1 Introduction
This instruction manual is for users of the TRUST 350CW MOUSE CARDREADER
WIRELESS. The TRUST 350CW MOUSE CARDREADER WIRELESS is a 5-button
mouse with a scroll wheel and a convenient cradle for storing the mouse when it is
not in use. A battery charger is integrated into the cradle, so that the batteries are
always fully charged.
The mouse is suitable for both left and right-handed users. Three buttons can be
configured using the software provided with the mouse for easy access to commonly
used functions.
The mouse uses accurate optical technology, so there is no mouse ball to be
cleaned. The mouse is wireless and works at a frequency of 27 Mhz.
This set can be used up to a distance of just over 1 metre.
A card reader is integrated in the cradle for Smart Media and Compact Flash cards.
The reading and writing speeds are equal to that of a USB port, i.e. 12 Mbps. The
maximum size file size which the system can read is 128 MB for Smart Media cards
and 512 MB for Compact Flash cards.
2 Safety

5 Installation
5.1 Uninstalling old drivers and devices
The most common cause of faults during installation is the presence of a driver for a
similar, old device. The best solution is to first remove all drivers related to old
devices before installing the new driver. Make sure you only delete programs for old,
unused (similar) devices.
1. Enter the Windows ‘Safe Mode’ (press F8 when starting Windows and then
select ‘Safe Mode’ from the menu which will be displayed).
2. Click on ‘Start – Settings – Control Panel’ and double-click on the
‘Add/Remove Programs’ icon.
3. Find all the programs for similar, old devices and remove these by clicking on
the ‘Add/Remove’ button. When in the ‘Safe Mode’, it is possible for some
programs to appear twice. In that case, remove all the programs which
appear twice.
4. Restart the computer.
5.2 Installing the software
Note: The latest driver can be downloaded from www.trust.com/13093. Check
whether a new driver is available and use this for the installation.
Note: Make sure all other programs are closed during the installation.
Note: During installation in Windows XP, you may receive a message saying
that the driver has not been signed. This does not cause a problem for
the functionality. Continue with the installation.
Note: In the example, ‘D:\’ is used to indicate the CD-ROM drive. This may be
different for your computer.
1. Insert the CD-ROM into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. The Trust Software
Installer will start automatically. If it does not start automatically, carry out
the following:
a) Select 'Run' from the Windows Start menu.
b) Type [D:\SETUP.EXE] and click on 'OK' to start the Trust Software
Installer.
2. The Trust Software Installer will appear (see figure 1).
3. Select the language you wish to use for the installation.
See chapter 5.2.1 for instructions on how to install the card reader software and
chapter 5.2.2 for instructions on how to install the mouse software.
5.2.1 Card reader software
Start the Trust Software Installer as described in chapter 5.2.
Install this software before connecting the card reader/receiver to your computer.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart your computer if requested to do so.
5.2.2 Installing the mouse software
Start the Trust Software Installer as described in chapter 5.2.
1. Click on ‘Install Mouse Utility’ in de Trust Software Installer.
2. Select the language you wish to use and click on 'Next'.
3. Click twice on ‘Next’. A window will appear in which you can select how many
buttons the mouse has.
4. Select ‘5 button’ and click on ‘Next’.
Select ‘PS/2’ as the type of connection (only for Windows 98 and Windows
ME).
5. Click three times on ‘Next’ to complete the installation.
6. Restart your computer if requested to do so.
5.3 Connecting
The device has a USB plug. This means that the device is hot-swappable.
Therefore, you do not have to turn off your computer if you wish to connect the
device.
1. Connect the device to a USB port on your computer.
2. Windows will detect new hardware connected to your computer. The drivers
for the card reader and the mouse will be installed automatically.
The green LED on the card reader/receiver will be lit once it has been connected to
the USB port.
5.4 Making a wireless connection
1. Make sure the computer is turned on.
2. Make sure the devices are no more 1 meter apart and there are no objects
(or metal surfaces) between them, since this will reduce the quality of the
connection.
3. Make sure the batteries have been inserted into the mouse and they have
been sufficiently charged.
4. Press the purple button (E, figure 2) on the front of the receiver. The green
LED will start to flash.
5. Press the round ID button on the bottom of the mouse (A, figure 3). The
green LED will start to flash more quickly and then stop flashing. The LED will
remain constantly lit. A connection has now been made between the mouse
and the receiver. The mouse will now work as a standard mouse. When the
receiver receives data (from the mouse), the LED will flash quickly.
6. When there is interference or another device is using the same channel,
switch to another channel by moving the switch inside the mouse (B, figure
3).
The receiver has a green indicator to display the connection status. This indicator is
located in the receiver’s purple button.

