INTRODUCTION
Thank you for adding the STAR TRAC PERSONAL VIEWING SCREEN (PVS) to your Star Trac Purchase. The Personal
Viewing Screen has been designed to provide the user with the most rewarding experience based upon the carefully
planned features it possess. The design elements of this Personal Viewing Screen will provide you with a comfortable,
intuitive, safe and reliable experience, guiding you to a habit-forming lifestyle.
ABOUT THIS MANUAL
This manual is applicable to the STAR TRAC E-UB UPRIGHT BIKE, E-RB RECUMBENT BIKE, E-ST STEPPER, E-TBT
TOTAL BODY TRAINER, and the E-TR TREADMILL. The manual is divided into eight sections, as follows:

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
CHECK FACILITIES PREPAREDNESS
For a proper installation, please read this guide thoroughly and follow the instructions. Star Trac’s goal is to help you have
a successful and reliable installation, for this reason we have come up with some helpful tips and check list to accomplish
this goal.
EQUIPMENT LAYOUT
Check to see that the equipment you will be adding the PVS are placed where they will be used. It is recommended that
you follow your installation guides for each one of your Star Trac pieces of equipment in making sure that there is ample
space around them to insure a safe and enjoyable experience.
INPUT SIGNAL
In the world of entertainment today you have many choices. Star Trac recommends you know what type of video signal
(cable, analogue, digital, satellite, antenna) is in the club facility and if it has a good signal. Don’t forget every installation
is different. Check to see that you have ample video coaxial cable connections to the locations where the PVS will be
installed.
CABLING
When Radio Frequency signals travel through cabling the signal will degrade over distance. Connectors may degrade the
signal as well. Check each output before connecting to your PVS and make sure you have a clean strong signal to insure
an enjoyable experience. The Star Trac PVS requires a minimum signal strength of 45dBmV for analogue channels, and
40% for digital channels. Your club may require signal amplifiers to achieve a good strong signal. Star Trac recommends
you use a qualified installer for your Audio Visual needs.
ELECTRICAL RECEPTACLES
The Personal Viewing Screen requires a plug-in 60 watt power supply to operate (included). Check with your club facility
to ensure ample electrical receptacles are placed next to the equipment for a safe and proper install. Check with your
contractor to make sure you have enough power.

WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS
This lighting flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user
to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of
sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
This exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of
important operating and maintenance (servicing) instruction in the literature accompanying the
appliance.

Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,removethe(8)
screwsonthebackofthedisplayplastic.Setthe
screwsaside,youwillneedthemforreassembly.
STEP 2
Afterthescrewshavebeenremoved,carefullyopen
thedisplayplastic.Makesurenottodetach/snapthe
innercablesfromthedisplayboard.
DisconnectthegroundwirebetweentheHeartRate
boardandthedisplaymount.
STEP 3
Disconnectthe12‐pinserialconnector,displaycable and
theHeartRatecablefromthedisplay.Thensetthe
displayaside.

STEP 4
RemovethecapcoverwiththeStarTraclogofrom
theplasticsbyremovingthe2screwsusinga#2
Philipsscrewdriver.Retainthescrewsforlateruse
butthecapcoverisnolongerneededandcanbe
storedforfutureuse.
STEP 5
Removethe(2)M8buttonheadscrewsusinga5mm
HexKey.Retainthescrewsforlateruse.
STEP 6
Itisnowtimetore‐installthedisplaytothebase
unit.Installthe(4)M8Buttonheadscrewsthrough
thePVSmountingbracketintothedisplaymount.
Note:(2)ofthescrewsareinthePVSkit,(retained
fromearlierstep.
STEP 7
Adjustthecapwiththegrommetintoplace.Using
the5mmHexKey,tightentheM8Buttonhead
Screwsto190lb‐in(21.5N‐m)oftorque.Takethe
(2)Phillipsheadscrewsyouremovedfromthe
originalcapandsnuglytightenscrewsdownusinga
#2Phillipsscrewdriver.
Note:Checkthebacksideofthedisplaytoseethatthe
capisseatedproperly.Ifnot,loosenthetwoPhillips
HeadScrews,adjustthecapandthenretightenthe
screws.

STEP 8
BindthecablesfromthePVSnecktotheonesideof
thedisplaymount.Takethetieandputitthrough
theholeononeofthedisplaymounttube.
STEP 9
Itisnowtimetomakechangestothefrontdisplay.
Disconnectthecenterconsolekeypad.Usinga
#2Phillipsscrewdriverremove(4)screwsthathold
thecenterconsoletothemaindisplay.Retain
screwsforlateruse.Detachthecenterconsolefrom
thedisplay.Youwillnolongerneedthisitemandit
canbestoredawayforanypossiblefutureuse.
STEP 10
Usinga#2Phillipsheadscrewdriver,removethe
screwthatholdsintheblankcoverwherethenew
HeadPhoneJackmountwillgo.Nextremovethe
blankcover.Youwillnolongerneedthisitemandit
canbestoredawayforanypossiblefutureuse.
Retainscrewforlateruse.
STEP 11
TakethePVScenterconsolefromthekit.

