This manual contains instructions and warnings that should be followed during the
installation, operation and storage of this product. Failure to heed these warnings may
affect the warranty.
UPS Location Warnings
• Install your UPS indoors, away from excess moisture or heat, conductive contaminants, dust or
direct sunlight.
• For best performance, keep the indoor temperature between 32º F and 104º F
(0º C and 40º C).
• Leave adequate space around all sides of the UPS for proper ventilation.
• Only set the UPS upright on a sturdy flat surface. Do not block fans or ventilation holes, as this will
seriously inhibit the unit's internal cooling and cause product damage not covered under warranty.
UPS Connection Warnings
• Connect your UPS directly to a properly grounded AC power outlet. Do not plug the UPS into itself;
this will damage the UPS.
• Do not modify the UPS plug, and do not use an adapter that would eliminate the UPS ground
connection.
• Do not use extension cords to connect the UPS to an AC outlet.
• If the UPS receives power from a motor-powered AC generator, the generator must provide clean,
filtered, computer-grade output.
• The mains socket outlet that supplies the UPS should be easily accessible and located near the
UPS.
Equipment Connection Warnings
Short Circuit backup protection and overcurrent protection is provided by the
building installation.
To reduce the risk of fire, connect only to a circuit provided branch circuit
overcurrent protection. The plug on the power supply cord is intended to serve
as the disconnect device. Be sure the socket-outlet is installed near the
equipment and is made easily accessible.
• Use of this equipment in life support applications where failure of this equipment can reasonably
be expected to cause the failure of the life support equipment or to significantly affect its safety or
effectiveness is not recommended.
• Do not connect surge protectors or extension cords to the output of your UPS. This might damage
the UPS and may affect the surge protector and UPS warranties.
• Connect the UPS to an outlet that is adequately protected against excess currents, short circuits
and earth faults as part of the building installation.

Battery Warnings
• Batteries can present a risk of electrical shock and burn from high short-circuit current. Observe
proper precautions. Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. Do not open the UPS or batteries.
Do not short or bridge the battery terminals with any object. Unplug and turn off the UPS before
performing battery replacement. Use tools with insulated handles. There are no user-serviceable
parts inside the UPS. Battery replacement should be performed only by authorized service
personnel using the same number and type of batteries (Sealed Lead-Acid).
The batteries are recyclable. Refer to your local codes for disposal requirements or visit
http://www.tripplite.com/support/recycling-program for recycling information. Tripp Lite offers a
complete line of UPS System Replacement Battery Cartridges (R.B.C.).Visit Tripp Lite on the
Web at http://www.tripplite.com/products/battery-finder/ to locate the specific replacement
battery for your UPS.
CAUTION: A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short-circuit
current. Contact with any part of a grounded battery can result in electrical shock.
The following precautions should be observed when working on batteries:
• Remove watches, rings or other metal objects.
• Use tools with insulated handles.
• Wear rubber gloves and boots.
• Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries.
• Disconnect the charging source and load prior to installing or maintaining the battery.
• Remove battery grounds during installation and maintenance to reduce likelihood of
shock.
• Remove the connection from ground if any part of the battery is determined to be
grounded.
• Unplug the UPS from the AC mains receptacle. Disconnect all cables, including the
equipment plugged into the UPS.
• Servicing of batteries should be performed or supervised by personnel knowledgeable
about batteries and required precautions.
• When replacing batteries, replace with the same type and number of batteries or battery
packs.
• CAUTION: Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries may explode.
• CAUTION: Do not open or mutilate batteries. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin
and eyes. It may be toxic.
UPS and Battery Recycling
Tripp Lite products use sealed lead-acid batteries, which are highly recyclable.
Call Tripp Lite at 1.773.869.1234 or visit www.tripplite.com/support/recycling-program for
more information on recycling the batteries or any other Tripp Lite product. Please refer to
local codes for disposal requirements.

STEP 1: Plug the UPS into a properly grounded outlet.
After plugging the UPS into a wall outlet, press and hold the power button until a beep is heard, then
release to turn on the UPS.
Note: The UPS will not turn on automatically in the presence of live utility power.

