WHEN YOU SEE A “WARNING!” BE SURE TO HEED THE MESSAGE! THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THESE MESSAGES CAN
SAVE YOUR LIFE!!
You Must Stay
Connected While Using This
Product!
WARNING! Practice the use your full-body fall arrest harness at ground-level in the presence of a responsible adult to experience the feeling of hanging suspended
before using in a hunting environment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! Failure to follow the full-body fall arrest harness instructions could result in not being able to return to the stand and being suspended in a harness
after a fall. If your hunting location is unknown by anyone and communication efforts are unsuccessful, you must have a personal plan for self-recovery/escape
should you experience a fall. Prolonged suspension in a harness can be fatal. It is important to exercise the legs by pushing against the tree or doing other forms
of continuous leg exercises to avoid blood pooling while being suspended. Varying degrees of physical fitness may require different plans for self-recovery/
escape to avoid the effects of prolonged suspension. Have a personal plan and practice it in the presence of a responsible adult before leaving the ground. No
one escape/rescue plan will work for every hunter, on every tree, in every circumstance. Only you can determine the best self-recovery/escape plan for your
hunting situation and you must have a self-recovery/escape plan for your individual situation before leaving the ground. There is time to make a correct decision
on what action to take if a fall occurs while wearing a full-body fall arrest harness. It is important to remember, “DO NOT PANIC.” You must only hunt from the
ground when a suitable self-recovery/escape plan is absent. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
Several optional products/systems are available that offer self-recovery or self extraction from a fall when suspended in a harness. Some systems automatically
descend the user while others allow user control. One of these products/systems can be considered for use as an additional safety precaution against prolonged
suspension and suspension trauma. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions on the safe use of these products/systems.
WARNING! A suspension relief device must be on your person and readily accessible while using your full-body fall arrest harness. These devices allow the user
to relieve the load on the lower extremities if suspended in a harness and help maintain circulation in the legs, mitigate suspension trauma (blood pooling) or
allow descent to the ground. Be sure to follow the directions on the safe use of any suspension relief device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in
serious injury or death!
WARNING! If you have a limiting physical and/or health condition that precludes and/or renders you incapable of self-recovery and/or a suitable escape plan
is not available, DO NOT hunt from heights above ground-level. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! NEVER allow the full-body fall arrest harness lanyard to get under your chin and/or around your neck. This poses a
choking hazard that can lead to serious injury or death. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death
WARNING! Never attempt to climb up or climb down with a weapon and/or gear in your possession. ALWAYS unload your
weapon and pull it up to hunting height using a tether or pull-up (hoisting) rope. ALWAYS lower your unloaded weapon down
to the ground prior to attempting to climb down the tree (when raising or lowering firearms, the chamber must be open and
the barrel pointing toward the ground). Use this same method when raising or lowering all other gear. Failure to follow these
instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! DO NOT attempt to use this and/or any other True North Treestand Inc. product(s) when ice, snow and/or freezing
rain has deposited or formed on any portion of the tree you intend to climb. Failure to follow these instructions may result in
serious injury or death!
WARNING! ALWAYS maintain three-point contact when climbing up/down a tree when using climbing aids (e.g., stick ladders,
sectional ladders, steps, etc.). Proper three-point contact means having either two (2) feet with one (1) hand or one (1) foot
with two (2) hands on the step portion of the climbing aids at all times when climbing up or down. Failure to follow these
instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! DO NOT modify, fix/repair, alter, bend, cut, weld, drill or heat this product in any way. Failure to follow
these instructions will void warranty and may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! DO NOT lean out from a treestand for any reason. Never use your full-body fall arrest harness to help you lean
out of your treestand. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! DO NOT use this or any other True North Treestand Inc. product(s) if you have a history of heart problems, back
problems, impaired vision, joints that lock-up, spinal fusions, equilibrium problems, high blood pressure, are not well-
rested and/or any other physical impairment that may limit your ability to use and/or operate this product in the safe
manner outlined in this Instruction Manual. Additionally, do not use this or any other True North Treestand Inc. product(s) if
you are currently taking any medication (including prescription) and/or using and/or consuming any substance, including
alcohol, that may limit your ability to use this True North Treestand Inc. product as outlined and described in this Instruction
Manual. Never use a treestand when feeling ill, nauseous or dizzy. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! DO NOT attempt to use this or any other True North Treestand Inc. product(s) when thunderstorms are threatening and/or present within five (5) miles.
Do not attempt to use this or any other True North Treestand Inc. product(s) when any other adverse weather condition(s) presents itself. These include weather
conditions which have the potential for producing winds, lightning, rain, snow, sleet and/or any other atmospheric condition which may limit the user’s ability
to operate this True North Treestand Inc. product in a safe manner as described in this Instruction Manual. Should inclement weather conditions arise during your
use of this True North Treestand Inc. product, return to the ground immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury and death!

