1 Introduction
The Home Sleep Camera is a portable camera for the recording of movement during
sleep while simultaneously recording physiological signals with the SOMNOwatchTM
plus. The Home Sleep Camera offers synchronized video recording under IR-illumi-
nation. The internal storage of 16 GB enables up to 100 hours of recording. Due to the
ease of installation and operation, it is suitable for use in the patient’s home for
ambulatory screenings.
For initialisation of the equipment (SOMNOwatchTM plus and the Home Sleep Camera
Rev.C or higher) and the analysis of the synchronised video, DOMINO light software
1.5.0 or higher is required.
An online measurement is not possible with the Home Sleep Camera. SOMNOmedics
offers a range of video cameras for stationary applications with online measurements.
The SOMNOwatchTM plus and its components (camera) may only be used as follows:
On patients from the first month of life, do not use on premature infants
This product is not to be used as a life support device to monitor patients
Check all cables and connections for damage before using this device.
Damaged parts must be replaced immediately.
Please contact SOMNOmedics or your SOMNOmedics distributor.
If the device is damaged (e.g. broken case) it must be taken out of service immediately.
Please refer to the safety notes in the main manual of the SOMNOwatchTM plus.

3 Initialisation and Synchronization
As a minimum requirement, DOMINO light V1.5.0 or higher is required.
For a synchronized measurement with video, it is important to connect the
SOMNOwatchTM plus via the docking station and the Home Sleep Camera over the
network to the same PC. If you use several Home Sleep Cameras make sure that only
one Home Sleep Camera is connected to the network at a time.
Connect the SOMNOwatchTM plus to the docking station and turn it on, by clicking on
the button of the SOMNOwatchTM plus. Then click on the Initialisation icon on the
DOMINO light panel.

(1).
oPlease also activate “Initialise Home Sleep”(2).
oActivate the initialisation process by clicking on “Initialise” (3).
The IP-address of the Home Sleep Camera should already be set.
If not, you will need to enter it now.
The configuration data for the recording are sent to the SOMNOwatchTM plus and the
camera.

4 Import of the video
4.1 Manually from the Camera via Ethernet cable
Transfer the recording from the SOMNOwatchTM plus to the PC and open the
measurement with DOMINO light software. Connect the camera to the power supply
and to the network you use for the camera.
Click on “File” and “Import video from camera” in the open recording (Figure 6).
In the ‘Video Import’ window (Figure 7) select the first tab ‘from
camera storage” (1).
If not active, activate “ Delete video after import” (2). If the
IP-address of the Home Sleep Camera is not set, click the
button (3) and enter the IP-address then click “OK”.
Click on “Connect”(4). The video file on the camera storage is
displayed and activated (5). Click “Download”(6) to start the
transfer of the video. The video is now imported and saved
with the recording. The video download needs approximatelly
15 s per hour of recorded video e.g., 3 minutes for 12 h video
duration.

Note:
The video can only be imported to the corresponding recording of the SOMNOwatchTM
plus (same device and recording time)! Other video files are not displayed.

If all video files can not be transferred, a warning dialog is shown (Figure 8). If you click
on ‘Abort’ the transfer process is aborted, no videos are shown and videos on the Home
Sleep Camera are not deleted. If you click on ‘Repeat’ DOMINO light will try to import
the missing video files again. If you click on ‘Ignore’, the transferred video sections are
imported.
PLEASE NOTE: Once imported, all sections of the video on the Home Sleep Camera
will be deleted. Be sure, that you no longer need these files as you will not be able to
restore them after deletion.

4.2 Manually from the USB-stick of the camera
Transfer the recording from the SOMNOwatchTM plus to the PC and open the
measurement with DOMINO light software.
For a faster video transfer it is possible to unplug the USB-stick from the camera (see
Figure 1) and to connect it directly to your PC. For maximum transfer speed use a
USB3.0 port.
Click on “File” and “Import Video from Camera” in the open recording (Figure 6). In the
‘Video Import’ window (Figure 9) choose the second tab ‘From Directory” (1).
If not active, activate “ Delete video after import” (2).
Click on the button(3), choose the path to the USB-stick (named HOMESLEEP) (3),
if it is not already set, and click “OK”. The video on the storage is displayed and
activated (4). Click “Download” (5) to start the transfer of the video. The video is now
imported and saved with the recording. This needs approximatelly 2 s per hour of
recorded video e.g., ~30 s for 12 h video duration.

only if the camera is disconnected from mains power supply. The Home Sleep Camera
must be restarted after connecting the USB-stick.

5 Mounting the camera at home (Patient Guide)
Before the recording:
Please start to set-up the camera 10-15 minutes before the recording is scheduled to
start. The camera should be placed 1.5 m from the foot end of the bed. Please adjust
the tripod to a height of 1.5 m and aim the camera towards the middle of the bed.
The camera must have a continuous power supply during the recording so be sure to
plug the DC-Adapter into a power socket. If the cable is not long enough, please use an
extension cable. The camera will start recording at the time you agreed to with your
doctor. The Infrared (IR)-illumination will be switched on automatically and you will see
small red lights on the front of the camera. If these red lights are not visible after the
recording was scheduled to start, please check the camera’s power supply to ensure
that it is plugged in correctly.
After the recording:
Wait a few minutes after the recording has finished to disconnect the power supply and
unplug the camera. This is important because if the power is disconnected too early,
parts of the video could be lost.
Please don’t be alarmed if the front and upper part of the camera gets warm. This is
due to the IR-illumination and is part of the normal functioning of the device.