STEP 2: Plug your equipment into the UPS.
Outlets marked BATTERY & SURGE offer UPS battery backup support during power failures. Connect
your vital computer equipment into these outlets.
Your UPS is designed to support electronic equipment only. You will overload the UPS if the total
volt-amp (VA) ratings for all the equipment connected to the BATTERY/SURGE PROTECTED outlets
exceed the UPS output capacity. To find your equipment’s VA ratings, look on their nameplates. If the
equipment is listed in amps (A), multiply the number of amps by 230 to determine VA. For example:
1A × 230 = 230VA. If you suspect you have overloaded the outlets, check Load Meter screens (see
Display UPS/Power Conditions in Basic Operation).
Use the two included C14
to C13 cables to connect
equipment to the UPS.

Quick Installation
STEP 3: Turn on the UPS.
After connecting your equipment to the UPS, press and hold the power button until a beep is heard,
then release to turn on your UPS.
If the on-line AC power icon does not illuminate when the UPS is turned ON, try the following:
1. Make sure the UPS is plugged into a live AC outlet.
2. Press the power button to turn on the UPS. A beep should sound when the UPS starts.
3. If the UPS still does not start, contact Tripp Lite Tech Support for assistance.
Basic Operation
UPS ON/OFF
• Plug the UPS into a live, grounded outlet: The entire LCD screen will illuminate for 4 seconds,
then the display will report the output voltage of “0V”. BATTERY/SURGE PROTECTED outlets will be
OFF. The battery charger will engage as necessary.
• Plug equipment into the UPS: You will overload the UPS if the total volt-amp (VA) ratings for
all the equipment connected to the BATTERY/SURGE PROTECTED outlets exceed the UPS output
capacity. To find your equipment’s VA ratings, look on their nameplates. If the equipment is listed
in amps (A), multiply the number of amps by 230 to determine VA. For example: 1A × 230 =
230VA.
• Turn the UPS on: Press and hold the power button until the alarm sounds, then release. The
UPS alarm will beep for 2 seconds. The BATTERY/SURGE PROTECTED outlets will begin passing
AC line power. The UPS will automatically recharge internal batteries as needed. Once turned on,
your UPS is ready to protect connected equipment from blackouts, brownouts, overvoltages and
transient surges.
• Turn the UPS off: Press the power button.
Note: UPS system will function properly upon initial startup. However, maximum runtime for the unit’s
battery will only be accessible after it has been charged for 24 hours.

Display UPS/Power Conditions
On-Line AC Power Mode LCD Data
The LCD touchscreen offers five screens of UPS and site power information when the UPS is
operating in line-power mode. Screens 1-4 (Output Voltage, Input Voltage, Load %, Battery Charge
Level) are available for viewing in line-power mode. Press the front panel LCD to advance to the next
screen. Screen 5 (Overload) is displayed automatically only when the UPS is loaded to levels greater
than 110%.
The LCD screen reports that AVR (Auto Voltage Regulation) buck/boost circuits are active any time
the line power icon is flashing.

Battery Power Mode LCD Data
The LCD touchscreen offers five screens of UPS and site power information when the UPS is
operating in line-power mode. Screens 1-4 (Output Voltage, Input Voltage, Load %, Battery Charge
Level) are available for viewing in line-power mode. Press the front panel LCD to advance to the next
screen. Screen 5 (Overload) is displayed automatically only when the UPS is loaded to levels greater
than 110%.
Critical Fault Screens

F01 OUTPUT SHORT Disconnect load(s) from UPS outlets. Power off UPS and
contact Tripp Lite Technical Support for assistance.
F02 OVER LOAD Remove excess load, check load meter on LCD for load status.

Support for assistance.
F04 BATTERY LOW
VOLTAGE
Charge UPS for 24 hours. If problem persists, replace battery
and contact Tripp Lite Technical Support if problem persists.

Turn off power to the UPS and contact Tripp Lite Technical
Support for assistance.

1ON/OFF Button: When the UPS is OFF, press and hold the ON/OFF button until a beep is heard
to turn the UPS ON. When the UPS is ON, press and hold the ON/OFF button to turn the UPS
OFF.
2LCD Touchscreen Panel: Provide current status of the UPS. For a detailed description, refer to
“Display UPS/Power Conditions” in the Basic Operation section.
3Battery Backup/Surge Protected Outlets: These outlets offer battery backup support and
premium surge suppression for critical devices requiring battery backup support.
4USB Communication Port: This port can connect your UPS to any computer for automatic
saves and unattended shutdown in the event of a power failure. Use with Tripp Lite’s
PowerAlert®Software (available as a FREE download at www.tripplite.com) and the USB cable
included with your UPS. This connection is optional; your UPS will work properly without this
connection.
Note: This UPS System provides basic communication compatibility with most integrated Windows®,
Macintosh®and Linux®power management applications.

