1. Getting started
SpeedupMyPC can be installed on any version of Windows XP,Windows Vista, or Windows 7.
It is compatible with 32 and 64-bit systems.
1.1 Minimum requirements

1.2 Installing SpeedUpMyPC
You can download SpeedUpMyPC through the following link: http://www.liutilities.com/products/speed-
upmypc.Beforetheledownloadstarts,youwillbeaskedtoRun, Save or Cancel the download. Choose
Run to start the download process that brings up the installation wizard.
Alternatively click Save and then, from the down menu, choose a location to save the install file, for example
on the Desktop.When you click Save, the file will download to your set location.The next step is to locate
the .exe file and double click on its icon to start the installation wizard.
Follow the wizard by clicking on the Nextbutton.YouwillbeaskedtoreadandaccepttheEndUser
License Agreement and then to specify a location where to install SpeedUpMyPC.We recommend you
choose the default location unless you have a specific reason not to.

2. Program overview
The overview page will describe some features within the SpeedUpMyPC interface.To learn how to scan for
improvements and speed up your PC, you may choose to move straight to section 3.

Overview:
• Usethenavigationpanel(gure1)toshiftthroughthedifferentpagesoftheapplication.Eachtablinks
to a particular page.The term ‘navigation panel’will be used throughout this manual to refer to the row
of four tabs labeled in figure 1.
• TobefoundontheOverviewpage,theUniblueSystemBarometerprovidesUniblue’sassessmentof
whether your PC is performing to its full potential. A barometer pointing towards the rainy cloud on the
left indicates a computer slowed down by poor system resource management, unoptimized settings or
junk files.
• TheLiveUpdate box provides registered users covered by ActiveProtection access to product updates
as they become available. Clicking the green Update now button will launch the process to upgrade
SpeedUpMyPC to the latest version.
• Figure2showstheSpeed scan screen.The menu on the left hand side offers different screens within
the chosen tab.The term ‘left hand side menu’will be used to refer to the menu.

3. Scanning and speeding up your PC
To speed up your PC, the program must be guided through a scan and then a speed up process.
3.1 Scanning your system
To start a system scan, go to the Overview tab from the navigation panel and click on the Start scan but-
ton. SpeedUpMyPC will conduct a deep scan of your system, checking for poor system resource manage-
ment, unoptimized system settings and junk files that are slowing down your computer.
Once the scan has finished, the program will display the number of improvements per category. For a list of
the individual improvements identified for your PC, click on the category name, shown in blue and
underlined.
3.2 Speeding up your PC
Bydefault,SpeedUpMyPCwillconductafullsystemspeedup,implementingspeedtoolsandsystem
tweaks as well as cleaning junk files.To start the speed up process, click on the Speed up now button on
the bottom right of the screen.
3.3 Conducting a selective speed up
You can choose to omit certain improvements from the speed up process, either by excluding a major
category from the scan process or by deselecting individual improvements from the scan results.
To omit an improvement category from the scan process, go to the Speed scan tab and select Speed scan
from the left hand side menu. From this screen you can deselect one or more categories from speed tools,
system tweaks and junk files. Note that SpeedUpMyPC cannot offer improvements for categories excluded
from the scan process.
To deselect individual improvements from the scan results, select the Speed scan tab from the navigation
panel and choose Scan results from the left hand side menu. If you click on the improvement category link,
shown in blue and underlined, an itemized list of improvements recommended for your PC will be revealed.
To omit a particular improvement, untick the corresponding selection box on the left hand side. Once you
click the Speed up now button, unticked improvements will not be implemented.
3.4 Managing improvements
Once set, some improvements can be deactivated or undone.To manage improvements in this manner, select
the Manage tab from the navigation panel and choose between Speed tools or System Tweaks from the
left hand side menu.This brings up a list of improvements together with the option to activate or deactivate.

