Running DriverScanner for the first time
Have you purchased DriverScanner yet? If not, you can still run the program to identify your outdated
drivers. Once you purchase and register you will also be able to download and install new drives, and make
use of the automatic DriverScanner restore points to roll back to previous drivers.
Purchasing DriverScanner
• TopurchaseDriverScannerclickontheRegister Now button at the bottom left of the free scan version
ofDriverScanner.Thiswillbringupapop-upwithaPurchase online button at the bottom right. Click on
the Purchase online button and a web browser window will appear.
• Fromthebrowserwindow,clickonthePurchase now button to go to the purchase page where you can
addtheproducttotheshoppingcart.Thiswillleadyoutoapagewhereyoucanenteryourpurchase
details and complete your transaction.

efcientdriverupdates.Thisguidewillhelpyouinstalltheproduct
and start using it.
Downloading and installing DriverScanner
It usually takes less than a minute to download and install DriverScanner.
• YoucandownloadDriverScannerthroughthefollowinglink:
http://www.uniblue.com/software/driverscanner/
• Whenthepagehasloaded,clickontheDownload nowbutton.Youwillbegiventheoptiontosavethe
download file. Click Save and, once the download finishes, locate the .exe file and double click on its icon
to start the installation wizard.
• FollowtheWizardtonalizetheinstallationprocess.
Interface overview
1. Navigation panel: click to navigate across
major interface categories.
2. Left-hand side menu: a submenu contained
within the chosen interface category. Each
option links to a different screen.
3. Registration button: click to register product
and unlock full functionality.

Registering DriverScanner
• Afterpurchaseyouwillreceivebyemailaserialnumberthatneedstobeenteredintotheproductfor
registration.TheserialnumberentrywindowcanbeaccessedbyclickingontheRegister now button at
the bottom left of all screens.
• InserttheserialnumberintheEnterSerialNumbereldandclickonActivate now.Theserialnumber
shouldstartwiththelettersDSandbeinthefollowingformat,whereXrepresentsacharacter:DS-
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
Alternative registration
• Forregistrationtotakeplace,DriverScannerneedstoconnecttotheUniblueserver.Ifitcannotestab-
lishaconnection,apop-upshouldpromptyoutocheckyourInternetconnection,rewallandproxy
settings,andthenprovideyouwithanoptiontoactivatetheprogrammanuallythroughtheUniblue
website.
• If,aftercheckingyoursettings,youarestillunabletoactivateyourproduct,clickonthe‘activatemanually
ontheUnibluewebsite’text.Thislaunchesabrowserwindowlinkedtoaspecialalternativeactivation
page.Followtheinstructionsonthispagecarefullytocompleteregistration.
Scanning for outdated drivers
• Bydefaultandpriortoregistration,DriverScannerlaunchesascanautomaticallyuponstarting.Ifthescan
does not start automatically, click the Scan button from the Overview screen. Once the scan has finished,
theprogramwilldisplayasresultsalistofdeviceswithoutdateddrivers.Tostartthedownloadprocess,
click on the Download all button at the bottom of the screen.
• OnceyouhaveclickedontheDownload allbutton,DriverScannerwillcontacttheUnibluedatabase
anddownloadthenecessarydata.Aprogressbarwillapproximatedownloadcompletionuntilthe
words“Downloadcomplete”appeartogetherwitha‘verygood’tick.
Installing new drivers
• Toinstalladownloadeddriver,clickonthewordInstalldisplayedinthemiddlecolumnoftheUpdate
driverspage.Notethatdriversneedtobeinstalledonebyone.OnceyouclickonInstall,DriverScanner
launches an automatic restore point which will allow you to roll back drivers on demand. DriverScan-
nerwilltheninstallthenewdriverautomaticallyandsilently.Apop-upwillconrmadriver’ssuccessful
installation.
Using restore points
• Everytimeyouinstallanewdriver,DriverScannerkeepsarestorepoint.Thisisasnapshotofyoursystem
thatyouwillbeabletoresorttoincaseofsystemproblems.Torollbacktoarestorepoint,clickonthe
Manage tab from the navigation panel.
• SelectRestorefromthelefthandsidemenu.Anyrestorepointswillbelistedtogetherwiththedateand
time that they were set.
• Toresorttoyourcomputeratapreviousstate,selecttheappropriaterestorepointbyclickingonthe
tickbox on the left hand side. Once selected, a Restore selected button should change color from grey
to blue. Click on the Restore selectedbutton.Tocompletetherollbackyouwillneedtorestartyour
computer.
Note:Rollingbacktoarestorepointwillundoanyotherchangesmadetoyourcomputersincetherestore
point was set.

Ignoring drivers
• Ifyoudecidenottoinstalladriver,youmightwanttoomitthisdriverfromsubsequentscanresults.To
dothis,gototheDriverScanpagefromthenavigationpanel.Fromthelefthandsidemenu,select
Update drivers. Youwillndalistofdownloadeddrivers.Toomitadriverfromthenextsearchresults,
click on the Ignore option from the right hand side.
• Ignoreddriverscanberetrieved.ToremoveadriverfromtheIgnorelist,selecttheManage tab from the
navigation panel and then Ignored drivers from the left hand side menu.Select the appropriate driver
byclickingthetickboxonthelefthandside.AnUnignore selected button should turn blue. Click on the
Unignore selected button and the driver will be offered once again in subsequent scan results.
