This device must be registered in order for it to function
properly. Your instructor will give your information about
the preferred method for your class.
Pulse
You will use your Pulse clicker as you do your other handheld devices that have keypads. Key
touches are described here as presses. Several keys have two types of key presses - press and
press and hold.
MENU
Press to access the Main Menu.
Press the Navigation keys to scroll the Menu.
Press the Enter key to select a menu item.
Join - Press the Enter key. Type the Join Code for
the Class.
Channel - Displays the Channel # in the upper
left corner of the Screen.
Clicker # - Displays the clicker’s assigned number.
Greeting - The Greeting displays when you turn
on the Pulse. Press the Enter key, type your
greeting, press the Enter key again to save it.
Contrast - Press the Navigation keys to adjust the
contrast from low contrast (1) to high contrast (6).
Diagnostic - Displays the Pulse’s Serial number,
your Pulse type, the signal strength, and
rmware version.

pictured on the Screen.
Power
Press to power on your Pulse.
Press and hold for 2 seconds to
power down your Pulse.
Jump/Search
Press key to jump to a question in a
self-paced test or homework assignment.
Press and hold key to search for the next
unanswered question.

THE SCREEN
Channel # - Displays Channel # or homework
bin, depending on mode.
Enter/Send - Animated during transmission.
OK when transmission acknowledged.
Correct/Incorrect - Indicates correct or
incorrect answer. Teacher must activate this
option.
RF Activity Indicators - Up arrow ashes for
each transmit, down arrow ashes for each
receive.
Text Entry Mode - Indicates which of the
text entry modes - alpha, numeric, SMS - is
currently in use.
Self-Paced Mode - Indicates that the keypad is
operating in Self-Paced Mode.
Battery Status - Indicates the current battery
voltage from full to low to very low. Very low
will ash.

JOIN THE CLASS
As the Pulse powers up, eInstruction and your clicker’s Serial number appear on the Pulse Screen. The
Greeting displays and Pulse begins searching for a Class to join.
You can answer many dierent types of questions with your Pulse clicker - single answer multiple
choice, true/false, numeric, multiple correct multiple choice, answer series, short answer, and so on.
The Pulse clicker will change to the appropriate entry mode when the teacher begins asking questions.
To turn o your Pulse, press and hold the Power key for about two seconds until you see the
Powering Down message on the Screen.
1. Select the appropriate text entry mode.
2. Press the key or keys in your answer. Use the Backspace key to make corrections.
3. Press the Enter/Send key.
The Enter/Send icon will be animated on the Pulse Screen and OK will verify a successful transmission.
If your teacher has set the Correct/Incorrect Answer icon , where appropriate for specic
question types, it will display on the Pulse Screen.
You are instructed to enter a Class Channel # and press Enter key, or press Menu, navigate to the Join
menu item and press Enter key, or you may be joined automatically to the Class.
When Q: __ appears on your Pulse Screen, you are
joined to the Class and ready to answer questions.

If the Self-Paced Mode icon displays on your Pulse Screen, you are going to be taking a test. You
can answer the questions in any order. You can return to a question and change your answer as many
times as you want within the time allotted for the test. Use the Alpha/Numeric/SMS Entry key to
cycle to the appropriate text entry mode you need to enter your answer (Numeric , Multiple Choice
or Short Answer ). Verify the mode you are in on your Pulse Screen. Each time you press the Enter/
Send key, your answer to the current question is transmitted. Watch the Enter/Send icon to verify
transmission. Press the Jump/Search key and designate the question you want to jump to. Press and
hold the Jump/Search key to jump to the next unanswered question.
