Safety
Caution
Inhaling toxic gases and dusts can cause immediate poisoning damage. Long-term damage to internal
organs can also occur due to repeated inhalation, swallowing and contact with the dusts and gases
contained in the filter inserts and in the exhaust hose. Personal protective equipment must be worn
before doing any work on the inside of the Atmos, especially on the filter inserts and the exhaust hose.
This includes:
•Protective gloves (disposable polyethylene gloves, long version),
•Respirator mask (filtering face mask of protection level 3),
•Safety goggles.
2.6 Safety instructions for operating the Atmos
The Atmos may only be used if it is in a technically perfect condition, as intended, with safety and risk awareness and in
compliance with this operating manual! Any malfunctions, especially those that can impair safety, must be eliminated
immediately.
Any person who is tasked with the installation, startup, maintenance or troubleshooting of the Atmos must have read
and fully understood this operating manual before starting work – this applies especially the safety chapter. It is too late
to do this while working.
This applies particularly to personnel who are only occasionally assigned to working on the Atmos.
Before using the Atmos for the first time, any person who is tasked with working on the Atmos must confirm with their
signature that they have read and understood the operating manual.
Work on the Atmos may only be performed by reliable personnel. The legal minimum age must be observed.
Only use trained or instructed personnel.
Persons who are yet to be trained, instructed or are in the course of general training may only work on the Atmos under
the constant supervision of an experienced person.
The operating manual must always be readily available at the Atmos workstation.
No liability is accepted for damage and accidents caused by non-compliance with the operating manual.
The relevant accident prevention regulations must be observed as well as other general safety and occupational health
rules.
The responsibilities for the various activities in the context of operation, maintenance and servicing of the Atmos must
be clearly defined and complied with. This is the only way to avoid malpractice – especially in dangerous situations.
The operator must compel the operating and maintenance personnel to wear personal protective equipment. This
includes protective gloves (disposable polyethylene gloves), a respirator mask especially for changing the filter (filtering
face mask of protection level 3).
If any safety-relevant changes in the operational behavior or malfunctions of the Atmos occur, it must be shut down
immediately and the matter reported to the responsible office/person.
Keep first aid equipment (first aid kit, eye wash bottles, etc.) within easy reach.
The location and operation of fire extinguishers must be disclosed and the possibilities of fire alarms and firefighting
must be considered.
When inspecting, maintaining and repairing the Atmos and its safety devices, its imperative to pay attention to the
instructions relating to maintenance work in the chapter on maintenance.
