1. Installation of the Interface Option
WARNING
Electrical shock hazard
Before opening the housing, disconnect the AMU-II transmitter
from the power supply.
CAUTION
Observe precautions for handling electrostatic discharge
sensitive devices.

To install an interface option, proceed as follows:
1Switch power off.
2Loosen the four screws at the back of the AMU-II transmitter and
remove the backplate.
3Pull the mainboard [B] completely out of the housing.
4Plug the interface option onto the pins [D] on the mainboard.
5Reinsert the mainboard into the housing, making sure to insert
both boards into the correct guide grooves.
6Carefully press the mainboard [B] against the display board [C]
until it snaps into place.

7Remove the cover [F] from the connector field.
8Apply the supplied sticker [G], [H] or [I] to the connector field.
9Reinstall the backplate [E] onto the housing.

2. USB Option
Menu item After the USB option has been installed, the <Operation>/<Eject
USB Stick> menu item becomes visible.
Calling up this menu item performs the following actions:
the calibration history and the event history are copied to the
USB stick,
the logger file is completed (the next time the USB stick is inserted,
a new file will be created),
the USB stick is deactivated and can be removed.
Pushbutton Pressing the pushbutton [J] has the same effect as calling up the
<Eject USB Stick> menu item.
Blue LED The blue LED is on if the USB stick is plugged in and ready to
record data.
The blue LED is off when the USB stick has been deactivated and is
ready to be removed.

2.1. Firmware Upload
Only Swan trained and authorized personnel should perform the
tasks described in this section.
Note: This method updates the AMU-II transmitter firmware with
all files with the extension *.a37 and *.hex that are present in the
root directory of the USB stick.
Preparations Since all data and settings are deleted during the firmware upload,
perform the following steps beforehand:
1Write down all customer-specific firmware settings (parameters
for instrument operation, configuration of signal outputs and re-
lays etc.).
2Download logger, message list and cal. history.
Start upload 1 Copy all files you need (“aout.a37”; “.hex) to the root directory of
the USB stick.
2Insert the USB stick into the USB socket of the transmitter.
3Navigate to <Installation>/<Miscellaneous>/<Load Firmware>.
Press [Enter] and select “yes”.
 The firmware upload starts. After the upload has been
finished, the AMU-II transmitter restarts.
4Navigate to <Installation>/<Miscellaneous>/<Set defaults>,
press [Enter] and select “completely”.
5Press [Enter], [Exit] and confirm with “yes”.
 The AMU-II transmitter restarts and all settings are set to
factory defaults.
6Enter the customer-specific settings according to the notes
taken.

3. RS485 Option
Menu items After the RS485 option has been installed, the <Interface> menu
item becomes visible in the <Installation> menu. Select Modbus RTU
or Profibus as protocol. After that, further settings of the selected
protocol become visible.

position marked “Ron” to activate the terminating resistor.
