Dear RECARO Sport plus Reha user,
To make handling of your new children car seat safe, practical, and comfortable for both you and your child, please read these instructions and the instructions enclosed
to the seat before use.
This manual is a supplement to the original RECARO assembly and usage instructions. Some aspects in handling the car seat have changed, due to the modification into
a Reha version. These changed aspects are described in this supplementary user manual.

General instructions
Please note:
The 5-point safety belt integrated in the seat is intended for the use in ECE group I (up to 18 kg / 39.7 lb) only. This requires that the seat must be secured with the
vehicle’s 3-point belt before.
Suitable for a body weight of up to 36 kg / 79.4 lb:
RECARO Sport HERO Reha has successfully passed an overload test at Dekra (Dresden) on the basis of the requirements of ECE R 44/04. Thus, the RECARO Sport HERO
Reha is approved for the use as “restraint system for special needs (“S”)”.
During the course of this test it was verified that the 5-point safety belt for children with a body weight of over 18 kg (39.7 lb) can be used as an additional positioning
belt. In this case, ALWAYS secure your child using the vehicle’s 3-point safety belt and observe the notes on correct installation contained in the original RECARO
Instructions for Installation and Use.
The 5-point positioning belt integrated into the child seat is NOT a safety-relevant item. In this case the child is restrained by the vehicle’s 3-point safety belt. The 5-point
safety belt is only intended for use as a positioning belt to provide additional support for children with a body weight of between 18 and 36 kg (39.7 and 79.4 lb).
To enable your child to use the RECARO Sport HERO Reha for the longest possible time, the 5-point safety belt system, including the guide rail, can be removed. When
removing the 5-point safety belt system please observe the notes contained in the original RECARO Instructions for Installation and Use. If it is also intended to use a
5-point positioning belt for larger children, we recommend the use of our belt extension (item code.: 824)
Purpose / indication
The children car seat RECARO Sport HERO Reha is designed for the transport of children with special needs in vehicles. The clinical pictures are amongst others:
• cerebral palsy
• hypotony syndrome of unspecific genesis
• muscular dystrophy
• different syndrome diseases
The car seat is characterized by its shell design and pad system, which provide for additional seating safety, stabilization of head and pelvis, and support / control of
the feet.
Thus, the RECARO Sport HERO Reha meets the needs of disabled children very well.
Application risks / contraindications
No application risks / contraindications are known.
5-point safety belt (group I)
Please note:
The 5-point safety belt is intended for the use in ECE group I (up to 18 kg / 39.7 lb) only. This requires that the children car seat is secured with the vehicle’s 3-point
belt before.
The 5-point safety belt is already fitted in the seat. For the rehab version it is equipped with an additional crotch pad. For more information on the use of belts please
consult the RECARO user manual provided with the seat.
Adjusting the belt length:
Slightly lift the lateral seat cover and release the fabric flap by opening the Velcro. Now you can see the central belt adjuster in the seat shell. To change the belt length,
press the lever down and adjust the belt by either pulling the strap coming out of the front of the seat (shortening) or by pulling out both shoulder belts (lengthening).
Belt buckle:
Press the red dent of the buckle to open. Separate the two upper belt fasteners. To close the belt, bring the two upper belt fasteners together, insert them into the buckle
from above and push together until they lock in place with an audible „Click“.
The cover for the crotch pad (zipper) can be removed and washed in the machine at up to 30° C / 86° F. Please undo the zip on the bottom crotch pad as well to remove
the cover.

Headrest
Pull the covers as tight as possible over the side parts of the headrest and attach them to the screws at the top.

Lateral trunk support
Attach the lateral trunk support by placing it on the seat. Guide both Velcro strips behind the back cover and Velcro-fasten them behind the cover.
The cover can be removed and washed in the machine at up to 30° C / 86° F.

Lateral seat support
The RECARO Sport HERO Reha is fitted with a seat reducer. The lateral seat supports are fitted to this seat reducer. To fit them, pull the lateral seat supports over each of
the side sections of the seat reducer. Then Velcro-fasten the lateral seat supports to the outside of the seat reducer.
The cover can be removed and machine-washed at up to 30°C/86°F.

Footrest adapter (accessory) item code: 866
Before assembly, clean the plastic surface on the underside of the seat with commercially available cleaning agents (e.g. water and rinsing agent) until it is completely
free from grease.
Now remove the Velcro strips (fleece) from the adapter plate and attach them to the underside of the seat. The Velcro strips (hooks) remain on the adapter plate.
Position the seat flush in a 90° angle at the front of the adapter (handle of the adapter facing forwards) and tilt the seat over to velcro it to the adapter.
Footrest: The footrest is attached to the adapter.

Push the footrest tubes into the front of the adapter. To do this, depress the catch springs on the footrest. Always secure the footrest against falling out using the knurled
nuts on the left tube of the footrest adapter. Multiple holes in the footrest tubes allow the footrest to be adjusted to match the depth of the vehicle’s seat.
To stabilize the footrest on the vehicle floor adjust the height of the support bars by screwing them in or out until they have contact with the vehicle. Then lock the
support bars with the hand knobs to prevent them unscrewing accidentally. Screw the hand knobs upwards as far as possible and tighten them fast.
Lower leg length:
The lower leg length is adjusted by changing the height of the footrest. Loosen both outer screws. Retighten them after each adjustment.
Foot angle:
Loosen the four screws left and right on the underside of the footrest to adjust the desired foot angle with the rails. Then retighten the screws.

The seat wedge is positioned centrically below the car seat. The high edge is at the front to achieve an optimum rest position of the child.
The cover can be removed (zipper) and washed in the machine at up to
30° C / 86° F.
Please note:
Function of the turning plate is considerably reduced if being used in combination with the seat wedge. We therefore do not recommend using seat wedge and turning
plate at the same time.

Table (accessory) item code: 811
Mount the side parts of the table first, by pulling them over the round corners of the seat. The side with the larger fabric must face outwards. Attach the fabric to the
wheels for the seat adjustment using the provided holes in the cover of the side parts. Then tuck the downwards overlaying fabric below the seat cover.
Now fasten the table to the Velcro straps of the side parts. Guide the belt around the back of the seat and fasten it to the Velcro (fleece) at the side of the table.
Note:
For reasons of space the crotch pad should be removed when using the table.
The cover can be removed and washed in the machine at up to 30° C / 86° F.
