1. Introduction
E2KT020S-480, E2KT030S-480, E2KT060S-480 and E2KT100S-480 input isolation transformers provide 480V (Delta) to
208V (Wye) step- down and Isolation protection to the connected UPS and its load. The E2KT060S-600 and E2KT100S-
600 Input isolation transformers provide 600V (Delta) to 208V (Wye) step-down and isolation protection to the connected
UPS and its load.
The transformer has input isolation to mitigate utility line surges and spikes, while protecting the UPS. The transformer
includes a built-in breaker at the transformer output side for protection. The ball-bearing fans maintain quiet operation (four
fans for 60K models, three fans for 100K models). An overheat-sensing relay and switch combine with a warning light to
provide over-temperature warning and overheating protection. The UPS system’s small footprint and quiet acoustic profile
enable installations with minimal space and noise impact. All transformer models feature rugged all-metal housings with
front panels similar to the E2KU (25-100K) 208V 3-Phase UPS line.

2. Important Safety Warnings
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
This manual contains important instructions for models E2KT020S-480, E2KT030S-480, E2KT060S-480, E2KT060S-
600, E2KT100S-480 and E2KT100S-600 that should be followed during installation and maintenance of the
transformer and UPS.
CAUTION! Risk of electrical shock! Hazardous live parts inside this unit are energized from the
transformer even when the breaker is turned off.
WARNING! The unit intended for installation in a controlled environment.
CAUTION! A transformer can present a risk of electric shock and high short circuit current. The following
precaution should be observed when working on the transformer:
• Remove watches, rings or other metal objects.
• Use tools with insulated handles.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, disconnect the transformer and UPS from the mains supply before
performing maintenance or service.
Servicing of the 3-phase transformer and UPS should be performed or supervised by personnel with knowledge
of the 3-phase transformer and UPS and all required precautions. Keep unauthorized personnel away from
batteries.
The transformer is extremely heavy. Caution should be taken in moving and positioning equipment. The
instructions contained within this manual are important and should be closely followed at all times during
installation and follow-up maintenance of the 3-phase transformer and UPS.
CAUTION!
The transformer has a dangerous level of heat. If the transformer’s front-panel red LED indicator is
on, the unit’s outlets may have a dangerous level of heat.
All servicing on this equipment must be carried out by certified service personnel.
Before conducting any maintenance, repair or shipment, first ensure everything is turned off
completely and disconnected.

3.2 Physical Requirements
Leave space around the cabinet for operation and ventilation (Figure 3-1):
1. Leave at least 20 in. (500 mm) space in the front for ventilation
2. Leave at least 20 in. (500 mm) space at the right and left for operation
3. Leave at least 20 in. (500 mm) space at the back for ventilation.

3.3 Unpacking the UPS
1. Don’t lean the transformer cabinet when removing it from the packaging.
2. Check the appearance to see if the transformer cabinet was damaged during transport. Do not power on the
transformer cabinet if any damage is found. Contact the dealer immediately.
3. Check the accessories against the packing list and contact the dealer in case of missing parts.
4. Hold the sliding plate steady. Cut and remove the binding straps (Figure 3-2).

5. Remove the plastic bag and the outer carton (Figure 3-3).

3.5 Power Cables
The cable design shall comply with the voltages and currents provided in this section, and in accordance with local
electrical codes.
WARNING!
UPON STARTUP, ENSURE YOU ARE AWARE OF THE LOCATION AND OPERATION OF THE EXTERNAL
ISOLATORS CONNECTED TO THE UPS INPUT/BYPASS SUPPLY OF THE UTILITY DISTRIBUTION PANEL.
ENSURE THESE SUPPLIES ARE ELECTRICALLY ISOLATED AND POST ANY NECESSARY WARNING SIGNS
TO PREVENT INADVERTENT OPERATION.

