Connection to Internet and ChampionsNet
SILVERBALL, SILVERBALL PRO,
SILVERBALL MAX and MAX FIRE
This document describes the settings that are possible for the machine to get a connection
to the internet and to activate the ChampionsNet. It is recommended that the hardware is
installed correct in the PC.
Following variants are possible (Part numbers in bracket)
•Internal analog modem (831800053, 831800057)
•Internal ISDN-card (831800051)
•LAN by dint of internal Network card (831800060)
•External GPRS-Modem (831800056)
•ADSL by dint of internal Network card (831800060)
•TDSL by dint of internal Network card (831800060)

1 Activate ChampionsNet and Internet
After connecting the new hardware switch on the terminal and go to the test mode. There
chose the item „ChampionsNet“ (picture 1).

Activate ChampionsNet by ticking the corresponding control box (picture 1). Answer the
following dialogue with “YES” if you also want to activate the browser and the E-Mail
program. After that the terminal starts from new automatically.

2 Set-up of the Connection
After the new start set up the connection by choosing the item „ChampionsNet“. Press
„Change“ in the section „Connection“ (picture 2).

The steps necessary to configure the connection depend on the type of hardware:

2.1 Internal Analogue Modem or Internal ISDN Card
Configuration takes the same for both types. Therefore the following data is needed:
•The dial-in number of your provider (ISP)
•Your user name at the ISP
•The password for your access

Ensure that the „Connection Type“ is set to „Modem“ in the menu „ChampionsNet“. Then
enter dial-in number, user name and your password (a second time to confirm it) into the
corresponding squares. Then press „Page 2...“ and make sure that all settings tie up with

Correct possible divergences and press „Apply“. Then press “back” and you get back to the
first page of the set-up of the connection where you press “Back” again.
Now the connection is established and you can check it by pressing „Test connection“.

2.2 External GPRS Modem
The settings for dial-in number, user name and password depend on the provider. They
give you the data (in this concrete example we used A1 in Austria).
Ensure that „External Modem“ is set in the section „Connection Type“ and fill in the data
under “Provider connection” (picture 5).

Press „GPRS/GSM“ to configure the GPRS Modem.

In addition to the data above you might also receive an „Init String“ from your provider.
Enter it in the section “Modem”. Moreover you have to enter the PIN of your SIM card,
which you also receive from your provider.

If „PIN set“ appears on the right the PIN has been entered correctly and you can leave the
menu by pressing „Back“ (picture 6).
Then press „Page 2...“ and ensure that all settings are according to picture 7:

Then press „Back“ to get back to the first page of the set-up of the connection. There press
“Back” again.
Now the connection is established and you can check it by pressing “Test connection”.

2.3 Local Area Network (LAN)

For a network connection you need no dialing parameters. Just choose „Network – Direct“
(picture 8) in the section „Connection Type“ and press „Page2...“.

Enter your net settings there. These settings depend on your net. Ask your network
administrator for the data necessary.
Press „Apply“ after having entered all data. Then press “Back” until you are back in the
menu “ChampionsNet”.

2.4 TDSL
For a TDSL connection you need a dial-in number, a user name and a password. You
receive all this data from your provider. Enter the data in the section “Provider connection”
and set „Network – PPPOE“ in the section „Connection Type“ (picture 10).

Then press „Page 2...“ and enter the network settings (picture 11). If the connection does
not work with these settings please contact your internet provider.

2.5 ADSL
For an ADSL connection you need a dial-in number, a user name and a password. You
receive it from your internet provider. Enter the data in the section “Provider connection”
and set „Network – VPN“ in the section „Connection Type“ (picture 12).

Then press „Page 2...“ and enter the network settings. The example below is only valid in
Austria and does not work in your case. You receive the data you need from your internet
provider (picture 13).

3 Registration at the ChampionsNet Server
To make use of the advantages of the ChampionsNet you have to register at the
ChampionsNet server. For that you have to enter the name of your pub and its address.
Press „Change“ in the section “Machine/Set-up site“ (picture 14).

Enter your data by pressing the button „Change“ next to the field. The first 3 fields are
obligatory, the other ones optional. Then go back to the ChampionsNet main menu by
pressing “Back” (picture 15).

Press „Register...“ (picture 16).

Press “New registration” if you register the terminal for the first time for the ChampionsNet.
Your set of data is now being sent to the server. After finishing successfully your terminal is
registered in the ChampionsNet and you can leave the test mode.

Router
ISDN/DSL
4 Possibilities
4.1 Router
With a router several PCs can be connected to
a data telecommunication (e.g. an ADSL connection).
Therefore you have to install a network card in the
PC and set up a local network (see 2.3). Then the PCs
are connected to the router, and the router is connected to the
data telecommunication. Since the router is in charge of the
dial now it has to know the dial data.
Please find the steps necessary to configure your router in
its instructions.
4.2 HUB
To connect several PCs to a network you need a HUB. A HUB is a junction where the
cables of several PCs come together. HUBs exist in various sizes, above all for 4, 8 or 16
PCs. In addition there is a connection to create a “tree structure”. A HUB needs no
configuration.
