Troubleshooting
Before You Call For Service. . . . . .
A quick check of the Operating Instructions in this manual may prevent an unnecessary
service call. Before calling your authorized ThyssenKrupp Access dealer for service, refer to
the following checklist . . .
If Lift Will Not Operate:
Check for obstructions in the path of the lift.
Check that the swivel seat is in the locked, riding position.
Check that the lift's power cord is plugged into the 115 VAC outlet or check for a blown
fuse or tripped circuit breaker at the main circuit box. Allow the batteries to recharge at
least 12 hours with unit on charge station.
If lift will still not operate, contact your local authorized dealer for immediate service. If your
lift needs servicing, use only original replacement parts and hardware to maintain quality and
performance.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential in keeping your Citia BOS in proper operating condition.
Please remember, you, as the owner of this equipment, are responsible for making sure
maintenance and upkeep is performed on a regularly scheduled basis.
We strongly urge you to protect your investment by having only an authorized ThyssenKrupp
Access dealer perform all required maintenance, service and repair work. They are trained
technicians, qualified to do the job.
To assure proper operating condition of your lift, the items listed below should be inspected
and/or serviced every six (6) months.
Tighten all fastening anchors.
Verify proper operation of the footrest obstruction sensor.
Lightly oil swivel seat mechanism with a household oil.
Lubricate the gear rack on the track with the lubricant provided with the lift.

Important Operating Notes
The following guidelines must be observed at all times in order to prevent
possible personal injury or damage to your stair lift or other property.
ThyssenKrupp Access hereby disclaims all liability (whether arising in contract,
tort, (including negligence or strict liability) or otherwise) for personal injury or
property damage arising from user's failure to observe the following guidelines:
WARNING! Unit is battery operated and may still move, even when un-
plugged from the wall.
•Do not exceed capacity of 300 pounds (136kg).
• Do not operate the lift outdoors. The lift is designed for indoor use only.
• Do not operate the lift with a child or pet in your lap. The lift is designed for one person only.
• Do not use an extension cord to supply power to your lift. The lift's power cord should be
connected directly to the power source.
• Do not allow weight on seat to be "off center".
• Do not allow children to play on the lift.
• Do not stand up on the lift while operating.
• Always use the seat belt.
• Do not operate the lift if it has been damaged in any manner.
• Do not attempt to service the lift yourself. Contact your local authorized ThyssenKrupp Access
dealer.
• Do complete and mail in your warranty card or register online at
www.tkaccess.com/register.
• Do show a family member and/or neighbor how to operate the lift in the event you would need
assistance.
• Do keep your lift and track clean and free of dirt.
• Do have your dealer perform general maintenance and lubrication on your lift to keep it looking
and operating like new.
• Do make sure the dealer has explained proper operation and maintenance procedures.
• Do keep the lift connected to AC power at all times to charge the batteries.

Operation and Description of Features
In order to avoid causing damage to your Citia BOS stair lift or other property and to
avoid personal injury, you must become familiar with the location and function of the
features included on your lift before using. It is particularly important that you
familiarize yourself with the safety devices described below.
Operating Control: A constant pressure pendant is provided on a hand-held control.
Pendant must be toggled to move the lift. The lift stops
any time the pendant is released. The lift automatically
stops at the ends of the track.
Wireless Remote Controls: One control is provided for
the top of the stairway and one for the bottom. To
operate, press and hold one of the buttons (one button
is up and one is down). When a button is pressed, the
lift will begin to move after a half second delay.
Folding Seat (optional): Seat folds up to provide more
stairway room when the lift is not in use. (A fixed seat is standard.)
5
Folding Footrest: The footrest can be folded up and out of the way when the lift
is not in use. The footrest must be in the down position when riding the lift. Sensors
are provided in the footrest to detect obstructions. When an obstruction is
encountered, the lift will stop. The obstruction must be removed to move the lift.
Swivel Seat: The swivel seat handle is provided on the side of the seat, allowing
the seat to be swiveled 70° at the upper and lower landings. To operate the swivel,
rotate the handle forward on the Excel model, down on the Standard and Select
models. Ensure that the swivel seat locks into position before sitting down. A safety
sensor on the swivel seat prohibits the lift from being used when the seat is not
locked in the riding position.
Safety Belt: Safety belt must be securely fastened around waist or chest before
operating the lift.
Final Limit Switch: In the unlikely event that the lift would over-travel its normal
stopping limit at the top end of the track, the final limit will stop the lift and render
all controls inoperable. A service call is necessary to put the lift back into service.
Battery Operation: The lift is operated from two 12 volt batteries. The lift should
be connected to AC power to charge the batteries at all times. If not, a beeper will
sound for 20 seconds and stop.
The lift must be parked at either the top or bottom end of the track for the batteries
to charge. If not, a beeper will sound for 20 seconds and stop (the beeper will start
sounding 20 seconds after the lift is used).
If the lift runs at half speed, battery capacity is 10% or less. This may have been
caused by the reasons above. Contact your authorized dealer for service.