Figure 14
Threading Lineman Belt Buckle
A lineman belt has been included with your new True North Treestands Inc. to help insure your utmost safety while installing,
using, operating and/or removing your treestand. Your use of it as outlined here and elsewhere in this Instruction Manual is
crucial to its safe operation and the safe operation of your True North Treestands Inc. treestand.
When using hang-on style stands, it is necessary to use a full-body fall arrest harness lineman belt. These lineman belts keep
you safely attached to the tree while installing, using, operating and/or removing your hang-on style treestand.
WARNING! You must wear and properly use the full-body fall arrest lineman belt which is provided with this True North
Treestands Inc. treestand. Failure to follow these instructions will result in serious injury or death!
STEP 1: Locate the full-body fall arrest harness lineman belt (refer to Figure 1). Please note, the lineman belt is a two-piece
design. One side short, with a sewn-loop tag-end and buckle (“buckle strap”). The other side, a long strap with a tag-end and
sewn-loop end (“long strap”). With your full-body fall arrest harness donned as previously outlined in this Instruction Manual,
slip the sewn-loop end of the buckle strap through the lineman belt loop (refer to Figure 1) on either the left or right side of the
harness. If you are right handed, it is recommended you install the buckle strap on your right side. And vice versa if left-handed.
This allows for ease-of-adjustment when climbing.
STEP 2: With the buckle strap installed, repeat STEP 1 for the long strap side on the OPPOSITE lineman belt loop.
STEP 3: Make certain both sides are cinched down tightly to the lineman belt loops.
WARNING! Both sides of the lineman belt must be tightly cinched down to the lineman belt loops. Failure to do so will
cause slippage leading to an unsafe condition. Failure to follow these instructions will result in serious injury or death!
STEP 4: When ready to climb to your treestand installation height, wrap the long strap around the tree trunk, threading
it into the buckle strap as shown in Figure 14.
STEP 5: Adjust the lineman belt so it is a comfortable length while attached to the tree trunk by lengthening or shortening the tag-end of the long strap.

FULL-BODY HARNESS SYSTEM INSTRUCTIONS (SUSPENSION RELIEF DEVICE)
No one plans to fall from their treestand, however, falls can and do occur without warning. It is important to know what to do in the unlikely event
you experience a fall from an elevated hunting position. It is also very important that you practice your escape plan at ground-level prior to entering an
elevated hunting platform. There is time to make a correct decision on what action to take if a fall occurs while wearing a full-body fall arrest harness. It is
important not to panic. Remain calm and implement your practiced rescue, relief and recovery plan.
A Suspension Relief Device, or SRD, has been provided with this True North Treestands Inc. product. It is provided to help relieve the pressure on your lower
extremities in the unlikely event you experience a fall from an elevated hunting position.
WARNING! A suspension relief device must be on your person and readily accessible while using a full-body fall arrest harness. These devices will
allow you to relieve the load on the lower extremities if suspended in a full-body fall arrest harness and help maintain circulation in the legs and
mitigate (minimize) suspension trauma (blood pooling) or allow descent to the ground. Follow all instructions below regarding the provided SRD
(Suspension Relief Device) Failure to follow full-body fall arrest harness instructions could result in not being able to return to the stand and being
suspended in a full-body fall arrest harness after a fall. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious injury or death!
Suspension Relief Device (SRD) Operation

4Standing in Loop
3Ready for Use
2Adjust Loop
STEP 1: After a fall, take a moment to catch your breath and stay calm. Remain calm and do not panic.
STEP 2: Pull out the SRD strap located on the waist belt of your full-body fall arrest harness.
STEP 3: Adjust the SRD strap so you are able to step into the loop and then stand up, placing your weight in the standing loop and relieving the pressure on
your lower extremities. The loop size can be adjusted by moving the buckle up or down (refer to the Figure below for SRD operation).
STEP 4: If you are able to reach your ladder or climbing system, use it to get back into your secured treestand and then carefully climb down to ground-level.
If you are not able to reach your stand, remain calm and continue to stand in the SRD loop and use your personal locating device or cell phone to call for
help.
Important Note Regarding Self Extractors
Several optional products/systems are available that offer self-recovery or self-extraction from a fall when suspended in a full-body fall arrest harness.
Some systems automatically descend the user while others allow user control. One of these products/systems can be considered for use as an additional
safety precaution against prolonged suspension and suspension trauma. Be sure to follow the manufacturers’ directions on the safe use of these prod-
ucts/systems.

