFloppydiskdrives,
unchecktheotherboxes, andclickNext. ClickNext
again to continue.
5. IftheDigitalSignatureNotFoundmessageappears,
click Yes. Our driver has been thoroughly tested in
Windowsforstability.
6. Click Finish, remove the driver diskette and restart
Windows to complete driver installation.
WindowsXPDriverInstallation
For New Windows XP Installation
1. Follow Microsoft procedures to install Windows
XP accordingly.
2. Restart your system when prompted by Windows'
installation.
3. AttheWindowsSetupscreen,pressF6toinstallthe
driver.
4. Insert the driver diskette. Press Sthen press Enter.
5. SelectSiliconImageSiI3112...Controllerandpress
Enter.
6. Press Enter to continue and follow on-screen
instructions to complete Windows XP installation.
Note: When the Software Installation warning
pops up, click Yes. And when the Hardware
Installation warning pops up, click Yes again. Our
driverhasbeenthoroughlytestedinWindowsforstability.

For Existing Windows XP Installation
Note: If the hard disk drive connected to your controller has a
boot partition, do not connect this drive until the controller's
driverhasbeencompletelyinstalledinWindowsXP. Followthe
instructions below to install the driver for the controller first,
then shut down your system and connect the hard disk drive.
1. Boot up Windows.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard, insert the
driver diskette, select Install the software
automatically (Recommended), then click Next.
3. When a warning message pops up, click Continue
Anyway, then click Finish. Our driver has been
thoroughlytestedin Windowsforstability.
4. Remove the driver diskette and restart Windows to
complete driver installation.
VerifyInstallationforWindows2000/XP
1. Right click My Computer and click Manage.
2. Select Device Manager.
3. Double click SCSI and RAID Controllers, then
double click Silicon Image SiI 3112... Controller to
display driver properties.
4. AmessageThisdeviceisworkingproperlyisdisplayed
in the dialog box, the driver has been correctly
installed.
Bios Configuration
The Serial ATA+Ultra ATA Combo BIOS will appear
everytimeyoursystemstartsup. Ifthebiosdoesn'tshow,
pleasetryyourcontrollerinanotherPCIslot. Duringthis
(Post) process, the bios will show up and indicate the
devices attached to it.
