This manual is furnished with each new model. It provides
necessary operation and maintenance instructions and parts
list. This machine will provide excellent service. However, the
best results will be obtained at minimum costs if:
Read this manual completely and understand the
machine before operating and servicing it.

OPERATION EN
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
This machine is intended for commercial use.
It is designed exclusively to burnish dry hard floors in an
indoor environment and is not constructed for any other
use. Use only recommended burnishing pads and
commercially available floor cleaners and waxes intended
for machine application.
All operators must read, understand and
practice the following safety precautions.
The following warning alert symbol and the “FOR SAFETY”
heading are used throughout this manual as indicated in their
description:
WARNING: To warn of hazards or unsafe practices
which could result in severe personal injury or death.
FOR SAFETY: To identify actions which must be followed
for safe operation of equipment.
Failure to follow these warnings may result in personal
injury, electrical shock, fire or explosion.
WARNING: Fire or Explosion Hazard:
–Do not use or pick up flammable materials.
–Do not use near flammable liquids, vapors or
combustible dusts.
–Batteries emit hydrogen gas. Keep machine away
from heat, sparks and open flame.
–When recharging battery, make sure area is well
ventilated.
This machine is not equipped with an explosion proof
motor. The electric motor will spark upon start up and
during operation which could cause a flash fire or
explosion if machine is used in an area where flammable
vapors/liquids or combustible dusts are present.
WARNING: Electrical Hazard:
–Do not charge battery with damaged power supply
cord. Regularly inspect cord for damage. Do not
modify plug.
If the charger supply cord is damaged or broken, it must
be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a
similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
–Disconnect battery cable and charger cord and
remove 30 amp fuse before servicing.
–Do not unplug charger plug by pulling on cord.
WARNING: Spinning brush. Keep hands away .
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not use
outdoors. Do not expose to rain/moisture. Store indoors.
BATTERY CHARGER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION:
Make sure power socket corresponds with charger plug
and voltage rating.
UK Market – The charger power supply cord plug is equipped
with a 5 amp fuse. If fuse replacement is required, it must be
replaced by a 5 amp fuse conforming to BS1362. Do not use
charger if fuse cover is missing.
FOR SAFETY:
1. Do not operate machine:
-Unless trained and authorized by a person
responsible for their safety.
-Unless operator manual is read and understood.
-Unless with mentally, physically and the sensory
capability of following machine instructions.
-In an area where flammable vapors/liquids or
combustible dusts are present.
-Outdoors.
-If not in proper operating condition.
-If batteries emit an unusual odor. Move machine to a
ventilated area and contact Customer Service
immediately.
-If batteries are leaking any substance. Avoid contact
with battery substance and contact Customer
Service immediately.
-If batteries become excessively hot. Disconnect
battery charger. Move machine to a ventilated area
and contact Customer Service immediately.
-Without dust collector container in place.
2. Before operating machine:
-Make sure all safety devices are in place and
operate properly.
-Wear non-slip shoes.
-Follow safety guidelines concerning wet floors.
-Follow mixing, handling and disposal instructions
on cleaner/wax containers.
3. When operating machine:
-Report machine damage or faulty operation
immediately.
-Keep children and unauthorized persons away.
-Do not operate on inclines.
4. Before leaving machine:
-Stop on level surface.
-Turn power switch off and remove key.
5. When servicing machine:
-Stop on level surface.
-Turn power switch off and remove key.
-Do not tilt machine back unless key is removed.
-All repairs must be performed by qualified service
person.
-Avoid moving parts. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewelry.
-Contact Service for battery replacement.
-Do not power spray or hose off machine. Electrical
malfunction may occur.
-Do not modify the machine from its original design.
6. When transporting machine:
-Turn power switch off and remove key.
-Use a mechanical lift or ramp when elevating
machine. Do not attempt to manually lift machine.
-Do not wheel up or down stairs.
-Use tie-down strap to secure machine when
transporting by vehicle.
-Do not roll on inclines when tilted back and resting
on rear caster.

OPERATION EN
INSTALLING BURNISHING PAD:
This machine has been designed to use specific burnishing
pads. Improper pads may affect machine performance and may
be unsafe.
NOTE: Select pads suitable for the speed of the machine and
the surface being burnished. Refer to the Recommended Pads
and Spare Part List page for a complete list of pads.
FOR SAFETY: Before installing pad, position machine on a
level surface and remove key.
1. Remove key. Fold handle down and carefully tilt machine
on rear caster as shown.
2. Using the pad retainer tool, remove retainer by turning
clockwise.
3. Center the burnishing pad on the pad driver and secure
pad with pad retainer by turning counter-clockwise.
4. Stand machine upright and return pad retainer tool.
OPERATING MACHINE:
ATTENTION: Never start the machine without a pad installed.
NOTE: Cleaning solutions are only recommended for stubborn
marks and should not be used for general cleaning. Select a
cleaning solution appropriate for the surface being cleaned. Refer to
manufacture instructions for proper use.
WARNING: Fire or Explosion Hazard: Do not use or
pick up flammable materials. Do not use near flammable
liquids, vapors or combustible dusts.
FOR SAFETY: When operating machine, wear non-slip
shoes.
1. Pull the handle adjustment lever and lower handle to a
comfortable operating height.
NOTE: For safety, the machine will not start until handle is
lowered to the operating position.
2. Turn the key switch to the on ( l ) position.
3. To start machine, depress one or both safety lock buttons
with thumb and squeeze the activation trigger. Release the
safety lock button after machine starts.
4. Operate machine in a forward and backward direction.
ATTENTION: Do not operate the machine in same spot for a
lengthy period. Floor damage may result.
5. Release the triggers to stop machine.