WARNING! Prior to installing your True North Treestands Inc. hang-on treestand, you must install aclimbing system (i.e., climbing
sticks, ladders, sectionals, etc.) which meets or exceeds industry standards recognized by the TMA. Failure to follow these instructions
may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! Prior to attempting to use this or any other True North Treestands Inc. product(s) you must take a moment and become
familiar with it’s setup and installation at ground-level. You must practice installing, setting-up, removing, and using this product at
ground-level prior to attempting to use it at heights above ground-level. Once you have become thoroughly knowledgeable and
comfortable with this True North Treestands Inc. product setup, installation, removal, and use at ground-level, you’re now ready to use
it at heights above ground-level. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
WARNING! STOP NOW! Make sureyou are wearing your full-body fall arrest harness and lineman belt as shown inFigure 23. Failure to
follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
NOTE: One very important note regarding the installation of your climbing system (i.e., climbing sticks, ladders, sectionals, etc.) which meets or exceeds
industry standards recognized by the TMA. You must install the climbing system so the steps extend a minimum of 24-inches [61 cm]) (refer to Figure
24) above your standing platform height. This practice insures you’re stepping off the top climbing stick down onto the standing platform. This practice
also insures you have a firm and secure hand-hold while stepping onto your treestand.
STEP 1:
NOTE: Installation
of this treestand requires two (2) adults.
Select a straight healthy tree, one devoid of dead branches with a minimum
diameter of 9-inches (23 cm) and onethat does not exceed 20-inches (51 cm) in diameter at installation height.
WARNING! Install your climbing system, which meets or exceeds industry standards recognized by the TMA, so they extend a minimum of
24-inches (61 cm) above the standing platform. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
NOTE: You will require two (2) adults for the installation of your Mentor treestand.

STEP 2: With your climbing system which meets or exceeds industry standards recognized by the TMA installed as outlined in the Manufacturer’s
Instruction Manual, you are now ready to install your True North Treestands Inc. treestand. Always maintain three points of contact when climbing
up/down climbing systems. Always use a pull-up rope to raise and lower any gear. Never climb with anything on your back.

WARNING! Never attempt to climb a tree with your treestand in hand or on your back. ALWAYS use a pull-up
(hoist) rope to raise any gear up to the desired installation height. Failure to follow these instructions may result
in serious injury or death!
WARNING! A hoist has been provided with your True North Treestands Inc. treestand. Its sole purpose is
lifting and lowering your treestand. DO NOT ATTEMPT to use this hoist for nay other purpose. Failure to
follow these instruction may lead to serious injury or death!
STEP 3: With a one (1) Quick Hitch Receiver, one (1) Quick Hitch Receiver Ratchet Strap, one (1) Upright Ratchet
Strap, and the Hoist in your possession (do not hold in hand), check to ensure your lineman belt is properly secured
to you and is attached to the tree, then carefully climb, using your linesman belt, to the desired installation height.
STEP 4: Once you reach the desired treestand installation height, re-check to ensure your lineman belt is properly
secured to you and the tree. Make certain you are balanced and securely standing on your climbing system.
STEP 5: While securely standing on your climbing system at your desired treestand installation height, and with your
lineman belt securing you to the tree, hook one (1) end of the Quick Hitch Receiver Ratchet Strap to the
Quick Hitch Receiver and pass the ratchet strap around the tree trunk. Once around the tree trunk, connect
the opposing hook to the Quick Hitch Receiver and ratchet the assembly tight as shown in Figure 25.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make certain the Quick Hitch Receiver is flush and square to the tree trunk with the
sharp cleats are biting into the tree trunk as shown in Figure 25. Make certain the ratchet strap is not
twisted or kinked. NOTE: The Quick Hitch Receiver MUST be installed flush and square on the tree trunk
or the treestand assembly will not install plumb and square (i.e., level). The wide portion of the receiver
MUST BE FACING UPWARD as shown in Figure 25 (for ratchet threading instructions refer to Figure 26).
IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE
YOU MUST have at least two (2) wraps (turns) of webbing around theratchet spool (barrel) to ensure
good purchase (engagement) of the ratchet strap to the tree. DO NOT install this product on trees which
exceed the receiver’s maximum diameter capacity of 20-inches (51 cm). Likewise, NEVER attempt to install
your treestand/receiver on a tree whose diameter does not meet the minimum installation diameter of
9” (23 cm). DO NOT attempt to install on any tree outside of the minimum and maximum tree
installation diameters of 9-inches (23 cm) to 20-inches (51 cm).
STEP 6: While at treestand installation height, install the Hoist bracket and pulley system as shown in
Figure 27. Make certain the Hoist bracket is oriented directly over the previously installed Quick Hitch
Receiver and is square and firmly seated on the tree trunk (for ratchet threading instructions refer to
Figure 26). The pulley must be installed a minimum of 30-inches (61 cm) above the previously installed
Quick Hitch Receiver as shown in Figure 28 as this distance is needed when hoisting the treestand into
place. If this minimum distance is not achieved, you will not be able to install your treestand in the
most efficient and safest manner. Additionally, make certain there are no twists in the ratchet strap.