Insertthenewcenterconsoleintothefrontdisplay.
Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,screwinthe(4)
screwsthatweresavedtheoriginalcenterconsole.
Tightenthescrewssotheyaresnug.Attachthe
ribboncablefromthecenterconsoletothedisplay
board.
STEP 13
TakethecoaxcablefromthePVSmount
andattachittothecoaxcableonthebaseunit.
Attachpowercabletothepowercableconnector.
Tightentheconnectorssnugtoeachother.
STEP 14
Reconnectthecenterconsolekeypadtothemain
display.
ConnecttheRJ45cablefromtheneckintothecenter
consoleboard.
STEP 15
FeedtheHeadPhoneJackcablefromthePVSdisplayneck
throughtheholeinthefrontdisplayplasticswherethe
blankcoverwasremovedearlier.

Reconnectthegroundcablethatwasdisconnected
fromtheboardanddisplaymount.

Reconnectthe12‐pinserialconnectorandheart
ratecablethatwasdisconnectedfromthedisplay
board.
Note:onE‐SM,thereisaPausecablethatmustbeconnected
tothedaughterboardontheMainKeypad.
STEP 18
TakethefrontdisplayplasticswiththenewCenter
Consoletothebaseunit.Holdthefrontdisplay
plasticsatthetopwithonehandwhileconnecting
thecables/harnesseswiththeother.
STEP 19
Placethedisplayfrontplasticontotheback.Make
surethebottomofthedisplayfrontisunderthe2
tabsonthedisplaymount.Pressthefrontdisplay
againsttheroundtubeandrotateittotheback.Be
carefulnottopinchanywires.

TaketheEntertainmentHeadPhoneJackfromthe
PVSkitandattachittothecablethatishangingout
ofthefrontofthedisplay.Makesuretheconnector
isseatedallthewayintothejack.Nowslidethejack
intothefrontofthedisplay.Usinga#2Phillips
screwdriver,fastentheHeadPhoneJackintothe
frontdisplaywiththescrewthatwassavedfromthe
earlier.
STEP 21
Usinga#Phillipsscrewdriver,securethefront
displaytothebackwiththe(8)screwsyou
previouslyremovedandsaved.
STEP 22
NowthePVSisinstalledontheequipment.Connect
yourcoaxcableandpowersupplytotheunit.Take
thepowersupplyfromthePVSkitandplugthesmall
barrelconnectortotheDCinput.Takethe
appropriatePowerAdapterCablefromthekitand
plugitintothepowersupplyandtheelectrical
receptacle.
Onlyusethepowersupply
thatwasprovidedinyour
PersonalViewingScreenKit.
Usingthewrongsupplymay
damageyourPVS
ThiscompletestheinstallationofthePersonalViewingBracket.Nowitistimetoinstallthescreenanddothe
setup.TurntotheappropriatesectionforyourPersonalViewingScreenManual.

STEP1
Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,remove
the(8)screwsfromtheupperbackof
thedisplay.Placethecoversomewhere
safetokeepitfrombeingdamaged.
Next,removethe(6)screwsfromthe
lowerbackofthedisplay.Placethe
coverwiththeotherone.Retainallthe
screwsforlateruse.
STEP 2
Removetheuppercapcoverthathasthe
STARTRAClogoonit.Thiscapisheldinbythe
upperbackcover.Youwillnolongerneedthiscap
coverand,ifdesired,youcanstoreitawayforany
possiblefutureuse.
STEP 3
Usinga#2Phillipsheadscrewdriver,removethe
screwbelowtheHotbarthatholdsintheblankcover
wherethenewHeadphoneJackmountwillgo.Next
removetheblankcover.Insertandscrewonthenew
HeadPhoneJackusingthepreviousscrews.

STEP 4
DetachtheCenterConsoleRibbonCablefromthe
displayboardbygentlypullingontheribbon
connector.Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,remove
the(4)screwsthatholdthecenterconsoleinplace.
Retainthescrewsforlateruse.Removethecenter
console.Youwillnolongerneedthis
centerconsoleand,ifdesired,youcanstoreitaway
foranypossiblefutureuse.

MountthePVSneckontheTreadmill.Usingthe5mmhex
key,screwinthe(2)M8Buttonheadsatthebaseofthe
PVSfirst(donottightenyet).Usingthe5mmhexkeyput
oneoftheM8Buttonheadscrewsintotheholeonthe
PVSneck,thenputthehexnutwithwasheronthe
backside(donottighten).
STEP 6
Adjustthedisplaycapupordowntoalignwiththe
holesonthedisplayfront.Oncethecapisaligned,
tightenthebuttonheadscrewswiththe5mmhex
key.