Features
Battery Replacement
Under normal conditions, the original battery in your UPS will last several years. Battery replacement
should only be performed by qualified personnel. Refer to “Battery Warnings” in the Important
Safety Instructions section for more information.
Models OMNIVSX850 and OMNIVSX850D require one 12V DC, 9Ah replacement battery.
Models OMNIVSX1000 and OMNIVSX1000D require one 12V DC, 9Ah replacement battery.
Models OMNIVSX1500 and OMNIVSX1500D require two 12V DC, 9Ah replacement batteries.
For further information about replacement compatibility and ordering, visit

Battery replacement must be done using the same battery type and
quantity: 12V DC sealed lead-acid, 6-cell and in compliance with UL 1989.
CAUTION: Risk of energy hazard. Before replacing batteries, remove conductive
jewelry such as chains, wristwatches and rings. High energy passing through
conductive materials may cause severe burns.
CAUTION: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of
used batteries according to instructions.
5AC Power Input: Plug in a C14 power cord (OMNIVSX850/1000/1500 models) or use the
included 1.5 m power cord with Schuko plug (OMNIVS850D/1000D/1500D models) to connect
the UPS to the mains power source.
6Resettable Input Circuit Breaker: Protects your electrical circuit from overcurrent draw
from the UPS load. If this breaker trips, remove some of the load, then reset by pressing it in.
Breaker is rated for 5A, 7A or 10A, 250V AC.
7Variable-Speed Cooling Fan (OMNIVSX1500 and OMNIVSX1500D models only): This fan
regulates the internal temperature of the UPS.

Storage and Service
Storage
To avoid battery drain, all connected equipment should be turned off and disconnected from the
UPS. Press the power button and disconnect the unit from AC power. Your UPS will be completely
turned off (deactivated), and will be ready for storage. If you plan on storing your UPS for an
extended period, fully recharge the UPS batteries every three months. Plug the UPS into a live AC
outlet, turn it on by pressing the power button and allow the batteries to recharge for 4 to 6 hours. If
you leave your UPS batteries discharged for a long period of time, they will suffer a permanent loss
of capacity.
Service
A variety of Extended Warranty and On-Site Service Programs are available from Tripp Lite. For more
information on service, visit www.tripplite.com/support.
Before returning your product for service, follow these steps:
1. Review the installation and operation procedures in this manual to ensure that the service
problem does not originate from a misreading of the instructions.
2. If the problem continues, do not contact or return the product to the dealer. Instead, visit www.
tripplite.com/support.
3. If the problem requires service, visit www.tripplite.com/support and click the Product Returns link.
From here you can request a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number, which is required
for service. This simple on-line form will ask for your unit’s model and serial numbers, along
with other general purchaser information. The RMA number, along with shipping instructions,
will be emailed to you. Any damages (direct, indirect, special or consequential) to the product
incurred during shipment to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center is not covered
under warranty. Products shipped to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center must
have transportation charges prepaid. Mark the RMA number on the outside of the package. If the
product is within its warranty period, enclose a copy of your sales receipt. Return the product for
service using an insured carrier to the address given to you when you request the RMA.

Regulatory Compliance Identification Numbers
For the purpose of regulatory compliance certifications and identification, your Tripp Lite product has been assigned a
unique series number. The series number can be found on the product nameplate label, along with all required approval
markings and information. When requesting compliance information for this product, always refer to the series number.
The series number should not be confused with the marking name or model number of the product.
EMC Specifications for Models with EMC Category C2 Approval (Select Models):
WARNING: This is a category C2 UPS product. In a residential environment, this product may cause radio interference, in
which case the user may be required to take additional measures.
WEEE Compliance Information for Tripp Lite Customers and Recyclers (European Union)
Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and implementing regulations, when
customers buy new electrical and electronic equipment from Tripp Lite they are entitled to:
• Send old equipment for recycling on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis
(this varies depending on the country)
• Send the new equipment back for recycling when this ultimately becomes waste

Advertencias de la Batería

Instalación rápida
PASO 3: Encienda el UPS.

2. Presione el botón de encendido para encender el UPS. Sonará un bip cuando el UPS arranque.
3. Si el UPS aún no arranca, póngase en contacto con Soporte Técnico de Tripp Lite para solicitar
apoyo.

