3. Getting started:
• Unscrew the battery compartment screw.
• Insert all three AA batteries respecting the polarity.
• Close the lid and tighten the screw.
• Start the instrument by pressing the red ON/OFF button.
• The device will start to flash straightaway.
For this reason, do not direct it at people or animals.
The device will flash at the frequency that was set most recently.
Please follow the steps below when setting up the device:
Direct the device at a moving object and turn the scrolling wheel to adjust the
flashing rate.
The display shows the selected flash frequency in the unit that was set most
recently (Hz or FPM).
• If the flash frequency coincides with the frequency of the motion, a static
image appears.
4. General usage
The stroboscope offers five different menus to operate the stroboscope.
By pressing the wheel (button 4) the stroboscope moves from one menu to
the next.
Symbol Name Description
FPM Main operating menu to set the flash rate
(FPM – flash per minute).
Phase Menu to change the phase of the flash. While
keeping the same flash rate, adjusting the phase
allows to move the frozen image.
Brightness Menu to adjust the brightness / duration of the
flash.
Torch Menu to use the stroboscope as a torch light.
Setting Menu to change the settings of the stroboscope
to the preferences of the operator.

11EN
4.1 Flashes per minute
After starting the instrument, the stroboscope is by default in the mode
“FPM” (flashes per minute).
Stroboscopic light is turned on automatically in FPM mode and turned off in
‘torch’ or ‘settings’ mode.

Adjust flashing rate by
scrolling the wheel
Scrolling speed can be
toggled between fast and slow
by pressing button 1 and 2
Fig. 4 – Flashes per minute (FPM)
The flash rate can be changed by rotating the wheel (button 3).
To quicker find the right flash rate, the rate of change can be influenced by
A. Toggling the adjustment speed by pressing button 2.
B. the speed of rotating the wheel (button 3). Faster rotations have a faster
change rate, while slower rotations allow precise adjustments.
The change rate for fast adjustments can be customised in the settings.

12 EN
4.2 Phase mode
The phase mode allows to rotate the frozen image while keeping the same
flash rate.
Changing the phase is very helpful for inspections as all parts of the machine
can be inspected without changing the flash rate.
Rotating the wheel (button 3) changes the phase.

13EN
4.4 Brightness
The brightness of the stroboscope can be adjusted by changing the duration
of the flash. The clarity of the frozen image and the brightness are correlated.
A longer flash gives more brightness but makes the frozen image blurrier.
Adjusting the brightness helps to find the right relation for the inspection job.
The brightness can easily be adjusted by rotating the wheel (button 3).
The brightness is quantified by a percentage of adjustment range.

Brightness
Adjust brightness by scrolling the
wheel. Brightness is also called
“Flash Duration”: it changes the
“on” time of the flashing light,
which can cause a blurry image
if too bright.

4.5 Torch mode
The torch mode allows the stroboscope to be used as a flash light.
Default: The torch is turned off.
Press button 2 to turn the torch “on” and press button 1 to turn the torch
“off”.
