Purpose of this manual This manual is the installation manual of the BKSM-T101 SDDI Input Board.
This manual is intended for use by trained system and service engineers, and
describes the information regarding installation.

BKSM-T101
The BKSM-T101 is the board which input the MPEG2 4:2:2P@ML*1component serial digital signal in
SDDI*2format to the encoder board of the DSM-T1/M1.
When this board is installed in the DSM-T1/M1, the digital video and audio signals in SDDI format can
be input and transmitted.
*1: MPEG2 4:2:2 Profile at Main Level
*2: Serial Digital Data Interface
The BKSM-T101 can be installed in the following units.
.DSM-T1 Digital Satellite Modulator
.DSM-M1 SDDI Multiplexer
The BKSM-T101 consists of the following components.
.DIF-51 board : 1 pc.
.SDDI IN rear panel assembly : 1 pc.
.Coaxial cable : 1 pc.
.Screw for board installing (PWH 3x6) : 4 pcs.
.Screw for rear panel installing (B 3x6) : 4 pcs.

To avoid shock hazard, be sure to turn the power of the
DSM-T1/M1 off and unplug the appliance from the outlet
before installing.

There is no necessity to perform the check/adjustment after
the board and the rear panel installing.
Installation position
The DIF-51 board can be installed in either “1” (IN 1) side
or “2” (IN 2) side of the DSM-T1/M1.
The installation position of the SDDI IN rear panel
depends on the DIF-51 board position.
When the DIF-51 board is installed in “1” side, install the
SDDI IN rear panel to the “1” side.
Similarly, when the DIF-51 board is installed in “2” side,
install the SDDI IN rear panel to the “2” side.

Installation
Preparations
(1) Turn the power of the DSM-T1/M1 off, then unplug
the appliance from the outlet.
(2) Remove the six screws, and remove the top panel from
the DSM-T1/M1.
1. Installation of Board
(1) Match the hole on the DIF-51 board with the ejector
pin on the ENC board of the DSM-T1/M1.
(2) Connect the connector on the DIF-51 board to the
connector on the ENC board.

Make sure that the connector is connected tightly.

(3) Secure the DIF-51 board using the four screws (PWH
3x6) supplied with the BKSM-T101.
2. Installation of Rear Panel Assembly
(1) Remove the four screws, and remove the blank panel
from the DSM-T1/M1.

Keep the removed blank panel and screws.
(2) Secure the SDDI IN rear panel using the four screws
(B 3x6) supplied with the BKSM-T101.
3. Connection of Coaxial Cable
(1) Connect the coaxial cable to the BNC connector.
(2) Route the coaxial cable as shown in the figure, and
clamp it with the harness clampers.
(3) Connect the coaxial cable to CN100(A-3) on the DIF-
51 board.
