Maintenance
Warning
1. In order to reduce t e risk of fire and electrical s ock, do not lay t is product in rain or
damp places.
2. Please keep away from t e strong magnetic field; it may cause t e noise of t e video and audio
signals.
The power
1. Please use t e power adapter provided or recommended by t e manufacturer in order to
avoid damage.
2. For a t ird party power adapter, please make sure t e voltage range, supplied power,
and polarity of power lead are fit.
3. Please disconnect t e power cable under t e following situations:
(A). If you do not operate t is monitor for a period of time;
(B). If t e power cable or power adaptor is damaged;
(C). If t e monitor ousing is broken.
The monitor
1. Please don't touc t e screen wit your fingers, w ic would probably deface t e screen.
2. Please don't press t e screen; t e LCD is extremely exquisite and flimsy.
3. Please don't lay t is product on unstable place.
Cleaning
1. Please clean t e screen wit dry and downy clot or special LCD cleanser.
2. Please do not press ard w en cleaning t e screen.
3. Please do not use water or ot er c emical cleanser to clean t e screen. T e c emical

Introduction
S-1173H adopts TFT LCD panel, wit resolution 1920×1080 and wide viewing angle H160°⁄V160°.
It supports 2 x 3GSDI (Level A/B), 1 x HDMI, 1 x CVBS, 1 x Y/Pb/Pr, 1 x VGA and 1 x analog audio
input. It also supports 2 x 3GSDI, 1 x HDMI, 1 x CVBS and 1 x analog audio loop t roug output.

Installation
1. Take off t e rub cover on t e rear panel; see Fig (1).
2. Insert t e DC cable of S-7004S/A into t e ole, and plug onto t e power socket inside t e ole;
see Fig (2).
3. Fix t e battery plate onto t e rear panel by t e supplied screws; see Fig (3).

Installation
1. Clockwise to fix t e brackets onto t e left and rig t sides of S-1173H
monitor wit t e supplied screws;
2. Install t e monitor wit brackets onto t e 19-inc rack, see Fig (3).

Operation Instructions
·Front Panel
(1) Desktop Stand Feet
(2) Speaker: For SDI/HDMI embedded audio and analog audio monitoring. (Will not work if earp one
is plugged in)
(3) Illuminated Pus Button
SD I1: Press “SDI1” to switc to SDI input 1
SDI2: Press “SDI2” to switc to SDI input 2
HDMI: Press “HDMI” to switc to HDMI input
ANALOG: Press “ANALOG” to select from CVBS, VGA, Y/ Pb / Pr signal

F5: User definable function keys; please see details in “4.Function Key” under “Main Menu”.
For example: Set F1 as “Histogram”, press F1 to open Histogram function and press again to close
t is function.
DISPLAY: Press “DISPLAY” to turn on or turn off relevant status information, audio and video
waveform.
Press “DISPLAY” to release one key quit t e menu w en Menu is opened.
(4) Rotary Knob
MENU/ENTER: W en t e menu is inactivated, press “MENU/ENTE” to turn on t e main menu
Revolve “MENU/ENTER” to adjust settings or parameters, and press to apply
W en t e menu is inactivated, revolve “MENU/ENTER” to adjust t e sound volume
BRIGHT: 0-100 value adjustment and t e default value is 50
CONTRAST: 0-100 value adjustment and t e default value is 50
SATURATIO: 0-100 value adjustment and t e default value is 50

Timecode

Under SDI input, it can display Timecode. If no Timecode information is detected, it will be
displayed as “TC UNLOCKED”.
User can set function keys F1

UMD

AFD (SDI)
User can set function keys F1

F5 or GPI pins as “AFD” to turn on or off t is function. If no
relevant information is detected, it will be displayed as “AFD: UNLOCKED”.
Audi

Monitor t e audio information. T e relevant parameters like position, audio c annels and blending,
etc. can be c anged under “Audio Bar” submenu.
User can set function Keys F1

Introduction of audio and video functions
2-ch embedded audio meters
Under 3G/HD/SD-SDI, HDMI and ANALOG (CVBS, VGA, YPbPr), it displays 2 c annels
embedded audio meters. T e audio meter is green, and will turn yellow w en audio exceeds
-20dB, and turn red w en audio exceeds -9dB.
Audio alarm
If t e embedded audio value is too low or no embedded audio, it will display “MUTE” or
“UNLOCKED” in t e audio bar.

