Please note there are many variations of the
loop type spreader bar but they should all be
used exclusively by slings with: LOOP FIXINGS

Sling Application:
This harness needs to be applied in a lying position.
Use slide sheets to assist with the insertion if
necessary.
Insert the harness under the patient, with the label
facing outward (towards the bed/mat).
Place arms through hoisting straps. With straps
positioned over the shoulders.
Remove hook & loop protective strip from the main
body/waist section and t rmly around body,
ensuring it is positioned below the waist towards the
hip area.

Remove hook & loop protective strip from the
elasticated blue pelvic strap (positioned at the back)
and stretch it rmly around the front of the patient’s
pelvis and secure to the hook & loop pad on the
opposite side.
It may be necessary to roll the patient to facilitate this.
Repeat on the other side by taking the other blue
elasticated pelvic strap and secure to the hook and
loop on the other side.
It may be necessary to roll the patient to facilitate this.

Remove hook & loop protective strip from the
elasticated green thoracic strap and secure across the
patient’s chest or under the bust.
(Ensure strap is positioned with the hoisting straps on
the outside).
Bring the two groin straps between the legs. Close
together the leg and shoulder clunk-click buckles.
Adjust tension as necessary to fully support patient in
standing. Adjust the padded covers under the groin
for maximum comfort.

Remove hook & loop protective strip from the chest
strap and secure around chest - on top of the hoisting
straps.
Once you are happy that the harness is correctly and
securely tted to your patient and that the straps or
‘D’ Rings are securely attached to the spreader bar the
transfer can commence.
NB: The shoulder straps have adjustable sliders
which can lengthen or shorten to the required
length. Do not attempt to lift the patient until you are
satised that the tape xings are securely attached to
the spreader bar and you are happy that the harness is
the correct size and t for your patient.
Once the harness has been removed ensure that
all hook and loop protective strips are replaced to
protect product.

Important:
The Trunk & Pelvic Neoprene Harness is designed
for a general purpose transfer for patients with
some weight bearing ability. Used from a
recumbent, seated to standing positions.
The patient must be assessed by a competent
person who is fully trained in the suitability,
application and tting of the sling.
Carers should always be trained in the use of lifts
and slings. Correct sizing of a sling is important,
if in any doubt consult your Moving and Handling
Advisor.
Service Label & Sling Checks:
All products should be checked each time they
are used for any signs of deterioration.
Please Check:
- braiding/tapes for deterioration and fraying
- material for holes/snagging
- compatibility with the hoist
- safe working load of both the hoist and sling/product
(if applicable)
- label is legible
Remove from use immediately if there are any signs
of deterioration to the sling or tapes or the label
is illegible. The Service Label is a visual indicator of
when the 6-monthly or annual hoist inspection has
been completed. This is in line with LOLER (Lifting
Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations).

Washing Guidelines:
• HAND WASH ONLY
• Always ensure that all Hook & Loop fastenings are
fully closed before washing.
• All products should be laundered using non-
biological detergents.
• Metal xings are sometimes used in our products.
Care should be taken to ensure that all products
containing metal attachments are washed in a
pillowcase or wash bag to prevent damage to the
product or to washing equipment. Silvalea accept
no liability for damage to laundry equipment.
• DO NOT IRON
• Always remove the head support bones prior to
washing to prevent damage to the sling & bones
• Silva-Superne with COOLMAX® mesh slings are
provided with a wash bag. The wash bag MUST
be used during laundering.
Product Care:
• Ensure that any Hook & Loop fastenings are closed
when not in use. This will prevent unnecessary
snagging of the sling material and prevent
clogging of the Hook & Loop.
• Launder regularly.
• Store products in a suitable dry clean place.
• Silvalea will accept no liability for any additions/
adaptations made to our products that have NOT
been carried out by ourselves. Doing so may cause
serious injury or death to the user.
Drying Guidelines:
• DO NOT TUMBLE DRY
• Overheating a textile product can cause
deterioration in the material components.
• Do not place the product on a convector heater or
steam pipes.