4. Operation
4.1 Basic Start-up
1. Confirm the battery is connected. Turn on any external battery cabinet breakers (if applicable).
2. Confirm the transformer cabinet is connected. Turn on the transformer cabinet input transformer breaker.
3. Turn ON the bypass breaker.
4. Turn ON the main input breaker.
5. Turn ON the output breaker.
6. The inverter will perform a slow startup and build up to nominal voltage. The UPS will transfer to Online Mode or ECO
Mode (if enabled) within one to two minutes.
7. Turn on the transformer cabinet output transformer breaker.
8. Confirm no active alarms are present.
4.2 UPS Shutdown
After the following procedure has completed, the UPS will be powered off and the connected load will not be supported.
1. With the UPS in Online Mode or ECO Mode, stop the inverter using the display menu (Home > Common > Single
OFF). The UPS will transfer to Bypass Mode. Confirm the bypass LED is illuminated and the LCD displays Bypass
Mode before proceeding.
2. Turn OFF the transformer cabinet output transformer breaker. The connected load will be dropped.
3. Turn OFF the output breaker.
4. Turn OFF the main input breaker.
5. Turn OFF the bypass breaker. The UPS will power down shortly afterwards.
6. Turn OFF the transformer cabinet input transformer breaker.
7. Turn OFF the battery breaker from the external battery cabinet (if applicable).
4.3 Transfer to Maintenance BypassMode
The UPS will shut down when the following procedure is completed. However, power will continue to be supplied to the
output terminal block.
1. Remove the maintenance bypass breaker cover on the rear of the UPS by removing the two mounting screws. The
UPS will transfer to Bypass Mode automatically. Confirm the bypass LED is illuminated and the LCD displays
Maintenance Bypass before proceeding.
2. Turn ON the maintenance bypass breaker.
3. Turn OFF the transformer cabinet output transformer breaker.
4. Turn OFF the output breaker.
5. Turn OFF the main input breaker.
6. Turn OFF the bypass breaker. The UPS will power down shortly afterwards.
7. Turn OFF the transformer cabinet input transformer breaker.
8. Turn OFF the battery breaker from the external battery cabinet (if applicable). The load is now powered
through Maintenance Bypass.

4.4 Transfer from Maintenance Bypass Mode to Online or ECO Mode
The UPS will return to Online Mode or ECO Mode (if enabled) upon completion of the following procedure.
1. Confirm the battery is connected. Turn ON the external battery cabinet breakers (if applicable).
2. Confirm the transformer cabinet is connected. Turn on the transformer cabinet input transformer breaker.
3. Turn ON the bypass breaker.
4. Turn ON the main Input breaker.
5. Turn ON the output breaker.
6. Turn on the transformer cabinet output transformer breaker.
7. The UPS will transfer to Bypass Mode shortly after initialization. Confirm the unit has transferred to Maintenance
Bypass mode and the Bypass LED is illuminated before proceeding.
8. Turn OFF the maintenance bypass breaker.
9. Reattach the maintenance bypass breaker cover plate to the UPS using the supplied screws.
10. The UPS will transfer to Online Mode or ECO Mode within one to two minutes. The inverter will perform a slow
startup and build up to nominal voltage. Upon completion, the UPS will transfer to Online Mode or ECO Mode (if
enabled).
11. Confirm no active alarms are present.
4.5 Over-Temperature Protection
4.5.1 Over-Temperature Red WarningLED
The transformer includes a warning light on the top portion of the front panel. The light turns ON when the transformer
reaches a temperature of 160°C ±15°C, i.e., a range of 145°C to 175°C (293°F to 347°F). The light turns OFF when the
transformer cools to a temperature of 125°C ±15°C, i.e., a range of 110°C to 140°C (230°F to 284°F).
4.5.2 Over-Temperature Protection Relay andSwitch
The transformer includes an over-temperature protection relay and switch to protect the transformer from overheating. At
temperatures higher than 160°C ±15°C, i.e., a range of145°C to 175°C (293°F to 347°F), an over-temperature protection
relay and thermal switch will activate and will stop the output of the transformer. Once the transformer temperature has
cooled down and the warning LED has turned OFF, you may manually re-activate the thermal switch to restart normal
operation.