Under SDI input, it can display t e SMPTE time code (VITC1, VITC2 or LTC) on t e top of t e
screen, w ic is used extensively for sync ronization, and for logging and identifying material in
recorded media. If no Timecode information is detected, it will be displayed as “TC UNLOCKED”.
Internal Color Bar
Under SDI and HDMI input, it as 100% internal color bar w ic elps analyze t e monitor color
and adjust t e display parameter.

F5 or GPI pins as “color bar” to turn on or off t is function.
Peaking focus assist (red/blue switch)
T e Peaking focus assist function is to mark t e s arpest edges of t e image wit red or blue
color under SDI and HDMI input, for users to c eck if t e subjects are focused.
User can set function Keys F1

F5 or GPI pins as “Focus Assist” to turn on or off t is function.
Zebra stripes
Zebra Stripes are used to c eck if t e image is over exposed or not by s owing black and w ite
lines on t e monitor. It is considered over exposed w en luminance value exceeds 90%.
User can set function Keys F1

F5 or GPI pins as “Zebra” to turn on or off t is function.
Freeze Frame
T e freeze frame is to capture and display t e current broadcast frame.
User can set function Keys F1

F5 or GPI pins as “Freeze Frame” to turn on or off t is function.
R/G/B/Mono
R/G/B/Mono is to display only t e blue/red/green primary signal or t e luminance signal only so as
to monitor t e image noise.
User can set function Keys F1

F5 or GPI pins as “R/G/B/Mono” to turn on or off t is function.
False Color
T e false color is used to aid in t e setting of camera exposure. Under false color mode, t ere’s a
color c art on t e bottom of screen for reference. T e color from t e dark to t e brig t will be
displayed as blue, cyan, green, yellow, orange and red in a consecutive way. User can set
function Keys F1

It is t e abbreviation of active format description. AFD is to display t e SDI embedded AFD
information grap ically on t e screen.
H/V elay

Under SDI input, H/V Delay can be used to display line/field blanking signal, and to observe t e
orizontal and vertical sync ronous signal.
UM
W en using external control unit, it can display t e video source ID and tally information on t e
screen.

Main Menu
S-1173H as OSD to adjust t e parameters and settings, for example: Picture, color temp., function
keys, etc.
1. Press “MENU/ENTER” button, t e main menu will popup from t e left top of t e screen. T e
selected main menu ig lig ts in yellow.
2. Revolve “MENU/ENTER” to select submenu, t e selected submenu ig lig ts in yellow, press
“MENU/ENTER” to apply and enter into t e selected submenu’s items.
3. Revolve “MENU/ENTER” to select t e item w ic needed to adjust, press “MENU/ENTER”, t e
selected item and its parameters will be ig lig ted in yellow.
4. Revolve “MENU/ENTER” to c ange t e selected item’s parameter, press “MENU/ENTER” to apply
and save t e settings.
5 Revolve “MENU/ENTER” to select “Exit”, press “MENU/ENTER” to quit submenu. Select “Exit &
Status” under t e Main Menu and press to quit Main Menu.
Notice:
*
T e items in gray can not be set up.
*
If t ere is no operation under t e setted time, t e menu will automatically save settings and quit.
*
If t e key in abit function is turned on, except key in ibit function, all ot er items are in grey. Please
turn off t e key in ibit function to adjust t e items.

* Only “Color Temp” is set to “User”, t e Red/Blue/Green Gain or Red/Blue/Green Bias can be
adjusted.

*1 Function keys F1-F5 can be setted as t e down below functions:
Audio Bar, False Color, AFD, H/V Delay, R/G/B/Mono, Marker , Color Bar, UMD, Audio Alarm,
Focus Assist , Aspect Ratio, Scan Mode, Zoom Mode, Mute, Freeze Frame, Flip Mode, CVBS, YPbPr ,
VGA ,Color Temp, Time Code, Zebra.
For example: Set F3 to “R/G/B/Mono” under “Function key” submenu. User can press F3 on t e
front panel to adjust t e parameters of “R/G/B/Mono”, and t e “R/G/B/Mono” will c ange and follow t e
sequence: Blue Only →Red Only →Green Only →Mono →Off.
5. GPI
User can set GPI pins to relevant functions to turn on or off t is function.
*1 W en “GPI control” is set to “On”, t e monitor can be operated t roug external GPI control unit.
*2 T e GPI pins can be setted to t e down below functions:
Red Tally, Green Tally, Yellow Tally, Aspect Ratio, Scan Mode, Zoom Mode, Mute, Freeze Frame,
Flip Mode, Color Temp, Time code, Zebra, Audio Bar, False Color, AFD, H/V Delay, R/G/B/Mono,
Marker , Color Bar, UMD, Audio Alarm, Focus Assist.
W en connecting t e GPI pin wit ground, t e setted function will be turned on, and goes out w en
disconnecting.
Example 1: Under “GPI ” submenu, set “GPI control” to “On”, set “2 Pin” to “Red Tally”, w en t e
pin 2 of t e extenal GPI control unit is connected wit ground, t e Tally lig t on t e front panel will turn
red. W en disconnected, t e tally lig t will turn off.
Example 2: Under “GPI ” submenu, set “GPI control” to “On”, set “6 Pin” to “Scan Mode”, w en t e
pin 6 of t e extenal GPI control unit is connected wit ground, t e Scan mode will c ange and follow
t e sequence: “Normal” →”Overscan”→”Native” .

