DK40 Configuration 1
This chapterexplainshowto configure a Strata DK40 system. Italso provides space to record
the hardware and station devices that make up the system.
Base Key Service Unit (KSU)
Station and Exchange Lines
The DK40 Base KSU can have up to eight digital telephone stations and four exchange lines
(Table 1-1). Instead of the exchange line PCB (TCOU), a two circuit ISDN BRI PCB (TBSU)
can be installed providing up to four B-channels set to NT or TE. An optional KSTU PCB
can be added to the Base KSU to provide four standard telephone circuits (ports).
Note An Expansion KSU can be added to the DK40 to increase the station capacity to 28,
and the exchange, tie lines, ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI), or Primary Rate
Interface (PRI) Circuits (TE) to 12.
Peripherals
The DK40 Base KSU can support a number of peripherals, which are not considered as
stations and do not affect the maximum station and exchange line capacities. The DK40 Base
KSU can interface with an amplifier and speaker for paging and night ringing, customer-
supplied Music-on-Hold (MOH) source, separate background music source, reserve power
batteries, and emergency standard telephone for system power failure occurrences (Table 1-
1).
A relay contact is also provided to control one of the following peripherals: MOH source,
night bell, or page amplifier mute control.

The optional DK40 Expansion KSU has four universal slots which can support Exchange, tie
lines or ISDN PRI and BRI (TE or NT) circuits, stations and option interface PCBs. PCBs
thatsupport linesand can be installed inthe expansion unit are the PCOU,RPTU,RBSU (TE),
PEMU, or PACU (see Table 1-2).
PCBs that support stations and can be installed in the expansion unit are the PDKU2, PEKU,
PSTU2, RSTU2, RBSU (NT) and RBSS (see Table 1-2). PCBs that can support optional
interfaces i.e. SMDR, a local or remote DK Admin Personal Computer and Door Lock
control are PIOU, PIOUS and PEPU (see Table 1-3). Placement of the above PCBs must
follow the configurations shown in Table 1-11.
The Stratagy DK voice mail provides 2~8 voice mail/auto attendant ports.