ENCENDIDO Y APAGADO DEL UPS
• Enchufe el UPS en un tomacorriente activo conectado a tierra: Toda la pantalla LCD se
iluminará durante 4 segundos, después la pantalla informará el voltaje de salida de “0V”.
Los tomacorrientes PROTEGIDOS POR BATERÍA Y CONTRA SOBRETENSIONES se apagarán. El
cargador de la batería se activará según sea necesario.
• Enchufe el equipo en el UPS: Usted sobrecargará el UPS si el valor total en volt-amperes (VA)
para todo el equipo conectado a los tomacorrientes BATTERY / SURGE PROTECTED excede la
capacidad de salida del UPS. Para localizar los valores de VA de su equipo, consulte las placas de
identificación. Si el equipo está especificado en amperes (A), multiplique el número de amperes
por 230 para determinar VA. Por ejemplo: 1A × 230 = 230VA.
• Encienda el UPS: Presione y sostenga el botón de encendido hasta que la alarma suene,
entonces suéltelo. La alarma del UPS emitirá un pitido por 2 segundos. Los tomacorrientes
BATTERY / SURGE PROTECTED empezarán a pasar energía de la línea de CA. El UPS recargará
automáticamente las baterías internas según sea necesario. Una vez encendido, su UPS está
listo para proteger los equipos conectados contra apagones, caídas de voltaje, sobrevoltajes y
sobretensiones transientes.
• Apague el UPS: Presione el botón de alimentación.
Nota: El sistema UPS funcionará correctamente desde el arranque inicial. No obstante, la autonomía
máxima para la batería de la unidad sólo será accesible después de haberse cargado por 24 horas.

Datos del LCD de Modo de Alimentación de CA En Línea
La pantalla LCD táctil ofrece 5 pantallas de información de la energía del UPS y el sitio cuando el UPS
esté operando en modo de energía de línea. Pantallas 1 ~ 4 (Voltaje de Salida, Voltaje de Entrada,
% de Carga, Nivel de Carga de la Batería) están disponibles para visualización en modo de energía de
línea. Presione el LCD del panel frontal para avanzar a la pantalla siguiente. Pantalla 5 (Sobrecarga) se
muestra automáticamente solo cuando el UPS esté cargado a niveles superiores al 110%.
La pantalla del LCD informa que circuitos de reducción / elevación del AVR (Regulación Automática
de Voltaje) están activos en cualquier momento que destelle el icono de energía de línea .

Reemplazo de la Batería
Bajo condiciones normales, la batería original de su UPS durará varios años. El reemplazo de
la batería debe llevarse a cabo únicamente por personal calificado. Para información adicional,
refiérase a “Advertencias de la Batería” en las Instrucciones de Seguridad Importantes.
Los modelos OMNIVSX850 y OMNIVSX850D requieren una batería de reemplazo de 12V CD, 9Ah.
Los modelos OMNIVSX1000 y OMNIVSX1000D requieren una batería de reemplazo de 12V CD,
9Ah.
Los modelos OMNIVSX1500 y OMNIVSX1500D requieren de dos baterías de reemplazo de 12V CD,
9Ah.

El reemplazo de la batería debe hacerse usando el mismo tipo y
cantidad de baterías: 12V CD selladas de plomo ácido, 6 celdas y en conformidad
con UL 1989.
PRECAUCIÓN: Riesgo de energía. Antes de reemplazar las baterías, retírese
toda la joyería conductora tal como cadenas, relojes de pulsera y anillos. La alta
energía pasando a través de materiales conductores puede causar quemaduras
graves.
PRECAUCIÓN: Riesgo de explosión si reemplaza la batería por una del tipo
incorrecto. Deseche las baterías usadas de acuerdo a las instrucciones.
5Entrada de alimentación de CA: Conecte un cable de alimentación C14 (modelos
OMNIVSX850 / 1000 / 1500) o utilice el cable de alimentación de 1.5 m con Clavija Schuko
incluido (modelos OMNIVS850D / 1000D / 1500D) para conectar el UPS a la fuente de
alimentación de la red pública.

Breaker Restaurable del Circuito de Entrada: Protege su circuito eléctrico contra la
sobrecorriente originada en la carga del UPS. Si este breaker se dispara, retire algo de la carga y
entonces reestablézcalo oprimiéndolo. El breaker está clasificado para 5A, 7A o 10A, 250V CA.
7Ventilador de Enfriamiento de Velocidad Variable (solo modelos OMNIVSX1500 y
OMNIVSX1500D): Este ventilador regula la temperatura interna del UPS.