Support “TSL UMD Protocol-V4.0” provided by Television System LTD
Setup Source ID:
Select “Source ID”, revolve “MENU/ENTER” to select t e letters and press “MENU/ENTER" to
input. Max 8 letters are supported. Select “Exit” to quit and save settings, t e source ID will be
displayed on top or bottom of t e screen.
UMD setup:

Connect t e external control equipment wit S-1173H
⑵
Set “Display Type” to “UMD” under UMD submenu
⑶
Set “Serial Port” to RS485 or RS232 according to t e port
type of external control equipment
⑷
Make sure t e “address”, “Baud Rate”, “Parity” t e same
⑸
Adjust t e external control equipment and send UMD
command, t e UMD information will be display as t e rig t p oto.
User can set t e c aracter and color of t e UMD and t e color of
Tally1 and Tally2.

7. Marker
*1 W en “Fit Marker” is Off, t e size of safety area is benc marked against t e actual display screen,
accounting for 80% ~ 95% of actual display screen. W en “Fit Marker” is On, t e size of safety area is
benc marked against t e area inside t e scales marker, accounting for 80% ~ 95% of t e area inside
t e scales marker.
Example:
Aspect ratio: 4:3 Aspect ratio: 4:3
Safety Area: 85% Safety Area: 85%
Center Marker: On Center Marker: Off
Fit Marker: Off Fit Marker: On

8. Audio
*1 W en “Bar Frame” is set to “Off”, only t e audio meter will be displayed;
W en “Bar Frame” is set to “On”, frame and real-time audio value will be displayed.
*2 W en “Audio Alarm” is set to “On”, if no embedded audio is detected, t e audio bar will display
“UNLOCKED”. If t e audio value is too low, t e audio bar will display “MUTE”.
*3 Only under SDI signal, user can set t e output c annel as c annel 1 or c annel 2 according to
requirements.
In audio bar, t e left c annel information will be in green, and t e rig t c annel information will be
in red.

*1 Source Scan
W en set to “Yes”, after turn on t e monitor, t e signal will be inspected and follow t e sequence
of “SDI1→SDI2→HDMI→YPbPr→VGA→CVBS”.
For example: if c annel is selected to SDI2, SDI-IN2 as no input, and CVBS as input. W en
turn on t e monitor, after automatic inspection, SDI2 as no recognizable signal, and CVBS as
recognizable signal, t en t e input signal will be CVBS.
W en set to “No”, update model will not be supported.
*2 Logo
W en powered on, t e screen will display SWIT logo.
*3 Green Mode
W en no recognizable signal is detected and opreation time reac es t e time selected in “Idle
Duration”, t en t e monitor will turn to green energy saving mode t at is “Green mode”.
For example: Set t e “Green Mode” to “Standby” and “Idle Duration” to “2Hours”, if no
recognizable signal is detected for 2 ours, t e montor will turn to standby mode.
Under standby, Gray Backlig t, Blacklig t mode, press any button on t e front panel, t e monitor
will be back to normal operation status.
*4, *5 Update Driver/ Kernel

Download latest firmware files to USB disk, switc on t e monitor, and insert to t e USB port on
rear panel of t e monitor;
②
Press “MENU/ENTER”, enter “Main Menu” - “System”, and select “Update Driver” or “Update
Kernel”;
③
Set “Yes”, t e monitor will upgrade automatically;
④
During firmware upgrade, t e screen will display progress percentage. Please do not cut off power
during t e upgrade;
⑤
W en succeed, t e monitor will automatically re-start, and t en upgrade will be finis ed.

12. Key Inhibit
If t e “Key In ibit” is “On”, t ere is no response w en all t e buttons expert ” MENU/ENTER” are
pressed, t e sreen will be displayed as ” Key In ibit”.
User can set “Key In ibit” under “key In ibit” submenu to “Off” to recover t e functions of all
buttons.
