1 Introduction
This instruction manual is for users of the ‘TRUST AMI MOUSE 140T WEB
SCROLL‘. This mouse gives you complete control over the screen. Roll the ball and
move both the vertical and horizontal scroll axes. This possibility makes viewing
Internet sites outside of screen range much more convenient. This mouse can also
be used as a trackball making it ideal for notebook users.
2 Safety
Carefully read the following instructions before use:
1. The TRUST AMI MOUSE 140T WEB SCROLL does not require any special
maintenance. Use a slightly damp, clean cloth to clean the mouse.
2. Do not use aggressive substances, such as petrol or white spirit, to clean
the device. These may harm the material.
3. Do not submerge the device in liquid. This may be dangerous and will
damage the device. Do not use this device near water.
4. Make sure nothing is placed on the power cable. Do not use this device in
an area where the cable can become worn or damaged as a result of
people walking over it.
5. Do not repair this device yourself.
6. Have the device repaired by qualified personnel in the following
circumstances:
a) The power cable or plug is damaged or worn.
b) The device has been in contact with rain, water or other liquid.
3 Installation
3.1 Connecting
Note: Connect the mouse to the PS/2 port on your computer only.
1. Switch off your computer.
2. Connect the mouse to the PS/2 port on your computer.
3. Switch the computer on again.
4. The mouse works directly as a standard PS/2 mouse.
Move on to chapter 3.2 for software installation.
3.2 Installing the software
Note: The CD-ROM drive is indicated as “D:\”. This is only an example and
can vary from one computer to another.

1. Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. The Installer will start
automatically.
If this does not happen, follow the steps below.
a) Select ‘Run’ in the start menu.
b) Type [D:\SETUP.EXE] and click on ‘OK’ to start the Trust Software
Installer.
2. Figure 1 will appear. Select the language you want to use during
installation.
3. Click on ‘TRUST AMI MOUSE 140T WEB SCROLL‘.
4. Follow the instructions on screen.
5. After following this procedure the software is installed and ready for use.
3.3 Testing
1. Click on the mouse icon that appears on the left of the taskbar after
installation of the software. See figure 2.
2. The “Mouse Properties” screen will appear.
3. Select the “Third Button” tab. See figure 5.
4. The zoom function has been selected here.
5. Click on “OK”.
6. Now click the middle mouse button (E). See figure 3.
7. The mouse arrow on screen will become larger.
8. Click the middle mouse button once again to cancel the enlargement.
9. The mouse and software have been correctly installed and are ready for use.
4 Use
4.1 Mouse
You switch the mouse ball from scroll to trackball as follows:
1. Hold down the middle button “E” (see figure 3).
2. Click the right mouse button “B” (see figure 3) to switch the ball to the
trackball function.
3. Release both the middle and right mouse button.
4. The ball will now work as a trackball. When the mouse moves horizontally or
vertically this will work as the scroll function.
5. Hold down the middle button “E” (figure 3).
6. Click the left mouse button “C” (figure 3) to switch the ball back to the scroll
function.

The table below gives a description of all parts. Use this table in combination with
figure 3.

A Ball Can be used as both horizontal and vertical
scroll. Can also be used as trackball.
B Right mouse button Right mouse button function.

D Ring clamp Ring that holds the scroll / trackball in place.
E Middle mouse button Both a programmable button and switching
button between scroll and trackball.

4.2 Software
1. Click on the mouse icon that appears on the left of the taskbar after
installation of the software. See figure 2.
2. A screen called “Mouse Properties” will appear.
3. “Scroll ball” tab. See figure 4.
In this tab you will make the following settings:
• Wheel mode - Select intelli mouse mode or enhanced scroll mode.
• Vertical scroll setting - Select the number of lines that you want to
scroll vertically or select 1 page per scroll.
• Horizontal scroll setting - Select the number of lines that you want to
scroll or select 1 page per scroll. It is also possible to set “Use for
application switch” or “Use for website switch”. With the first option
you can switch between two programs with the horizontal scroll, with
the second you can switch between the websites you have visited
with your Internet browser.
4. Third Button tab. See figure 5.
In this tab you can assign a special function to the third mouse button, you
can choose from the following options:
• Launch default browser - This option starts your standard Internet
browser with the middle mouse button.
• Launch default e-mail - This option starts your standard e-mail
program with the middle mouse button.
• Office 97 document zoom - With this option the middle mouse button
becomes a zoom function in Office 97.
• Shift lock - With this option the shift function is locked when you click
the middle mouse button, when you click the middle mouse button
again, the shift function returns to normal.
• Zoom - With this function you can zoom in on random elements on
screen.
• Auto scroll - When this function is switched on and you click the
middle mouse button, the mouse works as a scroll function by moving
the mouse up and down. When you click the middle mouse button
again, this function is cancelled.
• Other - With this option you can assign a random function from the
pull-down menu to the middle mouse button.

Note: When you use the ball as a trackball, you can also switch off the scroll
function by setting the number of scroll lines to zero in the ‘Scroll Ball’
tab.
5 Maintenance
The mouse’s mouse, scroll and trackball becomes dirty with use and can operate
poorly as a result.
1. Switch off the computer.
2. Remove the ring holding the ball in place by turning it to the right.
3. Take the ball from its compartment.
4. Clean the space occupied by the ball.
5. Use a slightly moist cotton bud (not too damp).
6. Clean the ball by holding it under cold running water and dry it with a non-
fluffy cloth.
7. Replace the ball in the mouse, put the ring back in place and switch the
computer on.