NowthattheneckismountedtotheTreadmill,youneed
toroutethewirestotheirproperplaces.
Takethecoaxcableandconnectittothecoaxcable
comingfromtreadmillneck.
ConnecttheDCpowercabletothepowercablecoming
fromtreadmillneck.
NowfeedtheDCpowercableandRJ45cablethrough
thedisplayandoutthecenterconsolehole
STEP 9
Takethefemaleheadphonejackfromtheneck
andplugittothemaleheadphonejackcoming
fromthedisplay.

thecenterconsole.Tightenthescrewssnug.

Phillipsscrewdriverinsertthe(6)screws,retained
fromearlierstep,intotheplasticandtightensnug.
Caution:Donotovertightenscrews.

Replacethetopbackplastic.Usinga#2Phillips
screwdriverinsertthe(8)screws,retainedfrom
earlierstep,intotheplastic.

the(8)screwsfromtheupperbackof
thedisplay.Placethecoversomewhere
safetokeepitfrombeingdamaged.
Next,removethe(6)screwsfromthe
lowerbackofthedisplay.Placethe
coverwiththeotherone.Retainallthe
screwsforlateruse.
STEP 2
Removetheuppercapcoverthathasthe
STARTRAClogoonit.Thiscapisheldinbythe
upperbackcover.Youwillnolongerneedthiscap
coverand,ifdesired,youcanstoreitawayforany
possiblefutureuse.
STEP 3
MountthePVSneckontheTreadmill.Usingthe5mmhex
key,screwinthe(2)M8Buttonheadsatthebaseofthe
PVSfirst(donottightenyet).Usingthe5mmhexkeyput
oneoftheM8Buttonheadscrewsintotheholeonthe
PVSneck,thenputthehexnutwithwasheronthe
backside(donottighten).

STEP 4
Adjustthedisplaycapupordowntoalignwiththe
holesonthedisplayfront.Oncethecapisaligned,
tightenthebuttonheadscrewswiththe5mmhex
key.
STEP 5
Connectthemalepowercablethatcomes
throughtheneckoftheunittothefemale
connectorthatcomesfromthebracket.
STEP 6
Makesuretoconnectthecoaxcablethatcomes
fromtheneckisconnectedtothecoaxcablethat
leadstothedisplay.
STEP 7
Usinga#2Phillipsscrewdriver,removethescrew
thatholdsintheBlankHeadPhoneJackCapatthe
lowerfrontofthedisplay.Retainthescrewyouwill
nolongerneedthecapand,ifdesired,youcanstore
itawayforanypossiblefutureuse.Nowtakethe
newHeadPhoneJackfromthePVShardwarekit.
Usethepreviouslyretainedscrewtoreinstallthe
HeadphoneJack.Tightensnugly.
Takethemaleheadphonejackfromtheneckand
plugittotheHeadPhoneJack.

Replacethebottombackplastic.Usinga#2
Phillipsscrewdriverinsertthe(6)screws,retained
fromearlierstep,intotheplasticandtightensnug.
Caution:Donotovertightenscrews.
STEP 9
Replacethetopbackplastic.Usinga#2Phillips
screwdriverinsertthe(8)screws,retainedfrom
earlierstep,intotheplastic.
Caution:Donotovertightenscrews.
STEP 10
Checkthecapwiththeneckandgrommet.Make
surethecapisflushwiththetopbackplastic.
Adjustifnecessary.Usethescrewdriverto
tightenthescrewssnugfromthepreviousstep.
Caution:Donotovertightenscrews.
STEP 11
NowthePVSisinstalledontheequipment.Connect
yourcoax.
ThiscompletestheinstallationofthePersonalViewingBracket.Nowitistimetoinstallthescreenanddothe
setup.TurntotheappropriatesectionforyourPersonalViewingScreenManual.

STEP 1. Adding the Power Supply (S-TRx Only)
Slide up the neck and rail gaskets.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws
under the neck and rail gaskets.
Remove the shroud.
STEP 2.
A
t the right side corner on the base frame (when on
the running surface), there are (2) M5-thread-
inserts. Then, install the power supply and secure
with (2) M5 screws.
STEP 4.
Install the (2) T-Tap connectors (female) to the (2)
AC-MCB blue and brown wires:
•Locate one T-Tap connector on the blue wire
about 100mm from the side of quick-disconnect
connector as shown, and flip over to close the T-
Tap connector.
•Use a pair of pliers to crimp the T-Tap
connector. (When fully connected you will hear a
click).
•Do the same thing for the brown wire.

STEP 3.
Plug the 2-contact connector of the power supply
cable, which came with with the PVS kit, onto the
power supply, and connect each male connector to
the female T-tap connector, which was installed in
Step 4. Make sure brown wire is connected to
brown wire and blue to blue (See the right figure for
reference).
Plug the 4-contact connector of the DC power
cable onto the 4-contact connector on the board.

STEP 4.
Reinstall the shroud by reversion the step 1.
