Pre-Installation Checklist
The Espire Elbow Pro and Hybrid versions are fully
assembled and undergo electronic testing verification before
they are shipped.
What’s in the box:

New Elbow Setup
iPad Setup
1. Prepare for setup
To make setup as smooth as possible, have the following
items available:
• An Internet connection through a Wi-Fi network (you may
need the name and password of the network).
• Your Apple ID and password; if you don’t have an Apple ID,
you can create one during iPad setup.
Note: If your iPad is deployed or managed by a company, school, or
other organisation, see an administrator for setup instructions.
2. Download Espire Hub App
Download the Espire Hub App from the App
Store. The Espire Hub App is compatible
with iPad and iOS only. It is not compatible
with other devices.
3. Contact Steeper Group Customer Service
for an Espire Hub App login
To obtain a password, you must provide a valid email
address. You will receive an email with a link to the Espire
Portal, where you can create a password. This email link
will remain active for twenty four hours after it is sent.
Note: If you do not receive an email within a few minutes,
check your junk mail folder.

Steeper Group’s regular oce hours are Monday to Thursday,
8am - 4:30pm (GMT) and Friday, 8am - 4pm (GMT). Steeper
USA’s regular oce hours are Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm
(CST).

5. Enable Bluetooth on iPad
On iPad, go to Settings, then tap Bluetooth.
6. Log into Hub App
Launch the Hub App and log in.

Note: It is strongly recommended that you set up the iPad and verify Espire Elbow function prior to
your patient’s appointment.

7. Temporary assembly to
test functionality
Connect the input accessory wires
to the input connector board on the
top of the Espire Elbow. Connect the
output wires to the terminal devices.
The wires will be labeled for easy
identification and any unused plugs
on the input board will be covered.
8. Install battery
Insert the battery into the elbow, ensuring that the pull tab is
accessible for future removal. Then, apply the battery cover.
The battery cover clip will “click” into place when seated.
9. Power on Espire Elbow
Feature Description
Power Button Press and hold for 4 seconds to turn Espire ON or OFF
Note: For detailed assembly information, refer to the
Espire Elbow Technical Manual - Pro and Hybrid.
10. Pair Espire Elbow to iPad
When the Espire Elbow is powered on, it will automatically
send a Bluetooth signal for 2 minutes. Press the search
button on the Hub App to begin pairing.
Note: iPad must be within about 10 metres/33 feet of
the Espire Elbow.
11. Verify configuration reflects correct setup
Note: If the configuration on the home screen or
connections screen is incorrect, contact Steeper
Customer Services.
Home Screen
Once the device is connected, you wil land on the Home
Screen. The right side of the screen will display the
configured devices. These are setup by Steeper Group prior
to shipment, based on the information given during the order
process.

Connections Screen
Select the icon in the upper right of the home screen to open
the System Settings menu, then tap Connections.
The Connections screen displays an image of the Espire
Elbow’s input connector board. Here you can verify that the
inputs have been installed correctly.
12. Congratulations!
The Espire is ready for patient fitting. Remember to charge
both batteries fully before delivering the prosthesis.