operating systems.
7 Using the mouse software
7.1.1 About optical technology
The 350CW MOUSE CARDREADER WIRELESS uses a technology where a built-in
sensor takes a large number of photographs per second and compares them with
the ones already taken. Since light is used for this, the surface on which the mouse
is used is very important. Transparent surfaces, such as glass and mirrors, will not
reflect the light of the mouse sufficiently and the light will pass through the surface.
Black and red surfaces may also cause a problem, since these colours absorb some
of the light emitted by the mouse. It is best to use the mouse on a flat, white surface.
This does not mean that the mouse will not work correctly on other surfaces,
although the mouse may react more slowly than it would if used on a flat, white
surface.
7.1.2 Explanation of the buttons
The mouse has five buttons and a scroll wheel. The functions of these are given in
table 1. Use this table together with figure 2.
Item Name Function
AButton 1 Right mouse button.
BButton 2 Programmable third mouse button + scroll wheel.
CButton 3 Left mouse button.
DButtons 4 + 5 Programmable fourth and fifth mouse buttons on the
left and right-hand sides of the mouse.

must be recharged when this is continuously lit red. Place the mouse in the cradle
correctly to recharge the batteries.
7.1.4 Software
1. Double-click on the Trust icon (figure 4) in the taskbar.
2. The Mouse Properties window will appear (figure 5).
3. The scroll wheel mode can be selected in the ‘Scroll wheel’ tab.
4. There are two options:
•Enhanced scroll mode: contains the advantages of the MS-Intellimouse.
You can then scroll in Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and
Windows XP
•Intellimouse mode: works as an MS-Intellimouse.
5. Select the scroll wheel speed.
6. Buttons 3, 4 and 5 can be programmed in the ‘Buttons’ tab (see figure 6).
7. Select a button and click on the arrow on the right-hand side. A drop-down
list will appear (see figure 6).
8. Select the function you wish to use.
9. Click on ‘Apply’.
The mouse has now been programmed.
Right-clicking on the Trust icon and then selecting ‘Active mouse property’ will allow
you to configure the Windows mouse properties, such as left and right-handed use.
You can uninstall the software by selecting ‘Uninstall’. This function can be found in
the same folder as the Mouse Utility function.
Right-clicking on the Trust icon and then selecting ‘Exit’ closes the Utility. You will
then be able to use the button functions in other programs or games.
8 Using the card reader
You can insert media cards into the card reader once media has been saved on
them.
Insert Compact Flash cards in the top slot (F, figure 2).
Insert Smart Media cards in the bottom slot (G, figure 2).
Inserting memory cards:
CF: Insert the card into the card reader with the arrow facing upwards.
SMC: Insert the card into the card reader with the contact points facing
upwards.
After inserting the cards, they will be accessible in the same way as a hard disk.
Double-click on the My Computer icon to access the Compact Flash card or the
Smart Media card. These will be displaced as a removable disk. You can drag and
drop files onto the cards or save files on these cards.
The red LED on the card reader/receiver will flash when data is being transferred
between the computer and the card reader.
Comment: Do not format the Compact Flash card or the Smart Media card
using the computer. Format the cards using the device in which
they are used, otherwise the card may no longer work in the
device.

reader/ receiver. The card may be damaged if you remove the card whilst data is still
being transferred.
-Hold the card by the sides and slowly pull it out of the slot. The card may be
difficult to remove.
Note: You may accidentally press the button on the front of the card
reader/receiver whilst removing the card. The green LED will
start to flash. If so, press the ID button on the bottom of the
mouse to stop it flashing.
