Uponor Remote access module R-56
SMS description
See picture A for system
description.
The Uponor Remote access module R-56 can remote control a
changeover between comfort and ECO-mode. The module is connected
to the controller via a Uponor Thermostat T-54 Public. The thermostat
sends a message to the controller when the relay status in the SMS
module is changed. A closed relay forces ECO-mode. This gives the
following basic remote control:
• ThehomeownercansetthesystemtoECO-modewhenleavingthe
house by sending an SMS.
This is the recommended way since this also gives a function
verification for the remote service.
Note! This will also be possible by manual operation, i e by using a
button on the module.
• ThehomeownercanatwillsetthesystemremotelybySMSto
comfort or by manually pressing the button on the SMS module.

Interface functions
1 s: - Switch ECO ON/OFF Bicolor LED indicates alarm status
5 s: - Enable/disable both alarms green: alarm 1 and 2 available
40 s: - Reset red: contact opened
Relay Indication GSM Network Indication
- On: Relay closed -> Uponor Controller
C-56 in forced ECO mode.
- Off: Relay open -> Uponor Controller
C-56 in normal mode.
Constantly On: No GSM Signal
Slow Blink: GSM Signal OK
Fast Blink: Receiving SMS
SIM card considerations
Use a mobile phone to:
• DeactivateSIMcardPINcodeusingthesecurityoptiononyour
mobile phone.
• TesttheSIMcardisworkingproperlywhentroubleshootingasystem.
NotethatsometypesofSIMcardsbecomeinactivatediftheyhave
not been used for some time. This can be prevented by the heartbeat
function that will send a SMS from the remote access module R-56
with a configurable interval.

Installation
Please follow this sequence when installing the Uponor Remote access
module R-56 and Uponor Thermostat T-54 Public.
Note! The thermostat T-54 Public switch settings must be done before
the thermostat is registered to the controller C-56.
• SettheswitchesonthethermostatT-54PublicasshowninpictureC.
• InstalltheSIMcardintheremoteaccessmoduleR-56slotonthe
right side of the unit. Note!Usemobilephonetode-activatePIN
code, see picture D.
• Mounttheantenna.
• FixthethermostatT-54PublicandtheremoteaccessmoduleR-56
to the wall.
• ConnectthesensorinputonthethermostatT-54Publictotherelay
output on the remote access module R-56, see picture E, F and G.
• PlacethebatteriesinthethermostatT-54Publicandreplacethe
cover.
• ReplacetheremoteaccessmoduleR-56coverandconnectthe
power supply.
• RegisterthethermostattothecontrollerC-56onachannelthat
does not already use a thermostat T-54 Public. Please see Uponor
ControlSystem-Installationandoperationmanualforfurther
instructions.
• Thesystemshouldnowbemanuallyoperable.Testthatpressingthe
remote access module R-56 On/Off button activates Forced ECO in
the controller.
Note! WillbeindicatedintheinterfaceI-76byanalarmmessageand
blinking LED; Forced ECO mode!

SMS Setup sequence
Use the forward function in your phone.
• StartwiththeabovemessageandmodifythePHONEparameterto
your mobile phone number. Send and then check once again with
PASS CONF that the setting was accepted. Do not send more than
1 single SMS message
• Startwiththenewcongurationanswerandmodifythealarmtemp
to preferred value. This will be dependent to the setback value in the
Uponor Controller C-56.
 Forexample:
 6°CsetbackonthecontrollerwheninECOmode.
 21°Cnormalsetpointintheroomwheretheremoteaccessmodule
R-56 is mounted.
 2°Csafetymargin
 ALARMTEMP=21–6–2=13.ie.theremoteaccessmoduleR-56
willsendanalarmwhenthetemperaturedropsbelow13°C.
• RepeatthesequencewithPASS CONF and then send new setting:
OUTPUT=0
• RepeatonceagainandthensendanewPASSvariable.Takecare
to save the password. Otherwise you will not be able to access the
remote access module R-56 remotely.
Normal Usage - Short description
To know the status of your installation you just have to send your
password to your receiver (“PASS” by default) and then it replies with
the following status message:
YoucanalsoreceivethismessageperiodicallyiftheHEARTBEAT
parameter is activated.
This message is also sent when an alarm occurs.
Activate/deactivate ECO in controller C-56 using
remote access module R-56
The ECO mode in the controller C-56 can be activated/deactivated
using the output setting to reduce or increase the temperature in a
remotecontrolledhousein3simplesteps.
1. Send your password to the receiver.
2. Modify the OUTPUT setting as shown below.

Beschreibung des SMS-Kopplers
Systembeschreibung siehe Abbildung A.
DerUponorSMS-KopplerR-56kanndieUmschaltungzwischenKomfort-
und ECO-Modus ferngesteuert vornehmen. Der SMS-Koppler ist mit dem
RegelmodulC-56übereinenUponorRaumfühlerT-54Inneneinstellung
verbunden.BeieinerÄnderungdesRelaisschalt-zustandsimSMS-Modul
sendet der Raumfühler eine Meldung an das Regelmodul. Ein typischer
BefehlwäredasschließendesRelaisschaltzustandes,(hierwirdeine
UmschaltungindenEco-Moduserzwungen.)
Dies ergibt folgende grundlegende Fernsteuerung:
• DerBenutzerkanndasSystembeimVerlassendesHausesdurch
Senden einer SMS in den ECO-Modus schalten.
Dies ist die empfohlene Methode, da sie eine Bestätigung der
Fernsteuerungsfunktion beinhaltet.
Zu beachten: Diese Umschaltung kann auch manuell vorgenommen
werden über einen Taster am SMS-Koppler R-56.
• DerBenutzerkanndasSystemganznachBeliebenferngesteuertper
SMS oder durch Drücken des Tasters am SMS-Modul R-56 in den
Komfort-Modus schalten.