4. System optimization explained
SpeedUpMyPC increases your computer’s speed through improvements grouped into three categories:
1. Speed tools
2. System tweaks
3. Junk file deletion
4.1 What are speed tools?
Speed tools are improvements that remain actively available for deployment as long as SpeedUpMyPC is
leftrunning.Eachspeedtoolhasaspecicpurpose.
CPU manager
A process may cause problems by manipulating an unreasonably large chunk of system resources.The
CPU manager guards against the possibility of such an event by adjusting the priority of a process before it
spirals out of control.
Proactive thumbnail generator
Under some settings,every time you open a picture folder,Windows generates the picture thumbnails that are used
for preview.This is a system resource intensive task that can slow down your PC.With the Proactive thumbnail gen-
erator on,upon folder access,your PC will conduct a one-time thumbnail generation process and save the relevant
data to a Windows system folder. From then onwards thumbnails will be quickly retrieved instead of generated.
Software quick starter
The software quick starter increases program launch speed by anticipating the user and pre-loading data into the
memory.
4.2 What are system tweaks?
System tweaks are one-time changes that take place upon clicking the Speed up now button. Although there are
many different types of system tweaks,we group them under three categories:
System resource tweaks free up system resources by cutting off unused services or improving system resource
allocation.
Internet or network tweaks optimize network and browser settings for better speed and efficiency.
Visual effects tweaks optimize Windows visual effects for speed.
4.3 What are junk files?
Junk files accumulate on your computer through use, occupying hard drive space and slowing down your
PC. After scanning you will be able to identify which files SpeedUpMyPC has identified for cleaning. For more
information, please consult manual section 3.3.

5. Configuring SpeedUpMyPC
SpeedUpMyPC can be configured through a number of options from the Settings tab.
5.1 Change display language
To change display language, click on the Settings tab from the navigation panel. In the General settings
screen, the first in the left hand side menu, you will see a drop down menu for language.Click on the down-
ward arrow and select your language of choice. A pop up will inform you that SpeedUpMyPC needs to be
relaunched for the change to take effect. Click on the Relaunch now button and the SpeedUpMyPC will
launch in the new language.
5.2 Remove auto launch
Bydefault,SpeedUpMyPCwilllaunchautomaticallywithWindowsstartup.Werecommendyoupreserve
this setting as SpeedUpMyPC’s speed tools will only operate when the program is running.To remove this
setting, select Settings from the navigation panel.You should see a green power sign toward the bottom
of the screen. Untick the box to the left hand side of the ‘Launch SpeedUpMyPC when Windows starts’op-
tion to remove auto launch.
5.3 Using a Proxy
To run SpeedUpMyPC through a proxy, go to the Settings tab from the navigation panel. Choose Proxy
settings from the left hand side menu. Follow the form to enter your proxy details and tick the Enable
proxy option at the bottom. For the changes to be implemented, click on the Apply button.

6. Purchasing and registering SpeedUpMyPC
Unregistered, SpeedUpMyPC will scan your system and offer improvements but only implement a limited
number. Once you register, you will be able to implement all the improvements for a much larger perfor-
mance boost. Registration also gives you free ActiveProtection for one year, which grants you guaranteed
customer support and access to product updates and upgrades as they become available.
To register, you first need to purchase the product.You can purchase SpeedUpMyPC through the Uniblue
website www.uniblue.com
Alternatively, click on the Register Now button at the bottom left of the free scan version of SpeedUpMyPC.
This will bring up a pop-up with a Purchase online button at the bottom right. Click on this button and a
web browser window will appear. From the browser window, click on the Purchase now button to go to
the purchase page where you can add the product to the shopping cart.This will lead you to a page where
you can enter your purchase details and complete your transaction.
After purchase you will receive by email a serial number that needs to be entered into the product for reg-
istration.The serial number entry window can be accessed by clicking on the Register now button at the
bottom left of all screens.
InserttheserialnumberintheEnterSerialNumbereldandclickonActivate now. The serial number
should start with the letters SP and be in the following format, where X represents a character:
SP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
Alternative registration
For registration to take place, SpeedUpMyPC needs to connect to the Uniblue server. If it cannot establish
a connection, a pop up should prompt you to check your Internet connection, firewall and proxy settings,
then provide you with an option to activate the program manually through the Uniblue website. If, after
checking your settings, you are still unable to activate your product, click on the ‘activate manually on the
Uniblue web site’ text.This launches a browser window linked to a special alternative activation page.Fol-
low the instructions on this page carefully to complete registration.
