Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Tyto
This guide will show you how to set up Tyto
for the first time and how to use it to
conduct a comprehensive exam with a
clinician on your patient.

Tyto Device

Adaptors
* Ear caps come in small size (3mm) for small children (age under 3 years old)
and large (4mm) for older children and adults.
** Tongue depressor comes in 6cm for children and 8cm for adults.

How to use
Turning your Tyto Device on/off
To turn it on, press the on/off button located on top of the Tyto
Device for three seconds. To turn if off, tap the three-dots screen
menu on the Device and select Shutdown.
How to use the disposable ear caps
To keep the otoscope lens clean,
place the plastic ear cap on top of
the otoscope and rotate it clockwise
to secure it.
How to connect the disposable
tongue depressor
Insert the tongue depressor into its
adaptor until you hear a clicking
sound. To detach, press the locking
latch at the bottom and pull the
components apart.
Connecting the exam adaptors
All the adaptors are easily
connected to the Tyto Device by
lining up the blue dots.
Cleaning and disinfecting the Device
The Tyto Device should be low level disinfected in between uses.
Clean the otoscope lens with a cotton swab before every use.
Please refer to the Important Safety Information leaflet for further
instructions.

Tyto exams
The Tyto Device can be used to capture and transmit the
following types of exams:
Lungs, Heart and Heart Rate - To capture and transmit
the auscultation data, connect the stethoscope adaptor
to the Device, place at the indicated body location(s) and
verify a good signal is being captured.
Ears - To capture and transmit video and image data,
connect the otoscope adaptor to the Device, pull the ear
back to straighten the ear canal and insert the otoscope
slowly until the eardrum is clearly visible.
Throat - Use the Tyto Device camera to capture the back of
the throat (uvula and tonsils). The tongue depressor may be
needed to obtain a clear view.
Thermometer - Use the built in IR non-contact forehead
thermometer to measure the body temperature. If
prompted, follow the calibration instructions first.
Skin - To capture and transmit video and image data, use
the built in examination camera on the Tyto Device to
capture and tag skin images. Tap on the Device screen to
focus and press the power button to capture the images.
Additional external data from integrated devices or sources can be
added to the Tyto examination data.
While performing the heart and lungs exams, you can use
headphones connected to the Tyto Device headphones jack to
verify the signal in real time during the recording.

Setting up TytoPro
Note: If you received instructions from your health provider on
how to get started, please refer to them as they may be different
from the steps below. You may need to download additional apps
and register separately.
Step 1:
Before use, charge your Tyto Device with the charging cable
provided, using the UL-certified USB wall charger included.
The charging port is on the bottom of the Tyto Device, covered by a
protective rubber casing. When the purple LED turns blue, your
Device is fully charged.
Step 2:
Install the TytoApp from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play
(Android) onto your tablet or mobile device.
Your TytoCare system administrator will send you an email with
your username and initial password. Log into the TytoApp and
select a new password as instructed.
Step 3:
Pair the TytoApp to your Tyto Device to allow them to communicate
with each other. Follow the steps in the App to connect the Tyto
Device to your Wi-Fi network or mobile hotspot. Once connected,
you will see a green connected icon in the top right corner of the
TytoApp. If pairing is unsuccessful, make sure your Wi-Fi or hotspot
password is correct, or refer to Troubleshooting at the end of this
guide.

Conducting a Tyto visit
Note: If you received instructions from your health provider on
how to conduct a visit, please refer to them as they may be different
from the steps below.
Step 1:
Log into the TytoApp on your tablet or mobile device and turn on
your Tyto Device.
Step 2:
Make sure that the TytoApp is connected to your Tyto Device.
Connection will occur automatically within 60 seconds if you have
already connected the TytoApp to your Tyto Device during the
initial setup process, and you are using the same Wi-Fi or hotspot
connection.
Step 3:
Choose or add the name of the patient who needs to be examined.
Step 4:
Start a Tyto visit with a clinician.
There are two types of Tyto visits with a clinician (only one may
apply to your health program):
lSee a Clinician Online - Select an available clinician to start a live
online visit. During the visit, the clinician will control your Tyto
Device remotely and will guide you through the examination pro-
cess.
lExam and Forward - Use the Tyto Device to perform exams (such
as heart, lungs, throat). After you complete recordings for all the
desired exams, tap Submit All on the Tyto Device to send the
recordings to the TytoApp. From the TytoApp you can send the
exams to a clinician for review.

Troubleshooting
I cannot pair the TytoApp and the Tyto Device
+Check that your Tyto Device is turned on (it can take up to a minute
to auto-connect to your App).
+Check that you are using the correct Wi-Fi network name and
password and try to pair again.
+Check that your Wi-Fi network does not require an additional sign
in step (such as in hotels and airports).
+Try to connect to a different Wi-Fi network or your mobile hotspot.
I cannot turn off the Tyto Device
+Tap on the Tyto Device menu icon and select Shutdown.
+If the Device is unresponsive or stuck on a screen, press and hold
the top button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown.
I am experiencing poor video or sound quality
+Try using TytoPro as close to your router as possible.
+Try using your phone hotspot for connection.
+Check your connection in the TytoApp using the Test Connection
option in the Menu.
Minimum bandwidth requirements are 2 Mbps (megabits per
second) for both download and upload.
Recommended bandwidth: 5 Mbps download, 4 Mbps upload.