EN OPERATION
SPRAY BUFFING (OPTIONAL):
The optional spray system kit (p/n 836553) attaches to the
handle of the machine. The kit allows you to spray solution on
the floor using the pre-installed solution feed lever while
operating machine.
OPERATING THE OPTIONAL SPRAY SYSTEM KIT:
FOR SAFETY: When operating machine, wear non-slip
shoes.
1. Remove the spray bottle from the pump assembly by
turning it counter-clockwise (A).
2. Fill the bottle with cleaning solution.
WARNING: Fire or Explosion Hazard. Do not use or
pick up flammable materials.
FOR SAFETY: When using cleaning solutions, follow
mixing, handling and disposal instructions on cleaner/wax
containers.
3. Pump the plunger 10-15 times to build up spray pressure
(B).
4. Pull the solution feed lever to spray solution on floor (C).
Keep solution away from carpet, walls, electrical outlets,
plants and animals. Pump plunger if pressure weakens.
5. After each use, empty bottle of remaining solution and flush
out spray nozzle. The spray nozzle may clog if solution
remains in system for a lengthy period.
To remove spray nozzle (D), turn the black housing
counter-clockwise a quarter turn. Make sure the small
center pin is located in the end of the nozzle before
reinstalling spray nozzle.
AFTER OPERATING MACHINE:
1. Turn the key to the off (0) position.
FOR SAFETY: Before removing pad, position machine
on a level surface and remove key.
2. Clean or replace pad. Turn pad retainer clockwise to
remove pad.
3. Wipe the machine with a damp cloth.
4. Empty dust collector.
5. Check battery life indicator. If necessary, recharge the
batteries. Only recharge if in red zone.
6. Regularly inspect charger cord for damage or loose
connection.

RECHARGING BATTERIES:
WARNING: Fire or Explosion Hazard. Batteries emit
hydrogen gas. Keep sparks and open flame away. Make
sure area is well ventilated.
ATTENTION – To prolong battery life and to prevent possible
battery damage ONLY recharge the battery when the battery life
indicator is in the red zone (two lights remaining).
NOTE: When the discharge level reaches the last red LED an
internal controller will disable the machine.
1. Plug the battery charger cord into an electrical outlet. Make
sure power socket corresponds with charger plug and
voltage rating.
The charger is set for GEL batteries only.
Do not operate the machine when connected to
electrical outlet.
2. The battery charge indicator, located near right wheel, will
display the following:
Yellow LED = Initial charge taking place.
Green LED = Charger has switched to float charge and the
machine is ready for use.
The battery charger should remain connected to the outlet
until machine is needed.
Red LED: Battery or circuit error.
No LED: Mains or device fault.
It takes approximately 8 hours to fully charge the batteries.
SERVICE:
FOR SAFETY: When servicing machine, stop on level
surface and remove key.
WARNING: Electrical Hazard. Disconnect battery cable
and charger cord and remove 30 amp fuse before servicing.
ATTENTION – Repairs should only be performed by an
Authorized TENNANT service representative.
ATTENTION – Refer to the Troubleshooting section below if the
machine is not functioning properly. Contact a TENNANT
Authorized service representative if the problem persists or the
problem is not listed.
TRANSPORTING MACHINE:
FOR SAFETY: Before transporting machine, turn power
switch off and remove key.
FOR SAFETY – When transporting machine, use a
mechanical lift or ramp to elevate machine. Do not attempt
to manually lift machine.
FOR SAFETY: When transporting machine, do not wheel up
or down stairs or roll on inclines when tilted back and
resting on rear caster.
To prevent personal injury or machine damage, use a
mechanical lift or ramp to elevate the machine. Be sure the
machine is adequately supported and secured before lifting.
Do not lift the machine by the operating handle or outer cover.
Always lift the machine from the chassis.
When transporting machine by vehicle, use tie-down straps to
secure machine.
To wheel machine to work area, lock handle in the upright
position and carefully tilt machine on rear wheels.
ATTENTION – Maneuvering the machine over thresholds,
curbs, and similar obstacles can damage the machine. Carefully
pull the machine backwards over small obstacles.

EN OPERATION
STORING MACHINE:
Turn power switch off and remove key. Remove pad and clean
machine before storing. The machine must be stored in a dry
indoor area. For small storage spaces, fold handle downward
then carefully tilt machine back on rear caster as shown.
FOR SAFETY: Before tilting machine back, turn power
switch off and remove key.
FOR SAFETY: When transporting machine, do not roll on
inclines when tilted back and resting on rear caster or
wheel up or down stairs.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Cause Solution
No lights illuminated on battery charge
indicator. Power failure. Check power supply cord and plug.
Check the 5 amp fuse in power supply
cord (UK market).
Red LED on battery charge indicator is
illuminated. Blown 30 amp fuse. Charger not connected correctly. Replace fuse. Contact Customer Service.
Machine not working. Safety lock buttons need to be
depressed to unlock activation triggers.
Current overload fuse blown.
Batteries are discharged.
Defective batteries.
Refer to operating machine instructions.
Replace 30 amp fuse. *
Recharge batteries.
Replace batteries. Contact Customer
Service.
Machine wobbles or vibrates
excessively. Pad worn or damaged.
Pad not centered on drive disc.
Pad dirty.
Incorrect pad selection.
Replace pad.
Place pad in correct position.
Clean the pad.
Contact pad supplier.
* If the fuse blows repeatedly, the machine should be checked by an Authorized TENNANT service representative.
