IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Windows Operating Systems And Windows Media Players (WMPs)
TherehavebeenmanyversionsofWindowsOperatingSystemsandtheirassociatedMediaPlayersovertheyears.Inmostcasesthedefault
MediaPlayersthatshippedwiththeOperatingsystemshavebeenupgraded.Hereareourrecommendations:
THIS PLAYER WILL ONLY OPERATE WITH WINDOWS XP SP1 AND ABOVE, WINDOWS VISTA, AND THE UPCOMING WINDOWS 7.
Windows Vista: ThedefaultplayerisWMP11-therearenoissues.
Windows XP: WinXPoriginallyshippedwithWMP9.ManyusersupgradedtoWMP10.
NotallusershaveinstalledWMP11whichisthelatestversion.
This player is optimised to interface with WMP11.
WindowsXPwillsupportMP11ifServicePack2(SP2)isinstalled.Tondoutifyourver-
sionisSP2:ClickSTART.RightclickintheStartMenuandthenclickonthe‘Properties’tab
whichopens.Refertotheimageattheright.
If you do not have SP2/3 use WMP 10 (or preferably install SP2 or 3 and WMP 11) .

WMP11hasseveralenhancementsoverWMP10especiallywhensynchronisingmusicles(andinparticularDDMContent-ProtectedFiles).

Getting Started
Before using the player you should charge the battery
• Makesuretheplayerisswitchedo.
• ConnectthesuppliedUSBcabletotheplayer
• PlugthecableintoafreeUSBportonthePC.
• Ifconnectionissuccessfulyouwillseetheplayerscreenontheright.
• Youshouldleavetheplayerbatterytochargeforatleastsixhours.
Whiletheplayerischargingyoucanuploadlesdirectlytotheplayerandsynchroniseyour
musicviaWindowsMediaPlayer10or11.Toviewvideolesontheplayeryouwillneedto
convertthemtoasuitableformat.See Page 13-15 for details
DO NOT operate the player controls when it is connected to the PC!!
RESETTING THE PLAYER
WhentheplayerisconnectedtoaPC,thereisafaintpossibilitythatanelectrostatic
dischargemaycausetheplayertofreezeandthescreentoblankout.Intheeventofthis
happeningitwillbenecessarytoperformthisresetprocedure.
• DisconnecttheplayerfromthePC(Refer to Page 15).
• LocatetheRESETholeontheplayer
• Placeasmallpieceofwire(theendofapaperclip)intotheholeandpressgently.
• Thiswillresettheplayerwhichwillnowworknormally.

• For best results connect the PC to the Internet
• Start Windows Media Player 11
WMP11willdetecttheplayerasanMTPdevice
You can choose to select all the les automatically or manually
At the right there will appear (at rst connecton) a box asking if you want to update the player clock. If you select
yes and you have any protected music with a time limited licence that has expired, the music will not be playable.
Make your selections and click NEXT to proceed.

The player is divided into two
panes.

dragthemtotherightpane.
Youcandragacompletealbumor
selectedtracks.
IfthereareDRMlestheplayerwill
locateanddownloadthelicence.
Iftheplayercannotndthelicence
itmaydownloadthelicencefrom
thesupplyingwebsiteorprompt
youtondthelicense.
Ifnovalidlicenseisavailablethe
lewillnotbesynchronised.
When all the les have been trans-
ferred: Click‘STARTSYNC’

The les will now be uploaded and
synchronised to the MP3 player.

After the process has ended:
A message appears in the Right
pane asking you if you want to Sync
more les or disconnect the player.
You can now disconnect the player
and close WMP 11.
NOTE: It is possible that on rare oc-
casions WMP will not synchronise
an apparently playable le. If this
happens manually uploading the
le may prove successful.

Auto Synchronising Playlists
You can make up a personal-
ised playlist in WMP 11 and
sync it to the player:

2: Clickon“SetUpSync”
3: Tickthe“AutoSync”box
4: Selecttheplaylist/s
5:Add/removetheplaylist/s
6:Click“Finish”
The selected playlists will be
added to the player.
When synchronising has
ended you can disconnect the
player from the PC if you wish.

plyingwebsite.Ifnot,whenyoutrytodownloadtheletoyourplayer,WMPamessagewillappearintheoperatingwindow
askingyoutodownloadthelicensefromthemusicpublisher.

A. Connect the player to the PC.
B. Open Windows Media Player 10
C. Navigate to the folder where your
DRM les are stored
D. Select the desired WMA music
together with the DRM license

D. With the right button of the mouse, select “Add to Sync List”
E. A new window will open. In this window choose the “Sync”
option.
F. Select the desired WMA music together with the DRM license
E. In the “Sync” window, navigate to the
desired WMA music with DRM as step B
and select the player
F: Click “Start Sync” to start synchronising
the les to the player.

G. Allow the les to nish loading

Player File Structure
Click the Player Icon Click “Removeable Storage” Click“Music” Click a Folder
When you
connect to the
PC for the rst
time
After
synchronisation
If you like you can click
on the le and play it
on your PC using your
default Media Player.
Your music is contained in the folder called “Music” and organised by artist name. If the artist has
recorded several albums those albums will appear in the Artist Folder.
The songs are contained in the individual Album folder
“Albums”, “Playlists” and “WMP info” are for player use only.
The Artists and albums are identied by WMP 11 automatically .
DO NOT alter the contents or rename these folders except to add lyrics to the songs (See Page 28).
If you wish to delete any song from the “Music” folder do it via WMP only - see Page 51-52.

• In“MyComputer”,navigatetotheMP3player
• DoubleClickontheplayericontoopentheplayerfolder
• Create four new folders and rename them for easy access:
– Picture les shouldbeuploadedtothe“MyPictures”folder
– Video recordingsshouldbestoredinthe“MyVideos”folder*
– Textsande-booksshouldbestoredinthe“MyTexts”folder
– Any music you directly upload shouldbestoredin“OtherMusic”
– When you record a Voice message or record from the radio: the
playerwillautomaticallygenerateandstorethelesinafolder
calledRECORD.
– If you wish you can create a folder (say holiday) which contains
dierent le types for ready reference.

individuallestothedriveareaasthismakesbrowsingverydicult
*Video les have to be converted before the player will play them.
ESTABLISHING AN ORDERLY FILE STRUCTURE
Transferring Other Files
These are the Sync Files and folders
set up by Windows Media Player
Create these folders and rename
them for easy recognition
The player creates this when you record
A separate folder to store different le types
NEVER drag individual les directly to this area (The ROOT folder)
After uploading and charging the battery you can disconnect the player - the player supports “hot swapping”

ConvertingVideo Files
NOTE: Only les that are supported by your installed
version of Windows Media Player can be converted. If
you cannot play the le in WMP you will not be able
to convert it. Some les may need special codecs to
be viewed in WMP and converted to the AMV format
for use with your player
The Help le in the Convert tool contains a full list of
le types suitable for conversion.
• Insertthe software CD into the CD Rom drive.
• In“MyComputer”,navigatetotheCDDrive.
• DoublecicktheCDicon.
• ClicktheVideoConverterbuttononthesplash
screen.
• Followthescreenpromptstocompletethe
installationoftheconversiontool.
• GotoStart > Programs > MP3 Player Utilities
• DoubleClicktheAMV Convert Tooliconto
launchtheprogram.
