INTRODUCTION
The DPN-4Duo is a dedicated multi-platform KVM
switch capable of managing four dual-head
computers through two DisplayPort monitors, one
USB keyboard, one USB mouse. The dual-head
compatibility of the switch enables increased
workflow capabilities. DisplayPort is one of the latest
options in screen connectivity that delivers top quality
high definition video, and this device is DisplayPort
1.2 compliant with support for screen resolutions up
to 3840x2160 (@30Hz).
HDMI and DVI video connections are supported with
the proper video converters, and the device is
backwards compatible with prior DisplayPort versions.
The USB emulation technology utilized by DPN-4 Duo
enables immediate hot key source switching through
the connected USB keyboard and mouse. Additional
USB peripherals can be attached, like a USB printer.
Front Panel Control
To switch ports using the front panel, press the M1 or
M2 button to navigate from computer to computer.
The numbered LED lights will indicate which computer
is selected.
Hotkey Commands
The Hotkey command is a keyboard sequence used
to trigger an action on the DPN-4 Duo through the
use of the keyboard connected on the USB port of
the DPN-4 Duo. To activate the hotkey sequence,
press the CTRL key twice and then enter the desired
hotkey commands.
RS-232 Control
Use an RS-232 serial cable to connect a computer
to the RS-232 port of the DPN-4 Duo. Use terminal
client software to connect to and control the DPN-4
Duo. Make sure to use the communication mode of
9600 bps, 8, N, 1, (no flow control).
CONNECTING THE DPN-4 DUO
1. Ensure that power is disconnected from the DPN-4 DUO.
2. Connect the DisplayPort cables, USB cables (male-A to male-B) and Audio cables from the computers to the
respective ports on the DPN-4 DUO.
3. Optionally connect RS-232 for control functions.
4. Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to the two USB ports marked for them on the right.
5. Connect the DisplayPort monitors to the OUT connectors on the DPN-4 DUO.
6. Connect speakers to the Audio out jack on the DPN-4 DUO.
7. Power on the DPN-4 DUO.
Note: The 2 USB ports on the right are dedicated for keyboard and mouse emulation. The 2 on the left are for
other USB peripherals. (flash drives, printers, etc.)