STEP 7: Attach your hoist (refer to Figure 15)
rope to the True North Treestands Inc. hang-on
treestand as shown in Figure 29. It is imperative
the seating platform is folded flat onto the
standing platform as shown in Figure 29. It is also
imperative you tie your hoist rope so it prevents
the treestand from opening up (unfolding) while
lifting and it lifts oriented upward as shown in
Figure 29. Should the treestand open while being
hoisted it will become unstable, awkward and
clumsy and result in a dangerous hoisting
condition.
STEP 8: With your treestand attached to the hoist rope as previously outlined, attach the Standing Platform Ratchet Strap to one (1) of the Standing
Platform Ratchet Strap Receivers as shown in Figure 30.
****IMPORTANT HOISTING NOTE****
Never allow anyone to walk and/or stand below or underneath a treestand while it is being lifted, is at installation height, or while it is being
installed or removed. Standing and/or walking under a suspended load (i.e., lifted treestand) presents a very dangerous condition. Should the
load fall it has the potential to seriously injure or kill those below.
WARNING! Never stand and/or walk under a suspended load. Doing so places the user under immediate risk of serious injury or death!
Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death!
STEP 9: While still secured to the tree trunk with your linesmen belt, and securely standing on your climbing aid, with the help of the second adult,
have them GENTLY and SLOWLY hoist (lift) the treestand up to installation height using the previously installed Hoist. Raise (hoist) the treestand
to a position where the Quick Hitch Hook (refer to Figure 15) is approximately 2 inches (5 cm) BELOW the TOP of the Quick Hitch Receiver as
shown in Figure. 31.
STEP 10: With the treestand hoisted to installation height, with the Quick Hitch Hook positioned
approximately 2 inches (5 cm) BELOW the TOP of the Quick Hitch Receiver, gently lift the treestand
assembly up and place the Quick Hitch Hook into the Quick Hitch Receiver as shown in Figure 32.
STEP 11: With thetreestand hanging in theQuick Hitch Receiver, attach theloose end of the
Standing Platform Ratchet Strap to the remaining Standing Platform Ratchet Strap Receiver as shown in
Figure 33. Refer to the
“Standing Platform Ratchet Strap Installation.”
WARNING! The Standing Platform Ratchet Strap MUST BE installed and secured for a safe
installation of this treestand. Failure to properly install this ratchet strap will result in a
dangerous condition. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or
death!

DO NOT use your treestand if the leveling stem is not firmly engaged with the tree trunk. Failure to follow these instructions will lead to serious
injury or death!
ADJUSTABLE LEVELING STEM OPERATION
You must hunt from level, uncanted seatsand standing platforms. Your new True North Treestands Inc. treestand is equipped with an adjustable
leveling stem. This adjustable tree brace allows you to adjust the angle of your treestand installation to give you the most level of hunting
platform. Proper adjustment of this adjustable leveling stem is critical to safe operation of your treestand.
NOTE: The adjustable leveling stem MUST be in contact with the tree trunk when the treestand is installed. This brace provides a solid installation
foundation. If it is not in contact with the tree trunk, your treestand is NOT installed correctly and may fail. YOU MUST ENSURE THIS LEVELING STEM IS IN
FIRM CONTACT WITH THE TREE FOLLOWING INSTALLATION. IF IT IS NOT, REMOVE YOUR TREESTAND AND REINSTALL UNTIL IT IS IN FIRM CONTACT WITH THE
TREE TRUNK. FIGURE 38 OUTLINES THE OPERATION OF THE ADJUSTABLE LEVELING STEM.

GAINING ACCESSING TO AND FROM TREESTAND
It is of the utmost importance you remain connected while entering and exiting your True North Treestands Inc. treestand. Most treestand accidents involving
hang-on style treestands occur while the user is either entering or exiting their treestand. For this reason, you MUST stay connected.
While remaining attached to the tree with your full-body fall arrest lineman belt, attach the tree belt of the full-body
fall arrest harness to the tree trunk at a location above the seat. Both the lineman belt and tether of the tree belt
of the full body fall arrest harness shall be attached at the same time. Disconnect the lineman belt and climb above
standing platform and step down onto the center of the standing platform. If there is any looseness, step off the
treestand and back onto the climbing system. Disconnect the treestand and repeat the previous installation STEPS
after re-connecting your lineman belt.
