PowerVerter Inverters give you access to AC power wherever and whenever you need it. They

Design
PowerVerter Ultra Compact's advanced design and production technology packs the power of
standard invertersinto a lighter,low-profile,metal case. Thisdesigneliminatestheneed forbulky
internal transformers.

LowBatteryProtection
You'll neverrunoutof batterypowerwithPowerVerterUltraCompactInverters.PowerVerter's Low
BatteryAlarmalertsyoutolowvoltageinyourvehicle'sbattery. ThePowerVertergivesyouadequate
timeto safelyshutdownyourconnectedequipmentand theinverterbeforerestartingyourvehicle's
engine to recharge your battery. If you're not present when the alarm sounds, PowerVerter will
automaticallyshutitself down,preservingyourbattery.

ACaution!
Proper cooling is essential when operating your PowerVerter. Provide adequate ventilation and
refrainfromplacingitemsonoraroundthePowerVerterduringoperation.Refrainfromplacingyour
PowerVerternear your vehicle's heating vent or in direct sunlight. Keep the case dry at all times.
Disconnect the PowerVerterwhen not in use.
ACaution!
The PowerVerter casewill gethot (130" - 140" F) afterlongperiods of continuoususe. Do notplace
thePowerVerternear surfacesor materialsthatwillbe effectedby this level of heat. Use carewhen
handling the case after extended use.

Turn OFFconnectedequipmentbeforestartingyour engine. DONOT plug a surgesuppressor,line
conditionerorUPS systemintothe
AC receptaclesof thePowerVerter. If you attachextensioncords
to the PowerVerter, use grounded, 14-gauge,3-wire cords, lessthan 100feet long.
ACaution!
CheckthewarninglabelsonbatterychargersoradaptersbeforeconnectingthemtoyourPowerVerter.
DO
NOT connect battery chargers or adapters with dangerous-voltagewarnings. Most battery
chargersandadapters,however, aresafeforconnection,aslongastheir labelsstatethattheirAC-to-
DC outputvoltageislow(30voltsorlower).

1) Illuminated ONIOFF Switch:
MovetheswitchtoON
("0") tosupplypowertoyourconnectedequipment.Thisswitchwillremain
illuminatedwhilethePowerVerterisinoperation.Movetheswitchto
OFF ("I") tostoppowertoyour
connected equipment.
2) AC Outlet(sk
Connect equipment to the PowerVerter's receptacles that are designed to run on 120VAC electric
power (computers, fax machines, televisions, etc.). Be sure equipment that is plugged into the
PowerVerter has a wattage draw
equal to or less than the maximum continuous output of the
PowerVerter (140watts maximum for the PV 140and 300 watts maximum for the PV 300).
3) DCFuse:
PV 140andPV 300 modelsboth featureoneDC fuse. The fuseprotectsthe PowerVerteragainstan
overload. If too much current is drawn from the AC outlets, or
in the event of a major electronic
failure,thefusewillblowtoprotectthePowerVerter'scircuitryandyourvehicle's battery. If thefuse
blows,unplugitandreplaceitwith astandardautomotivefuseof equalamperage.
Note:installing
non-ratedfuses could cause equipment damage orfailure and could void your warranty.
4) CigaretteLighter Plug:
Connectsdirectlyintoastandardautomotivecigarettelighterreceptacle. SimplyplugthePowerVerter
in to operate.
5) CoolingFan:
PV 300 featuresa fan to maintain internal cooling.

4.1 Operation Overview
ThePowerVerterUltraCompactInvertercanbeusedeitherwithyourvehicle'sengineoff orrunning.
Dependingontheamountof equipmentconnectedtothePowerVerter,atypicalvehiclebatterywill
provide2to3hoursof runtimeonaverage(oraslongas10hours under optimumconditions)before
needingtobe recharged.
Sincethe PowerVerter merely converts electricalenergy(anddoesnot produce it), thevoltageand
capacityitprovidesyourequipmentdependsonthevoltageandcapacityprovidedbyyourvehicle's
battery.
ThePowerVerterproducesaModifiedSineWavethatcloselymatchesthesinewaveproducedbythe
utilitycompanythat servesyourhousehold,makingitfarsuperiortootherinvertersonthemarket.
Thismakesit idealtopower appliancesand equipment you commonlyuseathome.
4.2 Step-By-Step Operation

4.3 Direct Connection Operation (PV 300 only)
Connecting the PV 300's cigarette lighter plug (as described above) will support most of your
equipment. However, if you plan on connectingmore than 240 watts to the PV 300, you
MUST
connect the inverter directly to the battery. To connect the PV 300 directly to the battery, first
purchaseaBattery Lead Adapter available
at most automotive stores. It consistsof a
cigarette lighter receptacle (that you plug
the PV 300 into) and two battery leads
(whichyou connect directly to the battery
terminals) (See diagram at right).

5.2 Maintenance
The PowerVerter requires no maintenance and contains no user-serviceable or replaceable parts
(exceptfor replaceableDC fuse)
5.3 Service

If returningyour PowerVerterto Tripp Lite, pleasefollowthisprocedure:
STEP 1: CarefullypackthePowerVerterusingthe ORIG INALPACKING MATERIAL thatcame
with the unit. Adequate packing isessential to ensure the inverter is not damaged in transit.

around time.
