1. INTRODUCTION
These instructions describe the use of Fiber Optic
Cleaver 1871696--1, shown above.
The cleaver can be used for LightCrimp* Plus, MT--RJ
Jack, CORELINK*, and Fusion Splice applications.
Fibers may be cleaved using a hand--held (preferred)
method, or a table--top (alternate) method.
2. OPERATION
2.1. Hand- Held Operation (Preferred Method)
2. Press down on the button and slide

1. Open the fiber clamp.
3. Move the fiber slide back until it stops.
4. Clean the stripped fiber with a solution
of greater than 91% ISO alcohol. (99% ISO
alcohol is recommended.)
5. Place the stripped and cleaned fiber
into the slot at the desired cleave length.

6. While maintaining firm pressure on the buffer,
move the fiber slide forward until it stops.
7. Close the fiber clamp.
8. Slide the carriage forward (in the
direction shown).
9. Lift the fiber clamp.
Do NOT touch the button while sliding the carriage.
11. Remove the fiber, which is now cleaved
to the proper length.
12. Remove and properly dispose of the
scrap
f
iber.
10. Move the fiber slide back.
2.2. Table- Top Operation (Alternate Method)
1. Place the cleaver onto a flat surface.

5. Clean the stripped fiber with a solution
of greater than 91% ISO alcohol. (99%
alcohol solution is recommended.)
2. Open the fiber clamp.
3. Press down on the button and slide the
carriage back (in the direction shown).
4. Move the fiber slide back until it stops.
9. Slide the carriage forward (in the
direction shown).
6. Place the stripped and cleaned fiber
into the slot at the desired cleave length.
7. While maintaining firm pressure on the buffer,
move the fiber slide forward until it stops.
8. Close the fiber clamp.

12. Remove the fiber, which is now
cleaved to the proper length.
Do NOT touch the button while sliding the carriage.
10. Lift the fiber clamp.
11. Move the fiber slide back.
13. Remove and properly dispose of the
scrap fiber.
