BATTERY
INSTALLATION
Follow
steps
1
to
3
in
sequence.
Battery
replacement
The
OPRIBATT
indicator
will
help
you
to
know
the
bat-
tery
condition.
During
operation,
the
OPR/BATT
indi-
cator
lights
up.
When
the
batteries
are
weak,
the
indica-
tor
will
glow
faintly
and
playback
or
recording
sound
will
become
distorted
or
unstable.
In
this
case,
replace
both
batteries.
For
battery
life,
see
“Specifications”
on
page
23.
You
can
also
operate
the
set
with
an
optional
ac
power
adaptor
or
an
optional
car
battery
cord
listed
in
‘“‘Specifi-
cations”
on
page
23.

cassette,
take
up
any

tape
with
a
thick
pencil.

Insert

with

desired
side
toward
you
and
the
tape
surface
upwards.

the
headphone
plug
to

jack.

volume

VOL
control.
To
stop
the
tape,
press
the
STOP
button.
To
advance
the
tape
rapidly,
depress
the

rewind
the
tape,
depress

During
playback,
tape
motion
stops
at
the
end
of
the
tape
and
the
locked
PLAY
button
will
be
released
by
the
automatic
shut-off
mechanism.
In
fast-forward
or
rewind
mode,
the
motor
stops
at
the
end
of
the
tape
to
avoid
battery
wear.
Be
sure
to
press
the
STOP
button
to
release
the

or
BR
button.

and
deck
B
are
played
back
at
the
same
time,
the
sound
of
deck
A
will
be
heard.

Some
undesired
noise
may
be
heard
if
the
fast-
forward
or
rewind
function
is
used
on
one
deck
while
you
are
playing
back
on
the
other.

*
NR
SWITCH
When
playing
back
a
Dolby
NR-processed
tape,
set
this
switch
to
ON.
When
playing
back
a
tape
recorded
with-
out
the
Dolby
NR
process,
set
it
to
OFF.
*The
built-in
Dolby
NR
system
reduces
tape
hiss
noise.
Since
this
system
operates
through
both
record
and
playback
mode,
the
DOLBY
NR
switch
should
be
set
to
the
same
position
as
that
usec
in
recording.

EQ
SELECTOR
For
TYPE
IV
(metal)
tapes
or
TYPE
II
(CrO,)
tapes,
we
recommend
the
METAL/CrO,
position.
For
TYPE
|
(normal)
tapes,
set
the
PB
EQ
selector

NORM.

system

selector

During
